i started my period a few months ago...and my mom gave me pads....i want tampons soo i can go swimming etc....soo i decided to ask her...i cant get the guts up to ask her...how should i ask her?

if your afraid to ask her outloud, maybe you can ask her by writing her a note. Or if your at the grocery store, be like " can I get some of those? " and point at some. *lol*

Just ask her if the next time she goes to the store she could get you some tampons. Or if you have a grocery list, put them on it. It's no big deal =)

i kno what you mean about being embarassed - maybe you can go to the food store with her next time you go shopping and if you pass that aisle be like oh! i just remembered i wanted to buy tampons so i could go swimming!...or if you know a friend who has a pool and you're gonna go over there, tell your mom that you are just goin to hang out but don't plan on swimming and she'll be all like why? lol

Just tell your mom that you would rather have tampons so you can go swimming! i'm sure she would understand cuz she goes threw the same thing or ask her when shes in a good mood.

Everyone says, just ask her! They are right. But it really depends on how close you are with your mom. I asked my sister to help me. If you are close just ask her. Or you can buy them yourself. If you a store close by just go into the asile where they are. I would recommend Tampax Pearl Regular. To be honest I have used tampons ever since I started. I have never used a pd. What I think you should do is when your next period comes, ask your mom where the tampons are. If she says there aren't any, just ask if you can go to the store and buy some. OR, if she says she has some you can use, go find them, and if you don't like them, ask if you can buy some for yourself.

Maybe it's because I've had my period for years and I'm comfortabe saying I have it to anyone that calls me a bitch :) Why be scared? She's your mother. She has it too. Walk right up to her like it's no big deal (cuz it isn't) and ask..."Hey Mom! I heard tampons are easier...can you get me some?" It's as simple as that. Promise. And your mother won't even give it a second thought. Oh and there is directions in each tampon box to show you how to use them. ;)

This really isn't something that you need to be nervous about. You should be comfortable when you have your period. And your period shouldn't make you have to put your life and all of it's activities on hold. Your Mom should want you to be comfortable also...so just tell her that you would like to try tampons. * Alina *

Ha! I've had this problem before.. My mom said no though.. hehe.. anyway.. What I did was just go up to her while she was sitting down watching TV, and simply said, "Mom, can I use tampons?" and she said no. yeah, nice strategy, but, it was the most direct and I got the answer I needed. If you don't want to do this, then you can play stupid with her and the next time u see a box of tampons at the store, u can ask if they work and the conversation could carry on to asking if you can have them from there.. I hope u can! It's so much more convenient..

ok i was just like you. i was nervous to ask my mom about tampons, but seriously, she was really cool about it. the thing about tampons is that they're hard to use if you're a virgin. it might not work out so well for you and that might be why she didn't offer it to you.
