I'm feeling a little emo...
Why does everyone hate emo so much? I'm not complaining, I'm just curious. I personally like emo bands, certain bands, not all. And if you are going to respond to this question, don't just say "Cuz its stupid" I want an honest response, and on honest opinion. Your response is greatly appreciated.

i think emo is possibly one of the greatest types of music. thats all i listen to pretty much. i think people dont like it because they're like "oh my god theyre so depressed and all they sing about is cutting and killing and wanting to die." but if you really listen to the lyrics.. *i know this is corny* but you really understand the band. emo is good music.. dont listen to what people say.

I don't know, it's their opinion. People just have different tastes in music. But in MY opinion, emo's cool.

to me, emo is a style I can understand, which very seldom happens with me and newer music. I probably wouldn't listen to emo if given the option for something else, but if it's on I won't complain. I think the reason why people hate the emo-style of music is that it's new and different and history shows that young kids who like new and different things tend to be scoffed at because the older generation is afraid of it. Look at the protest songs of the 60s or disco. It's the same.

Well, I guess everyone has a different opinion on what "emo" music is. I think emo music is just anything with emotional lyrics. Something that affects you. Some just narrow it down to particular bands. I think people that do that; think it's whiny bullshit music. But yeah, that was a good question to ask.

I don't really mind emo. That said, I don't really like it either. It's really hard for me to listen to people spending whole albums whining (and their voices do tend to sound like whining) about how they lost their girlfriends, or their dogs, plane ticktes, SOMETHING. I mean really, you'd think they fell in love with everyone and everything because every song sounds the same to me- all heartbroken and slightly pathetic. I guess I'm just easily bored but I rather like variety in my music instead.

I think people hate it because the singers are sitting there singing about how much they hurt on the inside and such, when they have millions of dollars. I don't know if that's true though, I just heard someone on the radio say that. I personally like emo.

I know a lot of people who really love emo! I am one of them!!! i think it kicks-ass personally...but the people that don't like it, probably just don;t like that type of music...or at least that is what my friends say. i mean i really don't like rap either...so it's just like you not liking osme kinds of music...they don't like emo!

well from where i'm from, theres alot of "emo" people, if you'd like to classify them as that... i like emo/hardcore music, but that doesnt make me a depressed person... its a personal preference... everyone has a different scene, so..

The genre just has no appeal to me. I find much of it to be whiney, and the music rambling and sometimes pointless. It does not match up to what I like to hear in music, or lyrical content. It just disagrees with what I like.

Most people dont like them because emo kids are always being depressive and stuff... Emo is just like where you are still upset over like breakups and stuff that happened awhile ago, most emo kids thing about suicide a lot.. but most people see emo differently... to some people its about the way you dress or the music and the feelings but its mostly about the music and feelings... I don't have a problem with them, some of my friends are emo, and sometimes i feel emo'ish lol
