about

Hey Everyone :) I'm Kate and a level 2 mod on here. I've had this account since July 2004, so I've been on here since I was 13! Wow ... crazy for me to think how long ago that was. I will admit I don't check in as often as I once did, but being away at college, being in a sorority, and having a job when I'm not at school is very time consuming. I still try to help out as much as possible, and if you send me a question I WILL answer it. This site helped me a LOT when I was in high school and had a lot of questions, and I'm here to help anyone who needs it :) Feel free to write in my forum or send me a question any time!

What should i do i am getting braces and what should i use to make the pain go away after please let me know. and what pattern on my rubberbands should i get????

You really don't feel much pain after getting your braces on.
It feels more like a tightening or even kind of what it felt like to have a tooth grow in. It's irritating.

Just take some pain meds. You can take tylenol, ibuprofin, etc. Whatever works best for you. Better to take it right after getting them on so the medicine kicks in by the time the pain starts coming.

For the first few days you'll want to eat soft foods only.
The first day I had my braces on, I ate mashed potatoes and half of a hot dog. It's all I could stand.
Within a few days, you'll be fine. Now you just won't be able to eat sticky or too-hard foods.
Make sure you brush really, really well. It's very easy to get cavities with braces if you don't brush well enough.
