Chances are, yes, they do. Stores like the ones you listed tend to channel their profits into security systems.

You're on the internet now, so why don't you shop for clothes online? You can get a shirt online for about $10-$15, which is cheaper than at Holister, and DEFINATELY cheaper than jail time.

Why do you ask?

If you're planning to shoplift...

1. Eventually you're going to get caught. When you do... You'll certainly be more embarrassed than you have ever been in your entire life. Many places prosecute now-a-days... And whatever you steal won't be worth: being arrested, going to court, paying court fees, lawyer fees and reclaimation. It won't be worth having a record either, a record that you will have to bring to any potential employer's attention before even being hired. You will be labeled as untrustworthy and dishonest.

2. Think about who you are stealing from. You're not just stealing from some faceless, corporate entity. You are stealing from every person that works in that store. Theft adds up and impacts the 'little' people. Because of theft those honest people that work for a living get cheated out of bonuses and pay raises that they DESERVE.

ok heres the thing. if you see the tan circle thing on the otuside of the jeans that dont come off unless the associate takes them off at the counter, the alarm will sound. and on the inside of the jeans sometimes there is a tag saying "remove after purchase" this is another security tag. most people dont know this but there are still lots of clothes out there with no security tags. bar codes on a price sticker wont sound the alarm.

BUT take it from me, ive lived through the experience. i was a pretty huge shoplifter for 6 months and i took everything from nice perfumes, clothes, makeup, cds, dvds, shoes, video games, comp. games, even radar detector and the list goes on and on..(a group of 3 of us)but there came a day when i got caught and arrested. was released after being fingerprinted so i did not spend the night or anything, but had to go to court and paid a fine because i got caught with under 150 $ on me. it was embarassing to walk out of the mall in cuffs, i was ashamed of my parents knowing, and ppl talked in school about it/teachers knew it was bla.

just dont do it, ive been there and in the end it wasnt worth it. not to mention the store that caught us then "sued" us in a sense for $500. it was bad. *not to mention before getting arrested shoplifting was addicting to me. i couldnt stop...and if it wasnt for the dumb mistake one of my friends made to get us caught, i would still be doing it until i got arrested and probably would have faced a much bigger punishment**

To answer your question, yes, the store probably does have the security things you're talking about.

Most malls do. You see, they don't like shoplifters.

I'm not here to say you're poor- there's no reason to say something rude like that. Just because you plan to shoplift doesn't mean you're poor.

But perhaps I can offer you an alternative which will cost you less money. I'm sure there's a Salvation Army or Value World store around the Rochester area somewhere. What I suggest you do is go to one of them and purchase one of their shirts or pairs of pants or something for under $3. Seriously- it's that cheap.

No, I'm not trying to say you're poor so you should go there. I shop there and even some of the richest people shop there, too. Why? Because it's the SAME shirts and such for a MUCH lower price.

Would you rather pay $3 for a shirt or pay a few months in jail, plus a fine for shoplifting?

Personally, I'd take the $3.

Shoplifting is a serious offense and you'd most definitely go to jail if caught.
Yes, in most Abercrombie and Hollister stores the security alarms will go off. In fact, in any store the security alarm would go off. And those who don't have those "stupid sirens" have security cameras, which will record you stealing.

I really do not think that Hollister merchandise is worth the possibility of jail time. Would you really want that hanging over your head for the rest of your life? All over a pair of jeans or a shirt?
