Christmas time is here...

Question Posted Thursday December 16 2004, 4:49 pm

I've been going out with my boyfriend for almost a year now and I love his family to death. Since he's away at college they invite me to visit them alot and I stop to see his mom at work whenever I go to the mall. I have a problem, though- I got his Christmas gift and everything, but should I get something for his family? His mom seems like the kind of person that would get something for me, but I would feel really bad if she did and I didn't get them anything, and I bet she would vice versa. He has an older brother, a younger brother, a sister, dog, and mom and dad. They're really nice to me, but I'm lost on the dating/present etiquette here. Should I get them something, and if so, what?

You should probly get something for everything is his family (except maybe the dog lol). These presents can be "just in casers" like just in case his mom or other family members gets you something you have those back up presents to give to them. If they dont get you anything then juss casually give them something. Dont make them feel bad if they dont get you anyting. These presents can score you a bunch of brownie points with his family which is always a MAJOR plus! Happy Holidays!

I dont really know what to tell you to get them but, yea you should deffinatley get tehm something. You love your boyfriend but you also have to take into account his family as well. You seem to care alot for them so what could it hurt to show them as well as your bf how much you do care about them all.

Merry Holidays,

well give them something that they will all enjoy like a video cam or a christmas cd or even a enjoyable movie so you won't have to worry about who didn't get something.don't depend on his family gifts.

I would definitely get them something! Get his dad, like, golf stuff, his mom, maybe some nice jewelry or some flowers, his brothers, wow, I don't know, um, maybe some cologne or something! Sorry. His sister, you could get her some candy or chocolates or a cute stuffed animal. And get his dog a cute little squeaky toy! Lol. As for your bf, um, maybe some cologne, a mix CD of his favorite songs (you could find out what they are from his family), or a pic of the 2 of you! Good luck!
Hope I helped!

You could get them a present that will be for his whole family (so u dont have to buy 6 different presents) Like a big box of chocolates, popcorn, cookies, etc. But I would definately get them SOMETHING just incase they get YOU something, you don't want to look bad.

I'd get a single item that the whole family can enjoy. Right now you may not want to get too personal, and the family is large. Try putting together a gift basket with little things in it each person would like. Little dollar store items that remind you of each person and even the dog. And a video store gift card that they can ALL use, Almost like a stocking. They can have the fun of bickering over who gets what. And the gift card ensures that the gift isn't too cheap. It will show you took time and caring into the gift.

I think you should get them something. Just think about all of their personalities and what you think they'd appreciate most. For instance...Does his younger brother play any sports or have any hobbies? You could get something related to that. And does his sister really like shopping or music or a sport/hobby? You could get her a gift certificate or CD(The brother might like a CD too, actually. You could ask them which ones they want.). For the parents, Bath and Body Works stuff is great for moms, and something sport/hobby related is great for dads. And for the dog...Wally World (Wal*Mart) has these cute little Santa sleigh-shaped bones with dog toys in it. Good luck & Merry Christmas!:P

this might sound kinda corny, and idk if you like to cook, but if you do and you would be ok with it then invite them over for a christmas dinner. dinner is always a really nice gesture. if not, or as an addition to dinner if you wanted, then get them a gift certificate to like sears or foleys or some major store like that and put on the card that its to the whole family, that way you can save money, time, and alot of looking around for something, and no feeling will get hurt!
hope i helped!

Since there's 4 people and one pet it may be semi-expensive but since you love them to death i think maybe you could get a family gift they could all use and a special boquet of flowers for his moms. Moms love that kinda stuff.
