LiLBoYCrAzYBaBe09 answered Tuesday August 24 2004, 7:57 pm: If you get your belly button pierced, you have the risk of getting migration or rejection. In case you dont know, rejection is when your body pushes the ring to the surface of your skin. Migration is when your ring actually moves up. Thats the only risks I know of. You should be at lwast 16 if you want to get it pierced. If your parents say no, just wait til your 18. The younger you get it, the more risk you have of having migration or rejection. SleepingBeauty answered Tuesday August 24 2004, 1:48 pm: It hurts less than getting your tounge done. There's less muscle where you get your belly button pierced. The only danger is that it might get infected. But you can avoid that by cleaning it twice a day with alcohol and the stuff they give you when you get it done. But just to warn you, your parent/guardian will have to sign for you to get it done if you're under 18. And make sure when you go to get it done you see them take the instrument out of the wrapper. You need to make sure it's sterile and clean. And after you get it done you'll have to wear pants that don't hit your belly button or the ring so you don't irritate it and cause yourself pain. Ronlina answered Tuesday August 24 2004, 2:32 am: Getting any piercing comes with risks. If it becomes infected due to irritation or lack of proper care, you could get very sick and have to go to a doctor.
I know that in many states in the US, you must be 18 to get anything done, even your ears, unless you have a parent go with you and sign for the permission.
If you click on the links you find there in front of you, you will se some of the major risks involving a naval (otherwise known as belly button) piercing.
I am all for body piercing, but only if it is done in a proper, safe, and clean envioronment.
You know what? go to [Link](Mouse over link to see full location) as well. Look around a bit. Find a caresheet on bellybutton piercings and see if you're willing to take care of it. What a piercing is, is a wound. A wound must be cared for exactly as directed, or it won't heal.
Most importantly, do this because you want to, and not because a friend has it or it is popular. This should be a personal experience and should be about you, not anyone else. This is your body.
That said, if you want it that badly and your parent doesn't agree with it, then you should be able to wait until you're a proper age. This is because most piercing shops that don't require a parent are cheap, and often are dirtier than other more professional shops.

I'm not sure on the age factor.I know if you are under 18,you need a parent signature to get it done. But I'm not sure if there's an age that they consider too young!! blackmamba answered Tuesday August 24 2004, 12:28 am: no its not dangerous. ive had mine for 2 years. the only risk is if it gets infected before it heals, or it could get ripped out. you have to be 18 unless you have a parent present in most states. SeXyBLuEyEzGuRL answered Tuesday August 24 2004, 12:06 am: the only way bellybutton piercing can be dangerouse is if you get an infection from it. and even if you get an infection from it that doesnt mean it's going to be bad enough where you gotta take the ring out n ur bellybutton is going to fall off. you have to be 18 to get it done by yourself, but if a parent goes with you then i suggest you don't get it done till you are 14. XxSXyKaYlYnXx answered Monday August 23 2004, 11:16 pm: Well anything has risks. I have my done i got it done @ 14. As long as you take care of it and clean it everyday there should be no problem. It will be sore for a while and red but that will go away eventually. They usually take a year or more to heal all the way but a couple months to pretty much heal. It doesn't hurt buti guess it depends on how much you can take pain. In the end its worth iT! [ XxSXyKaYlYnXx's advice column | Ask XxSXyKaYlYnXx A Question ]
Ditziness4life answered Monday August 23 2004, 11:10 pm: No.. it is not dangerous. The worst that can happen is an infection, but it can be treated. There really is not an age that you can get it done you just need your parents permission. Have fun.. [ Ditziness4life's advice column | Ask Ditziness4life A Question ]
Karen answered Monday August 23 2004, 11:00 pm: Nope, it isn't dangerous because the piercers clean all the tools but you could get an infection after you get your belly button pierced but I doubt that. I pierced my belly button by myself and I didn't get an infection. Also, you can get your belly button pierced at any age but you need a parent/guardian with you if you are under 18. I was 12 when I pierced mine! I hope I helped and if you have any other questions, feel free to drop them in my inbox and I'll be glad to answer them :) [ Karen's advice column | Ask Karen A Question ]
XxStereOchilDxX answered Monday August 23 2004, 10:59 pm: Getting your bellybutton pierced doesn't seem to dangerous especially if you have a professional do it. There is a vein close to where you pierce it but the professionals kno that they're doing. About 5 of my closest friends have it done and the worst thing that happened was that it got infected but it healed a lil while after that. I got my nose pierced which hurts alot more but its doing fine.My friends where 15 and 14 who got it done..as long as a parent consaults it then you can get it done. I think you will be fine if you get your belly button pierced. [ XxStereOchilDxX's advice column | Ask XxStereOchilDxX A Question ]
MFS answered Monday August 23 2004, 10:56 pm: It has the highest risk of infection and injury of all the common piercings. At least where I live, you cannot get such a piercing under the age of 18 without explicit parental consent (aka, they come with you). [ MFS's advice column | Ask MFS A Question ]
