Paranoia preventing sleep Posted Monday August 27 2012, 6:01 am
18/F
I can't sleep because I'm extremely paranoid. Every night before I go to bed, and I put off going to bed until five in the morning, I have to check my entire room for any spiders or bugs. I can't sleep in the dark because I'm terrified of what's on the floor or in the bed with me. I leave my computer monitor on, facing in the other direction. I check the big teddy bear I sleep with. I check the mattress and even the one above me (bunk bed). I can't sleep with my door closed because I'm afraid I won't have time to get out in case something happens. I can't sleep with it all the way open either because I don't want something coming in without my noticing.
I need a fan on when I sleep because if it's dead sil...

I read my friend's texts... now I think she may be a lesbian? Posted Sunday August 26 2012, 11:57 pm
20/f
Last night me and my friends were at my apartment drinking. My roommate had her ipod in her speakers and I went to go change the song. I saw that a text had popped up from a girl I didn't know that said "what would your friends think if they saw what I text you?" I know it was wrong, but I was drunk and I was curious who this girl was because my roommate is one of my best friends and I literally know every single one of her friends. I looked at her texts and they were talking using ;) faces and referencing to having hooked up before and hanging out and stuff like that. I was shocked. My friend very recently had sex with a guy and she has made out etc. with a bunch of guys. She always gets really attached to the...

Should I let go or hold on? Posted Sunday August 26 2012, 9:54 pm
So I dont really know what to think or do and I'm hoping I can find some insight here.
Ill try to shorten it as much as possible. My boyfriend of two years who I am in love with and has already given me a ring has severe depression. We are both in our 20s and he realized he has very serious mental issues about 6 months ago that include anger (non violent) and he cannot enjoy anything anymore, including our relationship. While we talked about this and I know it is true, he admitted it to me, he also said that he still loves me and wants to be with me and only me, he just doesn't know where he is in his life or where his life is going.
He is getting professional help so he is on the track of getting better, but ...

Singing Better Posted Sunday August 26 2012, 9:29 pm
Alright, I am not a good singer, but I do believe it can be built up over time and practice, but I don't understand certain things. One being breathing techniques. I've heard that we don't breathe properly (Which makes no sense) All this stuff about diaphragm, stomach, chest, and throat. But the thing is, I cannot tell if I'm doing it properly or how to breath the way they tell me to. It's like I'm missing an upper body monitor/sensor system and manual book that other people apparently have. They tell me not to sing with my throat and all this other stuff. I breathe how I normally breathe, so when they tell me to breathe a certain way, I have no idea how to. Any advice? And when I do try to sing, it's like I'm either shouting it or talking it.

Should I Buy a Car with Manual Transmission Posted Sunday August 26 2012, 5:47 pm
I am about to buy a car and I am FINALLY going to get what I've always wanted, a Jeep Wrangler. I really want it to be black and no newer than a 2006 model because I prefer the older looking ones to the newer ones. Last night, I went around looking at cars and found the perfect one except for one detail, it is manual and I've only ever driven automatic. Both of my parents know how to drive manuals and they would teach me if I needed them to, but is it hard to learn? Once you do learn, is it still much harder to drive than an automatic?

How long is nicotine detectable? Posted Sunday August 26 2012, 3:33 pm
Hi, 24/f. Out of sheer curiosity, does anyone know how long nicotine is detectable in your system via blood test?
I smoke socially on occasion, and I'm gonna have to get a blood test for insurance purposes pretty soon. I want to make sure it doesn't look like I smoke 2 packs a day if I just happened to join a friend in a single cigarette a week before!
Thanks in advance.

Is it weird that I'm only really attracted to nerdy sort of guys? and etc Posted Sunday August 26 2012, 11:55 am
I mean, attractive ones, but they're sometimes the sort of guys who only get more attractive as I get to know them and then it's like I see them in a different way. cause it's easy to just see some jock and acknowledge he has good features but when he's dead inside that's like a total turn off, and I don't get why a lot of girls go for that, unless it's cause they're dead inside, too. the only problem is that these sorts of guys I like tend to be shy about the whole dating arena so what would I have to do to encourage one of these guys to ask me out? I like guys who are generally quiet in public (not really talkative like me, and definitely not cocky, or at least not overbearingly so) but with me I'd want him to generally be the dominant on...

Is it okay that at 18 I still "daydream" a lot? Posted Sunday August 26 2012, 1:49 am
I wouldn't call it daydreaming but ever since I can remember I've had different "life scenarios" playing out in my mind at night when I can't fall asleep or during times when I was really bored.
I can focus fine on the world around me and I've actually done pretty great with life so far. I graduated with honors,an entire binder full of awards, two technology certifications and other random things. The only problems I'm having right now are with finding a job so soon out of high school but I figure I'll get one sooner or later.
I just feel like I should have stopped this by now.
They aren't normal daydreaming about boyfriends and such. They're like entire story lines with intricate details with s...

Why is Firefox Underlining Random Words Linking To Ads? Posted Saturday August 25 2012, 10:35 pm
Here's something annoying that is driving me nuts. I'm using Firefox on a Windows laptop. Lately it's randomly selecting words to double underline in green or orange. Click the words and you get advertising. Do I have a virus or is something I can turn off? If so how? I've seen other people online bitch about this but none have found answers so I'm putting it out to you guys. Hopefully, you know something.

Jealousy, Insecurity, I know the issues but not what to do Posted Saturday August 25 2012, 5:41 pm
20/f For the most part I'm very happy and have a great life. I can get easily upset
and overreact in certain situations but overall, I'm mentally stable and have a great life. I do have inattentive adhd, however, and I'm sure it very much causes my overreacting and worrying, etc. The thing is, I don't often get depressed about things that are actually happening but I can get VERY worried about the future. The other thing is, the main source of my anxiety is matters regarding my social life. I rarely get worrisome over schoolwork, etc. The anxiety almost always correlates with my social life. I'm an extremely kind, considerate person and easy to interact with and people really do like me. Now that I'm in college I have a good amount ...

Boyfriend Left for College Posted Saturday August 25 2012, 11:46 am
19/f
So yesterday, my boyfriend of a year and a half went to a college that is an hour and a half away. He is a freshman and i am a sophomore that is commuting to a community college. The problem is, the college he is at always has horrible traffic that would make visits really difficult. Both of us have been preparing for this for a while now, and we know that we are going to do whatever it takes to make it work because we love each other more than anything. It's just, yesterday made me really nervous because i barely heard from him at all. And when he finally called me, he was all frustrated because he couldn't find a private corner to talk to me in. I had to rush through the details of my day and so did he, and it left me with a r...
