cheerPrincess11 answered Thursday August 4 2005, 8:42 pm: Not being very flexible is not a problem. As you get into gymnastics you will become more and more felxible. Learning gymnastics can be frustrating butits a great feeling to accomplish things and to do gymnastics is just fun. I did it for a period of time and i am not too flexible but i learned a lot of new tricks along the way. Every night or mornign maybe do some leg stretches and arm stretches, practice doing splits, eventually your muscles will get stronger and so will you. Have fun with it and relax... trust me the only time people will be thinking about you is if there saying "wow she's good!" good luck i hope i helped

X0C0URT answered Wednesday August 3 2005, 1:49 pm: Well yeah, you do have to be pretty flexible. If you want to get into gymnastics you should stretch a lot every day. Also start working on the easy things like cartwheels, back bends and splits. And I'm not gonna lie, it is hard to learn gymnastics. It takes a long time to learn different things. But once you get the hang of it, there's lots of stuff you can learn and it's really fun. :-)
x_mystery answered Wednesday August 3 2005, 10:32 am: I do gymnastics, and I'm not that flexible either. You do have to have some flexibility, to do almost every event, even just bars or beam, but your coach should understand that not everybody can do their middle splits first time off. When doing something that requires flexibility, go as far as you can go, and DON'T OVER EXTEND, if it hurts, stop. And your coach should be fine with that. If you work at gymnastics for a few years, you will find that you become much more flexibile, but it will take lots of time. Until then, you should be able to do gymnastics just fine, but you may struggle with some things, but so do most other newcomers to the sport. [ x_mystery's advice column | Ask x_mystery A Question ]

xRoOxiSxBlOnDex answered Wednesday August 3 2005, 12:14 am: First of all, gymnastics is REALLY fun. Expecially competitive. If you're confident [or even if you aren't] definitely give that a try because it builds confidence and will help your skills too.
When you start learning gymnastics and working out more, your body will naturally become more flexible. As your skills improve you will become more and more flexible, and your skills get better as you do them more and more.
one_of_a_kind_chicka answered Tuesday August 2 2005, 11:29 pm: For gymnastics being flexible is important but you can do without it. You should work on it though and all you have to do is stetch everyday while your watching tv or something. it really helps trust me! it depends on the person when you want to know if its hard. some people that start it when they're older have a hard time but others learn it quick, just remember it gets harder as you go on and you have to work!
cookierat123 answered Tuesday August 2 2005, 9:54 pm: i used to do tumbling which is just like gymnastics but without the bars and stuff so i should be good at answering this question and any other question you have. ok well, you do have to be flexible to tell you the truth. but you can still go for it if your not. bc they teach you easy tricks to help you get more flexible. its not hard at all. i hope i helped.
