Ok so I am 13 years old and I want to start babysitting. I'm not sure if there are laws on how old you have to be (I live in England.) Is 13 old enough? How would I go about it?
HaPPyTOheLp answered Tuesday December 21 2004, 2:21 pm: I think 13 is an okay age. I dont know the babysitting age limit seeing as i dont live in england. So, you can either start babysitting, or try to find out the limit first. You decide.
XSugarPieX77 answered Friday December 10 2004, 6:25 pm: I'm thirteen and I'm a mothers helper. Theres deffinitly not a law! Just make a bunch of flyres and put them in like younger kid schools and shopping places.

blondebombshell33 answered Monday October 11 2004, 6:50 pm: hEy! well.... theres definately no laws on babysitting ages... it just whenever u and the parents think u r mature/responsible enough to handle children. i just moved 2 a new neighborhood in june and i babysat like crazy in my old neighboorhood and i wanted 2 get the word out that i babysat so i put flyers around in my neighbor's mailboxes telling them i was an experienced 16 year old who was great with kids, flexible hours etc.... so i would try 4 that! i got a full time babysitting job from the flyers and this summer made over $2,500 bucks in babysitting (not including my other lifegurading job!) sO go 4 it! also in my community... they offer babysitting classes that i took and they were short 1 hour classes for 5 nights and parents really appreciated that i took those and made them trust me!! but i dont know.. cuz i live in the u.s. bUt.. i HoPe i HeLpEd yA ouT! gOOd lUck!

BlOnDiEsTeFaNiE1 answered Monday October 11 2004, 3:03 pm: Well actually as i know of, there is no law that says you have be a certain age to babysit. But it depends on the parents of the kid you want to babysit because they may want someone older to babysit the child. But yea it all depends on the parents.

~*Annie*~ answered Monday October 11 2004, 12:54 pm: Yes, 13 is old enough. I started babysitting when I was 12! Tell your mum that you feel responsible enough to start babysitting. Print out colorful memos and tape them up to streetlamps, bulletin boards, and you can put them underneath cars' window-wipers. On the memo, include your picture (optional), how old you are, and how much you request per hour (If your charges are flexible, mention that, or put something like, "My charges per hour are flexible, but please, nothing under 40 pence" or something like that). Hope I helped :) good luck, hunny [ ~*Annie*~'s advice column | Ask ~*Annie*~ A Question ]

sevenstarcrash answered Monday October 11 2004, 11:56 am: I live in the US, and I believe 13 is old enough in both countries (i don't think there really is a "legal age") - you may want to look online for local babysitting courses, and those usually say how old you have to be. And if you take a course you get a card saying you're certified and it's easier to get people to have you babysit because they'll feel more comfortable knowing you took a class.
FrEe2bMe answered Monday October 11 2004, 11:56 am: Hmm, well I don't live in England but I'm like 99% sure it's the same as it is in the US.
There's no law saying how old you have to babysit. I started when I was 12. You can start babysitting whenever you, your family, and the people you are babysitting for think you are old and mature enough. If you want to start babysitting you could put a small add in the paper, make flyers and post them, put some up on the bullieten boards at school, make business cards and hand them out, or here in the US some neighborhoods have magazines that you can post your info in. Also, we have a class you can take to become Red Cross Certified that trains you how to do CPR and what to do in trying sitiations. If you have anything like that, take that class. Good luck! :) [ FrEe2bMe's advice column | Ask FrEe2bMe A Question ]
