Yes, a boxer would be a great choice! As long as the young ones don't play rough with the dog, it should not be a problem. It would probably be wise to buy a boxer puppy, not an adult. That way, it will learn to behave, and to not be so aggressive.

I have a boxer called Merson. Boxers are known for their docilness, merson is very good with children and even tho he has dermatitas in his ears, ehrn my 5 month old niece comes round and tugs at his ears he dosnt bat an eyelid, where it takes 6 of us to pin him down to put his drops in.
I would recomend a boxer as a family pet to anyone - they also make very good guard dogs

boxers are great doqs when it comes to protection on the other hand with liddol kids in the house i dont recomend one bcus they could get too rough w. the kids and the kids could pull on its ear and this kind of dog could react by biting .. alothough its great for protection mayb you should wait til they are older to get tha kind of a dog

Boxer's are not particularly aggressive dogs.

But, they are very excitable dogs with a lot of energy.

Like any dog, you need to train it from the beginning. I used to have a rottweiler, who was excellant around my young neice, but we had the experience with dogs enough to know to train him well.

You should also start from the beginning by teaching your kids the proper ways to behave around the dog. Such as, DON'T LET THEM PULL HIS TAIL. Someone mentioned that you wouldn't want the dog to bite if your two year old was to pull the dogs tail. And that is true, but you wouldn't want your child to think it's ok to pull a dogs tail, even if it was a golden retriever or lab. Golden retrievers and labs can bite too.

One of the main causes of dog bites is because most children aren't taught how to behave around dogs.

So, boxers are excellant dogs, if you don't mind the really excitable playfullness that their known for. They also do have powerful front paws, they're called boxers because they normall "box" with their front paws. It's really cute and funny to see them do it to the rocks or playtoys, but you need to teach them not to do it to people.

I'd recomend getting one just as much as I would recomend getting a golden retriever, just as long as you teach the dog, and your kids how to behave around each other.

Thats a good question. If it was me I wouldnt get dog known for fighting. Maybe a family dog like a golden retriever, lab, colley ect.. See if you got a boxer you wouldn't want something to happen to your kids or youy 2 yr old pulling on its tail. I dont think it matters how much you trust it. Just one bite is all it would take.Hope it helps.

yes and no, if you dont train it well it can be a bad pet and can be mean, but if you train it right it can be one of the best breeds to have as a pet... all depends on how you train it.
