No way, you can buy whatever you want. I've had contacts for about 3 years and usually stick to Alcon's Opti-Free solution, which has worked significantly better than other brands I have tried. You can find contact solution in any Walmart, CVS, Walgreens, etcetera.

When my doctor gave me my contact lenses, he gave me a tiny bottle of contact solution to go with it. My guess is that is his recommendation for me, since there are other brands to choose from, but he constantly gives me the same one.

So, in your case, I would definitely go by what the eye doctor tells you. He knows the solutions that goes perfect with your eye problems, such as itchiness and redness, so it is best to follow his directions.

I don't know if it's the same everywhere, but where I live contact solutions don't require prescriptions, so your doctor can't make you buy a particular one. They could (or the contact manufacturer could) sell contacts and solutions as a package deal, and leave you with little choice but to pick up the recommended solution along with your contacts purchase.

However, a doctor's recommendation should be taken very seriously. They know the type and brand of contacts you are using after all, and have looked your eyes. If you didn't get a recommendation and would like one, I'm sure you could call the office and ask their opinion. If you are having a problem with the solution that you were recommended, I'm sure your doctor would want to hear that information to help them in the future.

If you just want to keep on buying what you always buy despite a doctor's opinion, no one can stop you.

usually they will tell you what they think you should use but you yourself can get what ever brand/kind you want. Although im not sure but diffrent brands of contacts might require certain kinds of solution.

If u have a sensitive eye, then yes, ur doctor should tell u, if not, just make sure it's something water based and nothing off the internet o.0 I suggest opti-free express lens cleaning solution. It's for beginners and it works well for all :-)
Hope it works!

Your doctor is supposed to tell you your perscription if your getting contacts with perscription (which is glasses) or if your just getting color contacts your might have to talk to your doctor still because it depends on your eyesight if you might damage it.

I bet your eye doctor could suggest some, like to get the sensitive eye solution, but they're kind of all the same. RENU works great =)

It is your personal preferance. I buy the cheap stuff at Sam's Club.

Having your docotor tell you would be like your dentist telling you what toothpaste to use. :)
