about

Hey Everyone :) I'm Kate and a level 2 mod on here. I've had this account since July 2004, so I've been on here since I was 13! Wow ... crazy for me to think how long ago that was. I will admit I don't check in as often as I once did, but being away at college, being in a sorority, and having a job when I'm not at school is very time consuming. I still try to help out as much as possible, and if you send me a question I WILL answer it. This site helped me a LOT when I was in high school and had a lot of questions, and I'm here to help anyone who needs it :) Feel free to write in my forum or send me a question any time!

Yesterday I went to the dentist and he removed the nerve of my tooth. Now when I try to eat on it, my tooth hurts. I have to eat slowly on one side. It only hurts when I eat and chew on it.

Do I have pain beacuse of the irritation of the nerve removal or what? Should I wait for some days and than I'll call my dentist?

Is there anyone who did tooth nerve removal? Can you help me pls?

Are you talking about a root canal?

I've had one before, and that area of my mouth was sore for a few days because they have to kinda cut into you to get it...

My dentist prescribed me pain medicine... some kind of tylenol with codein that did a fantastic job of taking away the pain.. and putting me to sleep.

If you want to be on the safe side, call up your dentist and ask them if you're supposed to be sore. They'll give you a time frame of how long the tenderness or sensitivity should last. After a few days, if it's not even going away a little, I suggest making an appointment to make sure it's not infected or something didn't go wrong.

Chances are that you're fine and it's just sore and tender from the procedure. If it's not constantly hurting, and only hurting during eating/chewing/motion, then that's more than likely just tenderness from the removal.
