Ugh

Question Posted Monday April 11 2005, 6:59 pm

Ok, well I have REALLY dark circles under my eyes! I don't how to get rid of them , and i get almost 9 hours of sleep! Ive tried falling asleep earlier, but it wouldn't work even if i could actually fall asleep earlier. I hate them and they look so ugly! Any ideas of how i can get rid of these ugly things, or at least cover them up?

Have you been diagnosed with allergies? If not, you should consider seeing an allergist and being tested. I used to have bad dark circles, and when I went to the allergist he said that allergies could be part of what caused them. My allergies have improved over the years and so have my dark circles, but thery seem to be the least visible when I actually take my allergy medication. So, you might want to try getting to an allergist. Good luck!

use a foundation stick, but use it in a color that is LIGHTER than the color on your face, that way it will **brightten!** under your eyes not darken it. plus there is like this kinda expensive green powder stuf to use but i never tried it..it doesnt make your circles green or anything..goodluck!

i heard that dark circles are heriditary so you cant really get rid of them (ugh) try using a light concealer in the dark area. all u need to do is apply a few dots then rub it around. <3

Ok...this is going to be long, but hopefully it will help you!! :D

First you need to choose an eye treatment. Face creams and oils are too heavy for the eye area. They can block tear ducts, causing puffiness, so you should choose a specific eye treatment that won't aggravate your skin. There are hundreds of products to choose from. Gel-based ones are great for young or oily skins, and are refreshing to use. However, most women find light creams and balms more suitable.

Use a tiny amount of the eye treatment, as you don't want to overload this area. It's better to apply it regularly in small quantities than apply lots only occasionally. Apply with your ring finger, as this is the weakest one on your hand and won't stretch the delicate skin. This will help keep your skin more supple, and prevent premature wrinkling in this area.

These ideas can also help:

~ Gently tap your skin with your ring finger when you're applying the eye cream to encourage the excess fluid to drain away.

~ Store creams in the refridgerator, as the coldness will also help reduce puffiness.

~ Place strips of grated potato under your eyes to help reduce swelling. Strawberries and cucumber will also help reduce swelling.

~ Fill a small bowl with iced water or ice-cold milk. Soak a cotton pad with the liquid and lie down with the dampened pads over your eyes. Replace the pads as soon as they become warm. Continue for 15 minutes. As well as reducing puffiness, this treatment will brighten the whites of your eyes.

Best of luck to you!

~ Amanda ;)

Drinking more water helps, it could be that you are slightly dehydrated. See if that works, other than that, I have no ideas for make-up tips, sorry.

OMG I have that too. Uhh I hate it. I've had it all my life. The ONLY way to get rid of it, is concealer. I have to re-apply of course, every two hours or so. But theres nothing else you can do. Sleeping is not the problem..thats just how your circles are. It sucks I know..

the phyicans formula concealer is good, and there is one espically for under eye circles. also, its opposite colors. so, if its green use a yellow concealer, thats all i remember.

well i read the other peoples answers and i have to say they werent to helpful, make sure to keep getting sleep and doing things to make you smile, and if your putting on mascara correctly then it shouldnt be that, also get some concealer, and you dont have tto have three layers like someone else said, all you need to do i buy one that is LIGHTER than your skin tone, the circles under your eyes are already dark so why put dark color on it right!

Karen answered Monday April 11 2005, 7:19 pm:
To get rid or cover up dark circles, you need to buy and use a concealer, whether it's from Cover Girl or Maybelline, any concealer will work. You put it over your dark circles and it will cover them up and then you just put foundation/cover up/powder over your face.

punkrockprincess answered Monday April 11 2005, 7:06 pm:
Use concealer. And then over the concealer you're supposed to put foundation over that and then powder. And then blush and eye shadow or anything else you want. You can buy concealer anywhere like your local drug store.
