Make sure you stretch good before you practice and keep working on getting more and more flexible. We never used a trampoline in cheer but we do in dance for our leaps and I know it really helps! Keep practicing! good luck

jeanine278972 answered Tuesday July 27 2004, 2:33 pm: I was a cheerleader 2 years ago and I had the same problem. The way I got better was practicing my jumps on the trampoline and by putting ankle weights on.
The ankle weights give resistance which builds your muscles up as u work on the jumps. This will make your verticle jump better making it easier to do your cheering jumps.
The trampoline just makes you in more control and helps build your muscles.

aCciDenTaLlYInLoVee answered Tuesday July 27 2004, 1:16 pm: well im a cheerleader and i used to have horrible jumps .. you have to stretch!! and once your middle split is decent then try doing "t-jumps" that will increase your height in the jump .. remember to keep you back straight and don't reach for your toes and bend over (bad move) .. a good pointer is to look at something in a far distance upwards and just stare at it and your jump should be higher .. if you have a trampoline you can practice there as well - and dont forget to point your toes! GOOD LUCK! xoxo
xo_Meg_ox answered Tuesday July 27 2004, 1:08 pm: leg and hip strength!!!, work on a trampoline, work with weights on your ankles, make sure you are jumping the correct way (off of your toes) and keeping your chest up, work on your flexibility in both splits and pikes, even stretch out your ankles ~ by doing hip strength (such as lying on your back in a straddle and bringing your legs together repeatedly) you will be able to do snap your legs together faster in order to finish the jump before you land, and of course leg strength will give you more power in general (lunges, calf raises, roll backs (start standing, roll back, and jump up -- repeat), etc.....) hope i helped!
