Q: Okay, my boyfriend's name is Justin. He has a best friend, Aaron, and Aaron's girlfriend's name is Brittany. That's so you all know who I am talking about.
Anyways, we're all going to Homecoming (hopefully, but that's a long story.) Since the guys bought Brittany and I jewelry, we want to do something special for them. We want to make them dinner. There's a few things wrong with that though, like the fact that Justin has been working all week so he could pay for dinner on Saturday night before Homecoming. Even though I told him he didn't have to. He complains about having to spend all of that money, but yet he won't take it when I say that he doesn't have to take me out to dinner.
Now, I was wondering how I should bring it up to him that me and Brittany wanna make him and Aaron dinner and possibly dessert before Homecoming without Justin getting mad that he's been working and earning all of that money. He's kicked out of school for awhile so he has to go to work anyways, so should I just tell him to put it towards his truck? Brittany and I really wanna do something special for the guys because they spent all of that money on us and it makes us feel bad. So how should we go about this?
Also, what are some things we could make? We were thinking lasanga, rolls, and brownies for dessert. Any other ideas? Thanks so much, sorry it's so long!

Hey, I'm sure he'll understand if you and Brittany want to do something reallly special for them, tell him that the money he has been saving has not been put to waste. If he really wants to do something for you, you could tell him that putting towards the truck will make you happier because you can ride in it with him. something. Make him feel special and tell him you really appreciate him working hard to make you feel good.
Lasagna, rolls, brownies sounds really good! I don't know how much you guys cook and all, but for a simple idea, pasta would be great. it's not too hard to make. You can't go wrong with fettucini alfredo. Lasagna seems like a really good idea though. For dessert, you could also make little things like cheesecake bars, key lime pie, easy ice cream desserts. There are a ton of good recipes at www.kraftfoods.com
hope i helped and have fun!

Cool! You should make it your official trademark recipe. At family gatherings, school events, anything bake them and bring em! pretty soon everyone will want to know your recipe. But it's up to you if you want to share it or not. Keeping it a secret will have people begging for it! have some fun!

Q: I am a Christian who doesn't go to church. I pray every night and believe that Jesus died for our sins and that God exists.
My question is that why do so many other Christians put down other ones that don't go to church? I have a relationship with God, too! Thanks.

There is nothing wrong with not attending church. It's awesome that you pray every night.
The thing is, church isn't just a place to learn Bible stories. It's a place to meet people, the same people every week and grow with them. How many places can you go to find good Christian friends who will be able to understand and maybe help your problem from a Christian standpoint? Church is a main place. Fellowship - pretty much sums it up. Worshipping God with other people, growing together, helping each other.
As in Ecclesiastes 4:10, "If one falls down, his friend can pick him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up!"
It is wrong for many Christians to look down upon non attending Christians, but going to church can really help you build your personal relationship with God.

Q: i'm in this thing called PYO and it's an extra orchestra thing i can do. there is a lower level called PYS that i was in last spring. the new conductor makes it seem like he took two 8th graders(me and my friend) (it's really hard to get in PYO) b/c he needed people not b/c he thought we were good enough. i don't feel like i'm good enough to be in it b/c everyone else owns like at least 1-2 instruments of their own and i still have a rental. (b/c i can't find own that i like to buy) and they all can read tenor clef and i have no idea how to play it. and we have to do 3 octave G scales all the way in to the stratsphere... i'm so confused half of the time! what should i do?
p.s. i'm gonna get extra help w/the music from my teacher at school but i wont have a lot of time to do that b/c of other activities

First of all, don't feel bad because people actually own instruments. Many people rent and there is nothing wrong with that. In fact, i rent. In the end, people don't care if you rent or own, they care about how you play and that is what matters. If you read bass clef (ex. cello) learning the tenor clef can indeed be tricky. first of all, tenor clef is five whole steps higher than bass clef, for example, if i showed a note where a c would be on a bass clef, that would be a g five pitches above the written note. mainly, keep working on reading tenor clef, because it takes quite a bit of practice. ask your teacher to give you exercises and stuff with that clef to help you learn faster.
as far as your instrument, if you like your instrument, and you feel comfortable with it, it's fine! don't worry about other details and don't let anyone else intimidate you.
Have fun!

Q: When should you start visiting colleges and looking at them?

Hi, you know a lot of people have your questions. The truth is, it's never really too early to start looking into and researching colleges. I started when i was in my freshman year at high school. Write a list of the schools you want to go to: 1 dream school, 1 fallback school, and 3 schools you want to go to. Every year or maybe every semester, after your plans on your future change, or maybe your preference for college changes, make a new list and compare with your older ones. Pretty soon you will have a long list of colleges you are interested in. Narrow it down, and find the ones that are right for you (majors, city, student life, professors, etc).
You should start visiting college campuses by the summer before your senior year in high school. Get to know the campus and the feeling of it. It really helps to visit a college and any time from the second semester of junior year to near end of senior year is acceptable.
Good luck!
