The year I decided to try out for volleyball. Before the tryouts, we had 3 days of practice to get us ready. The 3 practice days are over, and they were pretty rigorous. After every practice, my wrists and legs would hurt for hours. It hurts to walk. Before practice, we run a few laps around the track and run up stairs to warm up. Tryouts are on Tuesday. Is there anything I can do to stop the pain from coming after practice? Or is it just because I'm not used to working out this hard and I'll get used to it after a while?
LiLBoYCrAzYBaBe09 answered Wednesday August 25 2004, 12:18 pm: Unfortunatly no. You're being active and not used to all the movement and things. I have done gymnastics for about 7 or 8 years and i still ache for about 3 days of practice. As long as you stretch good, and stay active, you shouldnt have as much pain. Or, at least learn to deal with it. lol. Hope I helped!! [ LiLBoYCrAzYBaBe09's advice column | Ask LiLBoYCrAzYBaBe09 A Question ]
xo_dream answered Wednesday August 25 2004, 1:09 am: Your body'll get used to it after a while -- for now just take some ibuprofin + stretch out, and that should help a bit. [ xo_dream's advice column | Ask xo_dream A Question ]

I no it sucks.. Your legs prolly hurt because of all the running.. If you want it to hurt less. take advil.. the liquid gels work really quick and make the pain less.. It will eventually stop hurting.. You'll get use to running and being hit with a ball.. Hope I helped.. If you need to no anything else about volleyball Hit me up..

Make sure you stretch really good before you exercise, and ice your injuries before and after practice. A hot bubble bath soothes and relaxes your muscles after a long day of practice. If the pain persists, see a doctor or a bone and joint physician.
Mercy_x_Me answered Thursday August 19 2004, 11:43 pm: Hmm have you been stretching before you start? See a doctor before things get serious and you REALLY cant play. Before practices take a warm bath to loosen up your muscles. You need to relax so that you really arent hurting yourself. If the season just started it may be that you just need to get used to it, but i wouldnt wing it without a doctors help. Im very independant and i realyl dont like seeing doctors but if i realize the importance, it makes me go. So just think of how if you let things get worse, it may mean no volleyball whatsoever. If you see the doctor, you'll be playing volleyball and comfortably. Good luck hun.. xoxo [ Mercy_x_Me's advice column | Ask Mercy_x_Me A Question ]
karlyndarlin05 answered Thursday August 19 2004, 6:00 pm: well if you normally dont do that amount of excerise, then it is mostly from doing nothing to the next day doing a lot. But the most important thing that will help the pain at least a little bit is stretching, for volleyabll stretch, arms legs, everything, ur neck, wrists ankles, knees. the same thing happened to me and stretching helped A LOT!!
~HOPE I HELPED!!~
ps some streches are:
(standing up)(for legs and ankles):
* straight legs touch your toes
*leg spread about shoulder width apart touch each foot for a count of at least 10 the switch to the other foot
*cross one leg over the other and touch ur toes, switch legs
*pull one ankle up and hold it, then other ankle
* go up on ur tip toes the come back down (repeat many times)
(laying down) (for other):
*bring both legs straight up so that they are 90 degrees to the floor, do at least 20 of those
* there are many other stretches you can do. the volleyball team that you are trying out for should prolly stretch before playing and practice, and u can learn new streches from them...hope i helped...again...lol [ karlyndarlin05's advice column | Ask karlyndarlin05 A Question ]
napalm3400 answered Thursday August 19 2004, 5:26 pm: Well normaly its because ur not used to working out so hard, but if it bothers u that much, i suggest that u do what i did after football conditioning. I turned the bath water on as hott as i can stand it, i mean it was hott, because after awhile ur body gets used to it, and that relaxes ur muscles and makes the pain go away, it feels soo good. then after that u can put icy hot on the spots that hurt, but be carefull not to get it on any private parts because ive dont that, and it hurts like a son of a gun. hope i helped. moltueffers00 answered Thursday August 19 2004, 3:38 pm: hey no worries, you only hurt because you aren't used to the workout. i know after i was injured for a couple of months and started playing soccer again, i got really sore. the best thing to do is to put ice on your wrist and a heating pad on your legs. hope i helped ya hun!

*tasha* answered Thursday August 19 2004, 3:34 pm: Hey!Its probaly because you are not used to working out that hard. Thats how i was when I first started playing all my sports at once (2 basketball teams, volleyball, and softball, and dance too) Put Ice on your sore spots. It helps if you sleep w/ ice on it and stuff. GOOD LUCK! I hope you make the team!!
xo_Meg_ox answered Thursday August 19 2004, 3:33 pm: don't worry, it'll get better! trust me, the hard work will pay off and you'll notice improvement...when i first went back to gymnastics after a year of being out, i like couldn't do nething for like 3 weeks while we were doing strength but then it became easier but u have to do the strength consistently...also, don't be nervous about tryouts cuz you'll probably have a rush of adrenaline to help you [ xo_Meg_ox's advice column | Ask xo_Meg_ox A Question ]
