I've always felt that there was no need to be in a relationship at my age(14) but i was just asked out and i think i have fallen in love. but my mother tells me there is no way you can fall in love so young. do you think its possible to fall in love at such a young age? if you dont think so what do you think i should do, i dont want to dump him or anything, but i dont want to waste my time and energy
if there is no point to our relationship.
RBfootballTD answered Sunday April 3 2005, 4:51 pm: im sure this happens very rarely, but your mother is wrong, unfortunatly, very wrong... you can fall in love, you know exactly when you do too. you are when you start questioning "am i really in love?" that is when you are. you can show her this if you want, but if you cant fall in love, then how are you supposed to love her? i mean im sure you love your parents, or your friends, its a differant kind of love, but its all "love". I fell in love in the 6th grade with someone, and guess who im with right now... the same person, and my love has only gotten stronger. so yeah, you can fall in love! IveGotPinkJazzShoes answered Sunday April 3 2005, 1:10 pm: Your thinking about things WAY to much! your only 14 so just take it easy! no0one can tell you how you will know you are in love because its just a feeling. it had hit people straight in the face so they immediatly know or creep up on them so they dont even realise it until they just have the urge to just blurt it out. but even if your not in love now that doesnt mean you should end your relationship. your 14 so just enjoy it and have fun. think of it as a test run for later life. with each relationship you gain confidence and learn about yourself and other people so you can eventually find someone you love. so dont dismiss it. you need relationships even if they dont go anywhere! texas_girl answered Sunday April 3 2005, 12:29 pm: love is possibly the best thing and the worst in the world. Im not saying that you cant fall in love at 14, but you DID say, "But i was just asked out..." and eventhough you might feel really strongly for a person, it takes a long time to determine if your in love. If you really like this guy then prove every jerk out there that says your not and stay with this guy. But only if that is what you truely want

BeautifulMadness answered Sunday April 3 2005, 10:57 am: You can fall in love at any age - you just might not know it when it happens if you are particulary young. There is always a point to a relationship - whether it's to make you happy, even if it only lasts a little while, to make you learn from your mistakes, to give you the chance to love someone, or whatever, it will have a meaning - so don't give up just because someone has a different opinion to you. Only you can decide whether your relationship is worth pursuing or not - not your mother's opinions.
Besides, you don't have to be in love. You could just love the guy...there is a difference :) And love is enough. No-one expects you to be so in love that you're hearing wedding bells, and especially not at 14.
Good luck!
Blessed Be,

Teza answered Sunday April 3 2005, 9:52 am: Yes its possible! Dont let no one tell you different. Just because we are young doesnt mean we cant love someone. Most teenages dont know what love is. They would just say I love you to their b/f or g/f without meaning it and just to be nice. It might take you a while just to acually know if you really love him. You will know tho! x0 [ Teza's advice column | Ask Teza A Question ]
Lara answered Sunday April 3 2005, 8:54 am: Hey! I think it's entirely possible to fall in love at such a young age. True, you're young, but you also have emotions and feelings that would allow you to fall in love. [ Lara's advice column | Ask Lara A Question ]
sexy_kitty_12 answered Sunday April 3 2005, 7:03 am: right then you love him;there is such thing as love at 14 because my mom and da met when they were 14 and they are married now but you need to tell your boyfriend how you feel and ask him how he feels bout you
to have a boyfriend you need to make time a boyfriend is not just like a teddy bear that you can throw away whenever you want then pick it up agen.
HyperactiveMiss answered Sunday April 3 2005, 5:22 am: Ok, I am fifteen and I was in your position last year when I was fourteen, which was just a few months ago. I really thought relationships before college were stupid and I found myself always annoyed when I heard students saying "I love you" to their boyfriend/girlfriend. There's not point if you're going to break up anyway and move on right?
Hmm...well...since then my views have changed. And yes, I have a boyfriend of four months now. I do believe I am in love. He took me out of my own depression and emptiness, and I did the same for him.
Even if your relationship doesn't work out, think of it this way, at least you gained experience and you are one step closer to finding your soul mate. You never would have experienced these things without your boyfriend would you? Even if you are not together forever, at least you helped each other out through the hard times.
You said you were JUST asked out and you think you are in love. I wouldn't be so sure as to say whether you really are in love or aren't yet. I think you're just really happy you've been asked out and your feelings are taking over your head. You should go out with the boy and THEN decide if it is love. It might be love, it might not. You decide.
My mom is the same as yours, she doesn't want me dating till I'm like...done with college because she doesn't believe love can be found at a young age. Shh, don't tell her I have a boyfriend. haha.
I DO think it is POSSIBLE to fall in love at a young age. That does NOT mean it will last forever though and it does NOT mean you WILL find true love. It is only a possiblity.
So I say, go for it. I hope you find your true love, and if it doesn't work out, keep on trying. Dating is about experience and bonding with someone and finding out what you need and want. You won't always find love at first, but it is better to have gained the experience than to not have at all. [ HyperactiveMiss's advice column | Ask HyperactiveMiss A Question ]

redxroses answered Sunday April 3 2005, 12:45 am: You can fall in love at that age in my opinion, but not if it's your first relationship. A lot of people have no idea what they're doing when they first start going out with someone. Sometimes they assume it's love, maybe that's that you're doing. :) Don't dumb him just because you may or may not be in love with him. You're young! You have a lot of time and energy to spare, have fun with your relationship. :) [ redxroses's advice column | Ask redxroses A Question ]
Laura_Ashanti answered Sunday April 3 2005, 12:32 am: I think life (ESPECIALLY when your young) is all about taking chances and to, for once, not think of the consequences of things, but rather the enjoyment we will get out of it. I think your mother is going to protect you from getting your heart broken, but it has to happen sometime & she can't shelter you from love forever. I think that you can fall in love at any age. In fact, the purest love seems to be when your young because your so care-free. Love is not a waste of time or energy. It just sometimes fades. But, even though you may end up better off without your boyfriend, Im sure you wouldnt trade all the good times you shared w/ your Bf. I think you should keep the fire burning as long as you can! Why not? ♥ Laura [ Laura_Ashanti's advice column | Ask Laura_Ashanti A Question ]
feverdancer03 answered Sunday April 3 2005, 12:24 am: woah girl.....finding love isnt the big reason of haveing a relationship at your age..which is also mine. Your supposed to go out for fun, and the experience! I guess it also teaches what kinds of guys are good for you, and which arent, and they teach you looks dont matter and its about the perdons personality. I do think you can fall in love at a young age... Some people take most of their life to find their soul mate, some people, find them really quick. Adults are to serious about it, but kids play around with dating, and sometimes find that right person....but would never really know untill you got older and went out with some other people. Since this is your first boyfriend, you might not understand what love really is yet..Hop ei helpedBy the way, if you think your to young to fall in love, and dump a guy because you dont love him (yet) how will you ever fall in love? You would always think the relationship is pointless before you got to know the guy. Your not wasting time and energy with this guy..unless hes not treating you well, but u didnt mention that so....keep with him. [ feverdancer03's advice column | Ask feverdancer03 A Question ]

gakkuhideto answered Saturday April 2 2005, 11:59 pm: Sure it's possible to fall in love at 14, but it's a different kind of love than what a more mature person would feel. You're probably thinking about how you feel about the person, rather than what you would do for the person. That's okay, you're still fairly naive. But don't think there is no point to having a relationship. The point of dating is to try being with different kinds of people, so you know exactly what you want in a relationship. You will have many boyfriends over the years, and fourteen is a perfectly fine age to start. [ gakkuhideto's advice column | Ask gakkuhideto A Question ]
