How long does it generally take to start seeing a difference when you're doing strength training and muscle building?
I know everyone is different but is there an approximate amount of time?

for the physical fitness test in gym, i need to do at least 20 push-ups but i dont have good upper body strength. any at home tricks that i need no equipment for that will help greatly? thanks in advance!

Tomorrow in gym, we will be doing the mile run/walk. I was just wondering if anyone could give me good advice on getting a good time, or not getting really tired, how not to get that pain in my side, and maybe how to breathe or something. Thanks!

When your laying down on your side and you raise one leg up and keep doing it over and over...what does that do to you? or does it do anything? and when you sit on a wall at a 90 degree position and do it for 30 seconds or something what does this do to you?

i need to learn how to do a cartwheel, and a backhandspring~ A)because i think it would be really fun to learn how to do it and B)- because its the requirements for cheerleading squad...i didnt make it this year but im trying out next year.. i dont really want to go to a gymanstics place so im trying to teach myself and i pritned out some instructions online but i really need some step by step instructions (remember:im a beginner an im really afriad of getting hurt) i REALLY appreciate your help!!!

Ok, this summer/fall I decided to start working out more because i really want a toned body. I'm skinny and healthy, but i know i could look so much better. Yes, i am a perfectionist. lol anyway s i have been doing situps everyday and some other ctretches and excersises and now i can feel my abs (my bigest goal-to have abs and eliminate the fat on my hips but on the back/love handles) and muscle on my sides and stuff but you cant actually see them. there is a layer of flab covering my new muscles that iw orked very hard to get and i really want to know what will get rid of this. I've heard that situps don't get rid of the flab so what does??? And i eat very heathily so i cant change my diet. Thanks so much! And i will rate all helpful suggestions! :D

Ok, first things first. I am NOT an exerciser, but I want to get more fit. I am 5 9, and I weigh 218 lbs. Yesterday I had my first "official" work out, which was stretching, 2 stair laps,some strenghtning exercises, 2 sprints, walking, jogging, more strecthing and dancing. It took about an hour and a half to do all of that (and it was precisely in that order). Was that starting out too big? Or should i tone it down a bit? Thanks! Sorry if it's in the wrong category.

Ok soo I really want to get some muscels and kinda loose weight around my thieghs... I wouldn't esactly call them to big maybe a little over normal... but I really need to be a bit stornger and get some muscels so I can be better at karate! Please help... Okay. I took a tape measure couple weeks ago, and found my waist at a whopping 30 inches. Mortified, I glanced at charts and saw that that meant I had a size 11. I went to Hollister a few days ago, and tried the size. It hung off me like elephant skin. I tried a size 3, and found that it fit perfectly. What is this?? I should have to have 3 inches off my waist for that size. I've always worn 3's and don't know why my tape gives a 30 in. waist every time. I have no hips (31 in.), but don't know what that would have to do with it. Any help?

My freshman Homecoming is next Friday, and I need to lose as much weight as possible by then because My dress looks pretty bad on me. What can I do to make everything smaller? I'm going with this guy that I really like, and I want to impress him.
