russianspy1234 answered Wednesday August 25 2004, 2:33 am: well since im not catholic ill tell you that it isnt a sin, however most catholics will tell you that it is. you really shouldnt blindly accept your religion, make it your own. you can believe that a woman will have the right to choose, it is the actual abortion thats the sin. talk to you religious leader about it. EmbracedxRain answered Wednesday August 25 2004, 12:50 am: I doubt you'll go to hell for believing that. I believe women have the right to choose also, but I would never do it myself. Thats being pro-choice. It doesn't mean you agree with abortion, just that people have the right to choose. And considering being a christian means you are a follower of christ or whatever, just for that you'll prolly go to heaven. So don't worry about it. And don't let other peoples opinions make you think you are wrong. Its ok to be Pro-choice. Cause it doesn't necessarily mean you are "anti-life" or whatever. Hope it helps *amber* [ EmbracedxRain's advice column | Ask EmbracedxRain A Question ]
mylordwon answered Tuesday August 24 2004, 11:30 pm: Christianity means "follower of Christ". You say you are catholic, but are you a follower of Christ? If you are, you will be in heaven some day. If you are not, you won't. Hell will be the place for those who do not accept God's free gift of Grace through Jesus Christ. Salvation does not come from baptism. Baptism is an outward sign of an inward faith and that's all. Confirmation is an outward confession of an inward belief and that's all that is. If you are baptized and confirmed without inward faith in Jesus, those outward things mean absolutely nothing.
Having said all of that, let's address the abortion issue. Since you put this in the Spiritual catagory, I am going to answer this according to the Bible.
Psalm 139:13 says "For you created my inmost being: you knit me together in my mother's womb."
A baby is a baby from conception. A women's right to choose came before sex.
Proverbs 31:8 says "Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute." I can't think of more down and out soul that needs the help of those who can speak up than a baby that is facing death by abortion.
The Bible says in Deut. 5:17 "You shall not murder." Therefore murder by abortion is a sin.
SNAKE answered Tuesday August 24 2004, 10:33 pm: i dont no if youll go 2 hell but i do no this. wen a girl has an abortion, they r dhoosing 2 take away a life b4 it has even strted. they r taking away th uture and hopes and freams of a child b4 it even has a chance 2 take its first breath. 2 me that is a sin worse than murder. but no this:"it is not our abilities that show who we truly r, it is our choices" choose wisley ; ) [ SNAKE's advice column | Ask SNAKE A Question ]

Sherry answered Tuesday August 24 2004, 10:09 pm: You are NOT going to hell. I'm Christian and the only way you go to hell is if you dont believe that Jesus died for your sins!! Cathloics that say you are going to hell, its just a bunch of crap so they can just change your mind about what you think about abortion.. [ Sherry's advice column | Ask Sherry A Question ]
S_C answered Tuesday August 24 2004, 9:47 pm: well, I'm a catholic and I'm against abortion, but thats not the point.
In a way, it's a sin for our religion, but really you have the right to believe what you want. The only sin that will make you go to Hell is by saying bad things about our Lord, and Jesus Christ, or by not believing.
As long as you ask God's understanding on your opinion, you as the rest of us faithful Catholics, will go to Heaven. Hope I helped, need anything about our faith, or christianity (since I'm both) feel free to ask!! [ S_C's advice column | Ask S_C A Question ]
Laura answered Tuesday August 24 2004, 9:46 pm: Well, I'm Christian (Baptist to be exact). According to the Bible, abortion is murder. Murder is a sin. So technically, yes, it's a sin. But if you have Jesus Christ in your heart, which, sorry if I insult you, I know nothing about being Catholic, then no, you will not go to hell. If you believe Jesus is God's son and that he died for you, then no, you won't. Remember, all sins are forgiven.
Beccah answered Tuesday August 24 2004, 9:45 pm: No, you can beleive whatever you want. It isnt really a sin and you will definitely not go to hell because i believe in abortion too. what if a 12 year old got raped? would they want the baby? not really... it should only be legal for certain reasons not just because you dont want a baby... so yea hope it helped! mustangman answered Tuesday August 24 2004, 9:33 pm: well i disagree with you choice but the only way you go to hell is if you do not belive in jesus christ as your lord and savior. im not exactly sure if its a sin or not thats for god to decide but do not worry about it because if its what you truely feel it shouldnt be a sin as long as it doesnt bring you away from jesus. well i hope i helped and ill see you in heaven one day! MFS answered Tuesday August 24 2004, 9:24 pm: This does not mean you're going to hell.
Not all Catholics believe every last little bit of doctrine.
In fact, what many forget is this little thing called "Primacy of Conscious" - it basically says that if the Church says one thing and you really believe they are wrong, then go with your heart.
Yes, it creates a grey area that many don't like to address, but you're not alone.
I, for one, am Catholic. Personally, I would not choose abortion, and the point is moot for me (hell, I have 2 kids)... but I also don't think it fair to remove the ability of someone else to make their own decision. I will not stand here and say, "NO YOU CANNOT HAVE AN ABROTION! YAAARRR!!!" because that's just stupid. It is not my choice. It is not my life, and not my decision to live with. I will not choose for someone.
You're not alone. It is not a sin - and even if it were, that's what the whole basis of our religion is - forgiveness. So really, don't let it worry you.
