Hey Im getting braces in a week.. i was wondering if there was anything i should do to prevent the pain.. or to get rid of the pain.. or could somebody jsut tell me how much pain there even really is? cuz i get different answers from like everyone i ask.. i just wanna be prepared. I know i should take advil before getting them put on, and i should bring chapstick with me.. any more advice? Oh and btw.. what color should i get lol i was thinking pink cuz i thought it might be cute? or would pink be too babyish for a 15 yr old? thanks ill rate!!

Ok i just got my braces, lol so i think this will be very helpful! well when you get your braces its not painfull at all .. well @ least for me it wasnt. They just aply a little pressure and thats all. but the next morning .. thought out that week will be pain. You need to make sure your not biting into anything hard because your teeth are going 2 be sore. Oh, and no that color wont look to babyish on you. I bet it will look fine!

hey i have already had braces and im not gonna lie they really suck!! u don't really need ne thing but then again it wuz prolly jus me that didn't use nuthin and it wusn't that bad gettin them on. not bad at all. but jus make sure when they have been on...like the next day or week etc... drink lotsa water and have lots of soft food ready and u'll be fine i guarantee it!!! good luck with that!

All right, I had braces for like 3 years, so I've got this one, haha. Nah, it really doesn't hurt much at first. I won't say it's great, and it may be a little uncomfortable, but it isn't near as excruciating as everyone makes it out to be (*cough* wimps). It will probably hurt more the days after you get them on than it will when you first get them on. Sure, take advil...I didn't, but whatever makes ya happy...lol. As far as colors, sure, pink will work. I mean, that's just personal preference. I'm 15, and I don't think it's babyish...Good luck with that.

okay .. well i have braces and i'm 14 i'll be 15 in january .. and i got them on when i was 13 .. well i didn't kno how painful it was gonna be .. they tell u not to eat b4 u go .. but u should b.c ur front teeth will hurt the most and u can barely bite into things - eat soft foods .. and at lunch in school will be hard .. french fries were hard for me but like you should b ok .. stickk to potatoes corn pudding yogurt .. stuff like that .. for some reason myn hurt for longer then most people .. like 4weeks .. but most people the pain lasts a week er two .. or less - as for the color i always get hot pink .. it makes ur teeth look evn whiter and it's not babyish at all - good luck =)

well when ii qot braces it did hurt somewhat but not really that bad . yuu can just take pain releif madincine or somethinq like that . it really helped me ! otherwise yuu can use some other kind of medicine and it really helps to eat no hard food for a while and just keep it down to like puddinq and that kind of stuff . and chapstick would probably be a qood idea because yuu will probably be lickinq your lips a lot because yuu wont be used to it . and pink is totally cute ! ii would recommend it and maybe even pink and black toqether because those are like the best colors riqht now . qood luck !

Braces ache more than plain hurt. It goes away after your teeth start moving, but until then it's really annoying and sometimes you arre just so tired of hurting you cry. It's not that the pain is unbearable or even terribly bad, it just stays the same until you can't stand it after awhile. There is this this great stuff called Perpogiesic. You can ask your pharmacy for it. It's over the counter, but easier to say to someone else than hunt on the shelf. This stuff is the bomb for braces pain. Advil and Tylenol just don't cut it. Also get some dental wax from your ortho. You can't chew gum, but chewing on the wax eases the soreness. Luck!

Dont worry dont Worry! I just got my off and it they never hurt that bad! They will hurt every once in a while tho! you will get use to them pretty fast! One thing that does hurt is when a wire pops..u wont no till it starts cuting the inside of ur mouth but that donst happen much at all. Good luck! love ya ! *sara*

I have braces to! they are not fun. but expect the worst and it wont be as bad. bring lip gloss and advile is a realy good idea. for the week you have your braces you will probably be able to eath only soup or apple sauce. Pink is a good color. and it is not babyish at all. you should not get yellow or white they make you teeth look yellow! also maybe ask your friends after lunch if you have anything in your braces, untill you get the hang of it! Also brush your teeth well and wear your ruberbands when the doctor tell you to, you will get the off so much faster. hope i helped write in my advice column you have any more questions!

You should really talk to your dentist/orthodontist about what you can take for the pain, as there is always a potential danger if you mix painkillers of your own with drugs administered by the dentist, such as anasthetics. I'm sure your dentist will say you can take standard painkillers such as paracetomol or ibouprofen, but it's always best to discuss these things with the expert - in this case, the person fitting your braces. As for colours, I think pink would be cute, and it's quite in at the moment, but just go for whatever your most comfortable with and best reflects your personality. :)

get really big braces and make the color white. the big ones will hurt more but the white will help your dentist locate the plack.

your in luck!! lol, i have braces right now. sometimes b4 you get braces you get spacers. they really hurt but once you get your braces the first day, it doesn`t hurt as much. but no matter what its always going to hurt when you get them tightend. I just got my braces tightend 2 days ago and they hurt, but not that bad. they are only going to hurt for like 5 days. its not that bad. what you can do to get rid of the pain is take something for it. i know ppl have been telling u that but it really helps. For the color, you can get any color you want. pink is a really cool color. it wont look babyish, it will look cute. and you can get other colors, you can get 2-3 colors at a time. you can get like red and green 4 x-mas.

Sweetie, it doesn't hurt when you get your braces on and I'm 15 and I get my braces off in a week but I usually always have hot pink, you can pick whatever color you want, nothing is too babyish and to be honest most people don't even notice the colors. All you need to do is bring the chapstick because every time I go my lips get really chapped and you might have a little like pain, not much, but maybe over like 3 days, your mouth will be a little sore. Just take any kind of pain medication, because it gave me head aches. Hope I've helped and good luck with that. Braces suck! Haha. -Kayla

hey ok i got my braces on when i was 12!! and ive had em for bout 2-3 years well what i did was i brought VASELINE sry for spelling and i took advil, tylenol, anything i cud get my hands on!! and for colors try alternating.... like pink and lime green those are very cute are pink and baby blue!! hope i helped!
