my mom recently found out that i have been cutting myself and she backed off,didnt talk to me, and didnt know how to handle the situation. now when she sees band-aids or a bracelet or sweatband on my wrist she automatically says have you been cutting again? i dont know what to say so i usually say no or leave me alone but she replys by saying why do you do it? i dont know how to get her to just leave me alone. what should i do? please try n' help. thanks!

Well, I think that the town of you should sit down and just talk and get everything out. Then you will both be able to express your feelings. And I can't say that being "left alone" is the best thing b/c I mean c'mon then you are just allowing your thoughts to take over. Maybe you should try a counceler. *Alina

After putting chap stick,lotion,etc on my lips, my lips are really soft, but when I add lip gloss over it my lips tend to peel. I use Clinique and MAC lip gloss some of those most expensive lip glosses n it still makes my lips peel. Is there anything I can do to not make them peel? Its driving me insane! This is the ONLY thing I cannot figure out!

Well maybe you shoudl just stick to chapstick for awhile and make sure that they get perfectly healed and than apply a small amoutn of lip gloss. and remember it isn't always about how expensive it is, its about the quality. hope i helped you out *Alina

How can i become a more confident person?

well i have been working on that a lot lately. the best thing to do is to smile! and if soemone says something that you don't like or don't agree with...just state your opinion. Just relize that in the end your friends and family are still gonna love you! plus maybe tyr wearing clothes that make you feel comfortable. Just be yourslef that is the best thing...*Alina

i've known him like forever, hes my bestfriend since we ran in diapers. recently ive noticed that whenever hes around me, my heart just pounds like crazy. i dont know why i feel that way.. i fear that i might be falling for him! if i do, what if he doesnt accept my love? i dont want our friendship to end if our relationship doesnt work out.. please help

omygosh hun!!!! life is all abou taking risks...but this is a really big risk. Now the thing about dating your freinds is that after your friendship will always be a little wierd. But the relationship you have while you are dating is amazing! and don't worry about him not excepting your love...b/c if he doesn't like you just realize that...you have a GREAT guy friend and that is way better than a boyfreind in the end anyway. So w/e you decide it will work out. But most of all i think that you should follow your heart hun...b/c your heart always tells you what you really want! and i think you want HIM!

Hey ok the new school year starts this monday and im scared bout making new friends cuz last year i told people i was christian (im not afraid 2 share my faith) so they all thought i was weird and stuff...and i dont cuss so instead of saying a bad word id say like crap or freak or whatever and they'd make fun of me..i still want ppl to know im christian this year but im scared i wont have friends! i know what i did wrong last year id tell people that Jesus loves them jokingly and they got scared so yea not gonna do that but even if i tell them that im a christian they might reject me..so what do i do?

You know what?!?! being a christian is the most aweosme thing ever!!! and it is aweosme that you are not scared to share your faith. And don't be scared about making friends. There are always other people that are out there...that are Christians as well...and myabe are just scared to share their faith. But maybe you should tone down the spreading of your religion. B/c nobody wants anything pushed on them. And although it may not seem like that is what you are doing...that's the way it may feel for them. And don't worry about rejection. Well since I have had a friend commit suicide i know that it is difficult and you are looking for answers. But she is not coming back, or at least that is the way i belive. You have to trust that God forgave her and he let her come into heaven. You have to believe that our God is a forgiving God. I don't know if this is what you wanted to hear....

This really isn't something that you need to be nervous about. You should be comfortable when you have your period. And your period shouldn't make you have to put your life and all of it's activities on hold. Your Mom should want you to be comfortable also...so just tell her that you would like to try tampons. * Alina *

hey lol that is funny i was just reading that bible verse the other day....But there are plenty of reasons why we should fear the lord...

The lord has power over are whole being...i mean he controls when we are born and when we die....i would be scared of someone who controlled all that.

And you know it doesn't mean fear...like scared of spiders fear...it just means that you need to know that he has greater power of you. And that you should be scared..or more stand in awe of the things that he can do!!!

