How effective is birth control

As a percentage, how effective and reliable is the birth control pill against pregnancy?
I know it doesn't protect against STI's.

I didnt know if this should go in the sex or health category so I hope its right.
Anyway, I plan on phoning my local sexual health clinic tomorrow about being put on the the birth control pill. My boyfriend will be coming with me.
My main concern is that I do not want my parents to know, I know the clinic can't tell my parents, but I mean, is there anyway my parents can work it out for themselves??
Like.. A change in my period cycle or something?!
Any info would be GREAT!

Feeling Like A loser!

I really like this guy and I know he will probably never like me! What is there to like? I'm so ugly, I'm not as pretty as everyone else. I feel so hideous! I have unwanted hair, like on my upper lip, hands and legs, and I am a girl! How do I make myself feel pretty? I'm not even allowed to shave!

i need major help geting over my ex. We have been broken up for like 5 months now and im still having trouble getting over him. I cant get him outa my mind or out of my dreams. We dated for 4 years before he left me. And he left me for some other girl. He wants 2 be just friends and acts like nothing happends. I just wanna knowmhow he can act like this when we had such a serious relationship. When is this going to stop hurting??

Im really petite for my age; just under five feet tall, and I only weigh about 93 or 94 lbs..
but my wardrobe consists of skinny jeans, white canvas simply basic tennis shoes from kmart, tanktops under graphic tshirts, plain tshirts, a few vnecks and stuff. I almost always wear a zip up jacket or a sweatshirt.
My point is like, you know the scarves like these?

I have big thighs and I cant get rid of them im okay with that but I have a huge stomach with curves...How could i make my stomach as flat as possible in like a week or something Im going on a date with this guy and I want my tummy flat
another thing whats some tips on how to get in shaped before christmas Im in volley ball and I really want my inner thighs in shape and my stomach to flat whats a good diet or good excercises that will show results

Online high school diplomas

Hello all. I am asking this question for a friend of mine that I used to go to high school with. He never passed the final exam back then and now, years later, he was thinking of taking the diploma online.
Anyhow, we spent some hours surfing the net looking at various online options. The only problem was that along the way we came across many warnings of fake schools, diplomas or accrediting institutions.
Our problem is that so many look good on paper. There was particularly one called Keystone which seemed to have a lot of very interesting courses.
So...
Does anyone know anything more specific about this? Particularly any schools or programs that might be an option. Also if anyone...

I recently went to this party of one of my old bestfriends...I saw this guy named jamie there and he was the first and only one to give me a hug when he saw me ( I havent seen them in like 2 years) well I really never talked to jamie in middle school but i have known of him since 6th grade...now i really like him cause he is really cute and nice now
I got his number before i left the party but when should i call and I want to hang out with him what should i be like to make him want to hang out more...he was already telling me drama that was going on with a girl he liked but when everyone else came around he told me he'd tell me later so i take it that he trusts me..how can i keep this up with out messing it up????help give me advice ...

well i dont know if its actually from a song or its just a beat in the movie. buttt its at the end when they battle in the streets [its in the part where andie and chase are dancing and she does the breathing thing? like where hes like making her heart pump] and its also after they play the prank on Tuck and they show the group in the studio practicing like when its dark. idk how to describe because its just a beat, but if anyone knows what im talkin about and could tell me if its from a song and what it is it would be great!

my friend lies about everything she makes stuff up all the time and its starting to buyg me. its getting hard to just ignore it. like, if i tell her how i guy likes me, she has to tell me how some guy ive never heard of likes her. or she just lies to make herself seem more interesting. shes honestly the biggest liar ever.

Would it be safe to pierce my own ears? I have 8 holes already and have never had any problems with them, my ears are sensitive to piercings at all. Im just sick of spending so much money. What are the pros and cons, or some tips.

I like to meet new people online all the time, because I think it's interesting to talk to someone from someplace different from where I live. Well, a couple months ago, I met... "J." J lives across the country from me, and we've become very very good friends. I honestly can say I love him, in a very unromantic way. More of the way you love your best friend. I can't remember the last time I asked a question about a man. Anyway, my friend is in love with this dirtbag cop, and even though he dumped her cause of THE dumbest thing, she can't get over him.
