Question Posted Saturday September 29 2007, 11:51 pm
Ok, first things first. I am NOT an exerciser, but I want to get more fit. I am 5 9, and I weigh 218 lbs. Yesterday I had my first "official" work out, which was stretching, 2 stair laps, some strenghtning exercises, 2 sprints, walking, jogging, more strecthing and dancing. It took about an hour and a half to do all of that (and it was precisely in that order). Was that starting out too big? Or should i tone it down a bit? Thanks! Sorry if it's in the wrong category.

Like do 30 minutes every day for the first week. Thats the minimum amount of exercise time recommended.
Then the next week do 45 minutes a day. Then the next week do an hour a day. Or do an hour a day and then a half hour the next.
If you start out high you'll get stiff and sore fast =/ You CAN keep going like that...but if you aren't in shape you'll probably want to stop all together after a while because you'll be too tired or sore to keep going. [ spookykiwi's advice column | Ask spookykiwi A Question ]

That being said, you probably won't stick to something that lasts that long. Try just taking up an hour; cut something out. Also, make sure you enjoy your workout.
