What to do?
Well I have a party on Friday and it is a pool party.. but I am also just starting my period... I know I can use a tampon.. but I am afraid it will leak.. will it? and should I use it?

if you have a heavy flow it might but you just have to remember to change it every now and then. but really if you use one you should be good for the pool! i recomend using one! and if you want to use a good brand i recomend using kotex! hope it helped!

Don't worry, there is a small chance of you leaking. If you are just starting your period, then your flow shouldn't be heavy by tomorrow. The tampon you use won't leak and if you use a tampon that is the right size for your flow, then there is basically no chance of it leaking. You should wear a tampon for this pool party.

If your period is very heavy then use the strongest tampon but just don't stay in the pool for that long-there is nothing stopping you from getting out of the pool every now and then and checking to see if you are ok-and don't wear white! You should be fine and change your tampon as soon a s you get out of the pool.

I seriously doubt that your tampon will leak. It only has a chance of leaking if you haven't changed it for five or six hours. If you are really worried then use a high absorbancy and change it as often as you can. I'm sure you will be fine.

Wear the tampon. You can't go swimmin with a pad. And I acutally heard from someone who said their health teacher said this (though I'm not so sure if I believe them) that you can't bleed when you're in water. It might just mean like if you're in the bath tub or something like that. I'm not completely positive because I didn't hear it straight from the teacher.
But anyway, who's house is it at? If it's yours then just to be even more careful go inside and change it every 3 hours instead of 4-6. It shouldn't leak, but I guess there' always that chance.
If it's not at your house bring a LOT of backup (maybe 5 extras), a pad or two, and some extra clothes and an extra bathing suit. That way if it leaks and it leaks through your bathing suit, then you can change and go back to the party, or change into clothes and just sit and watch everyone and then you can use a pad and not risk as much of a leak.

if you stat in the pool you wont leak, so one you get out run to the bathroom real fast and change and put on a pad

Yeah, use it! Use like, a thick one that will last longer. And bring a purse with extras in case. Make sure you dont wear a light/white bathing suit either! ps- cold water actually stops your periood momentarily, so it wont be as heavy anyway!

Pool parties are fun! :) Anyways, just use a tampon. It will be fine. I've heard that water can help slow the flow too, but I don't know if thats true or not. It really shouldn't leak though, but defintely use it! It's the best thing to do for the pool party.Have fun (at the party, i mean)!

the water could go inside, and yes, the tampon will absorb it, but you will find that the water keeps the blood from flowing, and so when you do change your tampon it is mostly wet from the water, and not too much blood, thats how it is for me!!
yes you should use it, but the water usually keeps it from leaking!! just go and change it ever few hours if you want!!!

It's fine to use a tampon. Wear the super one and change it every two hours to be on the safe side. It won't leak as long as you put it in the right way you'll be fine. Have fun, just try not to worry about it too much! And before you walk out with your bikini- make sure your tampon string isn't hanging out! I've seen quite a few girls that did that and let me tell you, it wasn't that attractive.

dude TAMPON!! seriously, never go with a pad in bodies of water...'specialy the ocean...JAWS> Anyway, bring back-up tampons, so if you feel insecure you can just pop one of them babies in!! My friend just spent a week in the Dominican Republic with her period...she's can back alive and with a sexy Canadian bf!!
