Love?

Question Posted Wednesday August 17 2005, 9:45 pm

I completely accept that no one else can tell someone whether they are in love or not but does anyone else find it a little silly when people say they are completely in love with someone they have never dated or kissed, or dated for a week or so?

I almost find it offensive. I don't like that word being taken so lightly and thrown around. Does this annoy anyone else here, or am I being too judgmental?

I completely agree with you. I read all this shit on here, and there is a lot of 13 and 14 year olds talking about being in love. What they are feeling is just puppy "love".. And I honestly don't think they will expierence "love" until they get older. I understand where your coming from, and yes it does annoy me too. I hate when I read that these kids are loving this boyfriend and that girlfriend... They are too young to be in love. Well, some times I can't say that. My cousin has been dating her boyfriend since she was 14, and she's 16 now... And I know that they are in love, they are a prime example of teen love, and I can most definitly see them getting married. But I totally agree with the whole love thing, that the word should not be just thrown around.

I AGREE! people just throw it out there and dont realize the weight of the word! "i love you" has a LOT of sub-text. youre not judgemental ;)

sides-when a person says i love you to another person for the first time it should be romantic and a big deal!!! but nowadays its like this:
siberboy1:i love u
girlygirl2: love u 2
siberboy1:ok so um i guess ill see you in skewl tomorrow
girlygirl2:i guess so um ok bye
siberboy1: uhh bye
((this are just names i made up))

but yea thats wut i see online its SO dumb!! like i hate when people are just going out with somebody for the sake of saying the have a bf! like WTF. i hate that with a passion! o and then they dont even talk or wutever.

ok well you can see i have a lot to say on this subject so anyone can ask me about it!

please rate

I agree with you. It is thrown around so lightly as to become almost meaningless. So, if you're being to judgemental then so am I. :)

well i think that love is whatever you make it. love only exists if you make it exist. if you just like someone inside but you jusy "say" u love them then its not love, when you love someone on the inside and out and you have a feeling of compasion for then then thats love and you want to be with them always. some people judje love in right and wrong ways but the only way you can make it right is if you "try" to make it right. i dont think you are being too judgemental because everybody has their own opinion in the game of love, but love is what you make it.

all i have to say is, who are you to judge people?

just because they have never dated or kissed, doesnt mean they havent talked enough to get to know eachother.

plus younger girls say it to say it ALLL the time. Yeah its obvious they dont know what LOVE really is. but let kids be kids.

if its something that "offends" you then.... tough..

It sure is silly. I think that you have to really know the person, devote yourself to that person (NOT see another cute guy and "fall in love" with him suddenly) and appreciate them for who they are, not the way they look, to really love someone. Like, if they put on a lot of weight you would still love them. And the person has to make you feel good about yourself, too. It drives me crazy when the girls in my class sometimes get a good look at a cute boy and go "Omigod! He's so HOT! I'm totally in love!" This kind of stuff happens in literature all the time, which I think is even crazier. Think of Les Miserables, Colette gets a good look at Marius and she's never even talked to him and she's all like "I'm in love!" or in Romeo and Juliet, they always think they're in love and stuff, but they're only in like 4 scenes together! I just hate that.

So I just wanted you to know you're not alone

No your deffinately not being to judgmental i know people who through that word around like nothing and they just say it just because they're going out with the person and they don't mean it and who is to say that if someone for example: me and my boyfriend of almost 2 years say i love you to eachother-that we don't mean it...when your inlove and love someone you just know. people use "love" the wrong way because they really don't know wat true love is until after they've had their heart broken a couple times. when you find someone you trully love and you say it and mean it then people say that your not inlove or you don't know wat love is then that person can go screw off because they don't know how you feel for someone and just because your young or w/e doesnt mean you can't trully love someone or be inlove! it really gets on my nerves! people through it around when its not true then wonder why people get hurt

yeah it annoys me too but most girls do that and some guys...it is because they dont know what love is yet....they will learn after their heart is broken a couple times though....

I find it offensive to because alot of people dont really know wat love is or what it truley means and they are using the word "love" in the wrong kind of way. You should never say it unless you truley mean it or not.
