herbivore answered Monday May 15 2006, 8:30 pm: hey. okay well it seems like a lot of ppl have already answered this, but here i go. anorexia is when you starve yourself and you refuse to eat. bulimia is when you eat, but then you make yourself throw-up. neither one is good because they BOTH have very bad ending points. hope this helps!! :) ♥ ♥ ♥
here is a site that you can look at to better explain:
its_gabby answered Monday May 15 2006, 4:47 pm: Welll, anorexia is basically starving yourelf, not eating anything whatsoever. Belemia is just as bad, but you eat, and throw it up after you eat, so it's like you never ate in the first place. They are both extremellyyy horrible for you. People die from it. So basically they are both bad for you. I wouldn't suggest either. Hope this helps! [ its_gabby's advice column | Ask its_gabby A Question ]
LM answered Monday May 15 2006, 3:44 pm: Anorexia is basically starving yourself, while Bulimia is eating an enormous amount of food in one sitting then purging (throwing it up).
As for what has the worst effects, it depends on if you're thinking short-term or long-term. Bulimia, since you're throwing up so frequently, causes tooth decay and can damage the esophagus/shomach/throat. Anorexia may at first cause weight GAIN (what little food you actually eat, your body holds onto as long as possible) and both disorders can lead to death if left untreated.
bottom line, both are VERY damaging and it's best to get treatment/therapy/counseling for them ASAP.
xoxDaneCookRox answered Monday May 15 2006, 1:11 pm: anorexia: Is when you eat really small amouts of food, if any. Its really bad for you and deadly.
bulimia: Is when you binge eat(wich is when you wat a ton of food in a short amout of time) then throw it up.
I would say that anorexia is the worst. Becase with anorexia you arent eating anything. With bulima you eat and throw it up so your wirght kind of changes alot like you loose and gain and loose again. But they are both really bad.
tasuki answered Monday May 15 2006, 8:57 am: They're not the same thing, that's why they have different names. Anorexia is starving yourself. Bulimia is eating a LOT of food and throwing it up. Hm...which one's worse...that's a tough one. I have to say, they're both equally bad, both physically and mentally. [ tasuki's advice column | Ask tasuki A Question ]
xo1234 answered Monday May 15 2006, 8:06 am: anorexia is when you don't eat, or you eat very little. you are constantly worried about your weight, and you usually are underweight, or become underweight.
bulimia is when you force yourself to throw up. either you eat and throw up, and some have both anorexia & bulimia where they don't eat but still throw up.
they are both harmful to your body, and I personally think they are equally harmful. [ xo1234's advice column | Ask xo1234 A Question ]
LilTx3 answered Sunday May 14 2006, 11:59 pm: Anorexia is when you starve yourself
and Bulimia is when you eat but you throw all your food up
they are similar but they are different ways of not eating
both cause very bad effects on your body :
Both Anorexia and Bulimia...
There are many similarities in both illnesses, the most common being the cause. There seems to be a common occurence of sexual and/or physical and emotional abuse in direct relation to eating disorders (though not all people living with Eating Disorders are survivors of abuse). There also seems to be a direct connection in some people to clinical Depression. The eating disorder sometimes causes the depression or the depression can lead to the eating disorder. All in all, eating disorders are very complex emotional issues -- Though they may seem to be nothing more than a dangerously obsessive weight concern on the surface
Bulimia
they will eat a large quantity of food in a relatively short period of time and then use behaviors such as taking laxatives or self-induced vomiting -- because they feel overwhelmed in coping with their emotions, or in order to punish themselves for something they feel they should unrealistically blame themselves for. This can be in direct relation to how they feel about themselves, or how they feel over a particular event or series of events in their lives. Those suffering with Bulimia may seek episodes of binging and purging to avoid and let out feelings of anger, depression, stress or anxiety. New research indicates that for a percentage of sufferers, a genetic predisposition may play a role in a sensitivity to develop Bulimia, with environmental factors being the trigger.
