Question Posted Friday March 4 2005, 11:29 pm

Why is it when I look at certain people's typing, my eyes begin to burn? My eyes burn especially with sticky caps, and internet abbreviations.
(luv, gurl, boi, seckz, lol, brb, kay, ur, u, r, etc)
It's almost unbearable, how do I make it stop?

Happens to me - you have to get off the comp for a little while, or shut your eyes for a few mins. Hope I've helped ♥

I know, it irritates me too. Unfortunately, there's nothing you can do to make it stop, it's just unintelligent people trying to get a break from typing. And for the sticky caps... that's just... pointless. It takes forever to type.

Write a script and program it into your browser that filters them out, or replaces them with proper English. You'll only be able to do that with an open-source browser.

Or, you could adapt my method -- killing those who participate in such typing felonies.

We can start a party and forge a Fascist government, and go on purges of those who refuse to type well.

It will be fun for all.

I, being a well known grammar, spelling, and capitalization nazi, feel your pain. The only solution is to either collect the entire internet together in one room and give them all a giant English lesson, or just kill off all the offenders.

If you can't stand to read the typing of others, get off the internet. Nothing anyone can do will solve the stupidity of others. But you can always try! Kill a stereotypical 13 year old internet user. Remember, only YOU can make a difference!

You just don't like when people use chat speak. Your like one of those people who cuss the shit out of someone just for useing it. Thats fine just tell the person to stop typing like that. And if you don't know the person. Don't talk to them...It's all over the place now. Like on comercials and stuff like that. So i'd get used to it if i were you! Sorry for the forwardness...

Boy, I hate those internet abbreviations too, I thought maybe it was my age, maybe it's not! I'm glad I'm not the only one.I don't think it's going to stop anytime soon though.I just ignore it myself.I don't mean to offend anyone but it always remings me of grade school kid's who can't spell. Perhaps we need a I hate foolish looking gibberish group???
