Dried Lips

Question Posted Thursday August 26 2004, 2:05 am

After putting chap stick, lotion, etc on my lips, my lips are really soft, but when I add lip gloss over it my lips tend to peel. I use Clinique and MAC lip gloss some of those most expensive lip glosses n it still makes my lips peel. Is there anything I can do to not make them peel? Its driving me insane! This is the ONLY thing I cannot figure out!

you might be allergic to something in the lip glosses.all lip glosses dont work for everyone.I suggest that you stop using your currnet lip glosses for a bit and try some other kind of lip gloss, and see if its the lip gloss thats causing your lips to peel.hope I helped

use vaseline instead of lip gloss. It won't dry out your lips and it'll look the same. If you want it to smell and taste like lip gloss put some Vaseline in a clean, empty film case and put vaseline and a powder drink mix that you like and mix it in. Let it sit over night and you'll have flavored, slightly tinted lip gloss.

you could try a slick chap stick. it makes your lips shine like lip closs but it also keeps your lips from chapping like chapstick. I'm sorry I can't be more of a help.
luv n' luck

Well maybe you shoudl just stick to chapstick for awhile and make sure that they get perfectly healed and than apply a small amoutn of lip gloss. and remember it isn't always about how expensive it is, its about the quality. hope i helped you out *Alina

I use this chap stick "Softlips" its in a white tube and you can get it @ Target , Wal-Mart and probably liek Tops maybe. It's medicated and it kills the dead skin on your lips. The first time you use it only kinda burns but not really. It helps alot.Try putting it on lik e10min. before you put on your lipgloss.hope i helped.

Ask_Anything answered Thursday August 26 2004, 2:30 am:
im not positive why your lips peel, but you may be allergic to something in the lip glosses? or you have too much product on your lips and it might be irritating the skin? try not putting so much on and stay away from the lip gloss for a while and see if your lips still peel. if nothing helps- go see your doctor! good luck! =] -ask_anything

Try not putting ALL that on your lips and just chapstick. And why do you buy expensive lip gloss anyway, especially if they make your lips peel? Try going to Wal-Mart or K-Mart or something like that.

Hmm .. I use MAC + Clinique all the time, + I've never had a problem with them drying out my lips, so I'm not sure =/.

Get a really moisturizing // healing lip balm, and let it soak in for around 1O minutes before you put your gloss on -- if it helps, do that twice, and then use your lipgloss. I don't know what else you can do .. sorry I couldn't help more!

Try putting the chapstick on over the lip gloss. There are also some lip glosses that have moisturizer in them.
