Maybe if you explaied your situation to some employers at grocery stores, hair salns, and pet shops you could get the to let you work for a small salary. even if its small, anything helps right? Well at grocery stores you could bow stuff and sweep the store. At hair salons you could sweep hair and refill bottles and sterilzed supplies. At a pet shop you couls sweep the store, clean animal cages, and help carry things to customers' cars. I hope that helps.

There aren't really a whole lot of jobs for 13 year olds. What you could do is put up a flyer somewhere in your area and offer to do odd jobs.
Clean someones garage or mow.Shop for a senior citizen...that sort of thing. Try putting flyers on bulletin boards in the laundry mat, grocery store, places like that. :)

That is very thoughtful of you to want to help out your folks.
However there is a little thing called a Child Labor law that insures kids aren't made to work.
Enjoy your youth and leave the stress to the adults. You will have pleanty of time to stress over bills in the years to come. Just be a teenager and enjoy it now.

Karen answered Thursday May 26 2005, 4:01 pm:
There are basically no real jobs that would hire a 13 year old. You can only do basic work that you still would be paid for such as mowing lawns; walking dogs; watching pets; cleaning houses; washing cars; making crafts and selling them; doing the paper route; sellings things at yard/garage sales; tutoring; and 'jobs' like that.

Okay, this seems to be my answer to all problems but a paper route works great, as long as thy don't pay hourly thn you get robbed, but I have one that makes 37$ a week and it's just 60 papers cuz i'm lazy. :)

Also i think it's wonderful that you're trying to help. I originally got mine to pay for part of my super-high tuition at catholic highschool.

Peace!

Michele answered Thursday May 26 2005, 3:04 pm:
Well it is a good thing that you mom is going to college She is trying her best. She is setting a good example for you, make sure that you go to college to. Or you'll be stuck like your parents are. They can give you money for the things you want, because they have to pay for the things you need like food, clothing and shelter, and utility bills. But it is good that you want your own job and want to earn some money.
I know a girl you age who did a good job, and made some real money walking other peoples pets. and pet sitting. It is less stressful than babysitting. You canmake up some flyers and pass them out. The flyer should say that you are willing to walk peoples dogs every day, and that you are responsbile, and reliable and trustworthy.
Put your phone number on it, and pass them out in your neighbor hood. All people who own dogs, KNOW that their pets should be walked. it is needed for good health. You could remind them of that in your flyer. Also you have to be very reliable about showing up, even when it rains, and even if you have other plans. You can't make other plans when it is time to walk the dogs because people will be counting on you and that is what having a job is all about. I hope this helps.

sunkistsarah answered Thursday May 26 2005, 2:41 pm:
most places do not care how mature you are...if your not the appropiate age then they wont hire you...i am 16 and applied at about 50 places before i got a job, i started appying in febuary and just got the job last week so its not as easy as people think. If there are any little shops around where you live that dont involve alcohol or kitchen with hot thing (i.e. grills, stoves) you could ask them about a job. Maybe like a small ice cream shop or small clothing store...you could go to a grocery store and see if they need baggers or stock people. I know these dont sound vbery good but where i live, it doesnt matter if they have no one working there and they need people, if your not the right age they dont care. Its not really them, but laws say no one under 15 is to work and some places you have to be 16 and some you have to be 18 and some 21...so you just really need to look. Good luck!! and i know you said no babysitting but if you got some people that you regularly babysat for and had set prices, it may not be bad money...

FrEe2bMe answered Thursday May 26 2005, 1:59 pm:
Hey there. Well, first off I just want to etend my condolences to your and your family. I hope you dad can get better as soon as possible and I think that's great that your mom has the will to go back to school and try to do well. You should be really proud of yourself too. it is a hard thing to deal with at your age and you seem really level headed. Now as for some jobs try:
-Pet Sitting
-Plant Sitting
-Yard Work/Lawn Care
-Making Purses or other accesories and selling them at a craftsmall
-Delivering Newspapers
-Cooking for elderly or the unable
-Cleaning houses
-Making computer flyers and grapphics
-Garage Sale
-Bake Sale

Most people aren't going to jump at the chance to hire a 13 year old to do work for them, so you are going to have to make them want you. Try posting your name, number, and services in a community paper or neighborhood magazine. You may want to make a portfoliop or some type of resume to show people the kind of work you do. You could post flyers on signs in the area with your info on it. Just work hard and don't give up. If you need anymore ideas or help, or just need someone to talk to, feel free to contact me. Good luck, and God bless. :)