Why does everyone hate emo so much? I'm not complaining, I'm just curious. I personally like emo bands, certain bands, not all. And if you are going to respond to this question, don't just say "Cuz its stupid" I want an honest response, and on honest opinion. Your response is greatly appreciated.

I know a lot of people who really love emo! I am one of them!!! i think it kicks-ass personally...but the people that don't like it, probably just don;t like that type of music...or at least that is what my friends say. i mean i really don't like rap either...so it's just like you not liking osme kinds of music...they don't like emo!

Help! I think im loosing my best friend. it seems like all she cares about is her boyfriend. when i invite her somewhere she says oh sry im doing something with my boyfriend. and when shes not with him thats all she talks about. when i invite her over to my house all she dose is talk on the phone with him! how rude! even my bf thinks shes needs to cool it. what should i do and say to her?

This is not a fun position to be in, turst me i know....BUT boys come and go. So eventually they will break up and she will come back to you. It's at this point that you have to talk to her and tell her how you feel.

I got my first period over a year ago, July 2003. I have gotten 4-6 periods when i should have had 12. i go long periods of time without getting a period. Like I got one in December and my next one was in March. I have one like every 3-4 months and what really sux about it is that when i actually do get them its not the same day of the month. My first one was on the 1st but i've gotten them anytime of the month. Im really skinny and some ppl say if u dont have alot of body fat it messes up ur periods.. is that true?

It's not odd that your period is irregular..b/c you didn't start that long ago. You should be about 100 pounds when you start, so if you are less than that then it may mess up your cycle. If it continues to do that....maybe ask your docter next time!

I don't know my best guy friend still hasn't come around, i've given him time, and all that he's asked for, but i'm hearing alot from his friends that the girl he fell for, broke his heart the same way she did from the beginning, i want to him him because iknow how to, but i can't, he just said the other day that he hated me.. I mean i know that's bad and all but hey what can i do? nothing. i just dont know what to do im so lost, and then..me and my best (guy) friend kissed I didnt feel anything.. special, it was just like kissing a best friend i dont know.. is that a bad thing??

Well first off i say that you...try talking too him again. Just tell him that you understand what you did was wrong. And tell him that you really are sorry. Nobody can hate anyone else, i doubt that you did something that could REALLY make him hate you.

Also is it possible that maybe this guy stays awasy from you b/c he thinks that there will be more than a friendship? I suggest that you jsut tell him that you are going to try and be the most supportive friend as possible.

If kissing were a bad thing, than i am in BIG trouble!!!!

ok. i dont smoke. But alot of people in my grade do. im only going into 8th grade and i turn 14 in january! alot of people that i know have at least tried smoking. recently i have been having these dreams that i smoked and i liked it..then i'd wake up. is this bad? should i have already tried it. i think want to. thx for any advice!

No you definetly should not have tried it! you are way too young and it's not cool anyway.
Don't even worry about it, more people haven't tried it than have. B/c the people that don't smoke, don't brag about how they DON'T smoke. But people who do smoke brag about it.

latley i have been doing a lot of different things to my hair, ive spiked it and been using colored gel, but im always getting looks from people, i dont know if they are good or bad, i love my hair being this way but i dono if i feel comfortable with everyone lookin at me, wut should i do, i have red and blue colored hair and ive been gettin mroe and more creative latley. what should i do?

You need to learn not to care waht other people think. I mean really they don't have to walk around with your hair if they don't want to. if you are comfortable with you and who you are than that is all that matters!

I use to be exteremly shy too...but the key is to be able to laugh at yourself. If you make a mistake or say something wrong, than just laugh it off like evryone else.

Plus how are you going to know that you will make a fool of your self if you don't actually try.

Nope, once you have had your period than you are not pregnant. But next time use protection. I think that you should go to the docter to make sure you don't have any sexually transmitted diseases!
