my tooth hurts when eating after tooth nerve removal
Question Posted Tuesday August 11 2009, 7:01 am
Yesterday I went to the dentist and he removed the nerve of my tooth. Now when I try to eat on it, my tooth hurts. I have to eat slowly on one side. It only hurts when I eat and chew on it.
Do I have pain beacuse of the irritation of the nerve removal or what? Should I wait for some days and than I'll call my dentist?
Is there anyone who did tooth nerve removal? Can you help me pls?
I've had one before, and that area of my mouth was sore for a few days because they have to kinda cut into you to get it...
My dentist prescribed me pain medicine... some kind of tylenol with codein that did a fantastic job of taking away the pain.. and putting me to sleep.
If you want to be on the safe side, call up your dentist and ask them if you're supposed to be sore. They'll give you a time frame of how long the tenderness or sensitivity should last. After a few days, if it's not even going away a little, I suggest making an appointment to make sure it's not infected or something didn't go wrong.
Chances are that you're fine and it's just sore and tender from the procedure. If it's not constantly hurting, and only hurting during eating/chewing/motion, then that's more than likely just tenderness from the removal. [ S_C's advice column | Ask S_C A Question ]
