Christian opinions, please!

Question Posted Tuesday September 27 2005, 7:19 pm

I am a Christian who doesn't go to church. I pray every night and believe that Jesus died for our sins and that God exists.
My question is that why do so many other Christians put down other ones that don't go to church? I have a relationship with God, too! Thanks.

Most of the Christians that put you down for not going to church are probabley just insecure and need to put someone down to make themselves feel good I cant see how in gods eyes people who go to church love him any more than people who praise him but dont go i happen to think the opposite i think that people who go to church need that motivation and aren't strong enough to show god love on their own and need to be around people who are the same. just do what you think is right i know its easy to be mad at them but you should probabley feel sorry for them

Hebrews 10:24-25 says, "And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching."

God commands believers to assemble together to worship, fellowship, serve, etc. How can you provoke your fellow believers if you're not taking the time to be around them. How can you place yourself under the proper authority of the local church if you're not attending? Christ is the Head of the church, the universal body of believers, and He has given authority to undershephards. You must choose to submit to this authority and to God's teaching on church membership and attendance. Believers still live in unredeemed flesh meaning they need accountability. Where does your accountability come from if not from a local church full of believers that love and care for you? Study this in God's Word and allow Him to challenge your thinking.

By the way, I don't condone Christians "putting down" other Christians for not going to church. I do believe in proper confrontation and exhortation, though. It must be done in a spirit of love and meekness.

Ok. Here is what I think. The people that put down ppl that don't go to church is cause they might not have a relationship with him or if they do it might not be that strong. And this way they might be feeling that since you don't go then why should have a relationship with God. At less you pray everynight. I don't go to church but I still belive in him very strongly. And I know some people that don't go to church but they are really strong Christian's.

Well i hope i helped. Good-bye

Salvation is by grace alone. It's not about going to church or not going to church. However, you won't grow if you don't interact with other Christians AND you are taking away the pleasure and joy for other Christians to interact with you. Think of it this way: There's a roaring campfire. You are one of the logs. What happens if your log is taken out of the fire and laid aside? Not only will that log eventually go out, the fire itself has to work harder to keep going.

So going or not going to church doesn't mean you don't believe or aren't saved, but it's spiritually dangerous not to be part of a church.

There is nothing wrong with not attending church. It's awesome that you pray every night.

The thing is, church isn't just a place to learn Bible stories. It's a place to meet people, the same people every week and grow with them. How many places can you go to find good Christian friends who will be able to understand and maybe help your problem from a Christian standpoint? Church is a main place. Fellowship - pretty much sums it up. Worshipping God with other people, growing together, helping each other.

As in Ecclesiastes 4:10, "If one falls down, his friend can pick him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up!"

It is wrong for many Christians to look down upon non attending Christians, but going to church can really help you build your personal relationship with God.

crazygoober2006 answered Tuesday September 27 2005, 8:57 pm:
It is good that you have a relationship w/ God and that you pray and believe strongly. But that's not all Christianity is about. You go to church to encourage other Christians. Sure, there are Christians at school, and that's cool too, but it's wonderful to worship w/ people, and praise God. Hebrews 10:25 says "Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another-and all the more as you see the Day approaching." We are also to commune with each other. Even though no church is perfect, you generally learn new points of view on what is said in the bible and it can challenge you as a Christian, and I don't mean challenge as in like a test. Just something you might learn to strengthen your relationship w/ God. If you have any more questions so I don't say to much here, feel free to ask! I hope I helped a little bit. Good luck, and I hope that you consider trying different churches someday, and maybe after that you'll find the right place for you.

you know what, i feel the same way. church is not for everyone. i'm forced to go but i really believe that if i worship God in my own way, i would have a better realationship with him. i really dislike getting dressed up for it. other christians will put you down because the need to feel like better christians than you. church is the "good" thing to do and anyone whoe doesnt is automatically a sinner in their eyes. dont let them pressure you... he's your God too and you dont need to live up to other sinner's expectations. <3

♥ You dont have to go to church to believe in god. You should believe in him in your own unique way. & from your heart. Those christians I guess believe that you have to do this & that in order to be a follower of god. A lot of people believe in organized religon. ( where you must follow your religon`s rules ) I dont believe in that. You should have your own way in believing in god. The way you do is just fine. Whatever you feel comfortable with. As long as you believe in him & when you worship it comes from your heart your fine! I hope I helped! ♥ always, Lauren

Same here. I dont go to Church and ppl think im not a real Christian. They arent real Christians because the bible says "Judge not so you shall not be judged" and they are here saying your not a real Christian when you are? They dont have that right, so blow them off.

I'm a Christian, also. I don't go to Church either. I'm actually kind of stuck right now. I know God's real, but I don't believe everything they say about him, I believe a bit in Evolution, too.

Anyways, to answer your question, when people ask me if I go to church or if they can meet me at Church, and I tell them I don't go, they treat me weird like "OMG YOU DON'T BELIEVE IN GOD?!?!111" but its not true. If anyone asks you/tells you that, just tell them simply that you DO believe in God, and you don't have to be Christian and believe in him if you only go to Church.

Because there have been serial killers & rapists that go to Church like everyday, and they say they believe in God, but it still doesn't make them a good person. ^_^
