okay so i am just going into a high school, and well i kind of just want some pointers, including on fashion, like are you usually allowed to have those tote bags instead of a backpacks, because i know at the school i was at didnt allow us to carry those around. maybe pointers on good ways to meet new people im going to a private school if that helps at all =] thanks =]
I just graduated high school last month, and my high school didn't care what bookbag you carried.
Here are all sorts of examples of bags myself & others carried at my school

Fashion wise - we had a dress code, but it wasn't too bad. No shorts more than 2-3 inches above the knee. No strapless shirts, tanks, etc. unless the sleeve was 2+inches (the width of our ID cards), etc.
No drug refrences, alcohol refrences, gang refrences (Anything the refers to lawbreaking). Things like that.
Meeting new people is easy. Just strike up conversation with people who sit near you in class. If you're shy, this could be difficult. If you're like me & only shy when you first meet someone (like... the first day), then you'll be fine, too. Don't be afraid to be yourself. That's how you'll meet people who you will become good friends with. If you lie about doing things to make yourself look cool, you'll only be found out and people will think of you as a poser & nobody will like you. It's better to be upfront and honest.
If you're nervous, just try to relax. Realize that everyone feels the way you do. If you see someone sitting alone, don't be afraid to go up to them. Maybe they're really shy and not too great at making friends. You could easily make someones day by just being nice.
If you don't drink, do drugs, etc. then don't worry & don't start. It's a messy thing to get into. I've seen a lot of people get hurt & even die from doing all that stupid stuff. Don't start sleeping around because you think it makes you look cool. Don't lie about sleeping around because you think you'll look cool. You won't. People may say to your face "wow, you got him!?",etc. But behing your back you'll be know as the school's biggest slut...
What it all comes down with is being comfortable in your own shoes.
Confidence is key. If you feel good about yourself, you shine. Literally - people who are confident (not like bragging & thinking they're better than everyone - just people who are comfortable being who they are) really light up a room. Laugh & smile & be happy - it rubs off on people & people will love being around you.
Don't lie about your feelings. Don't be afraid to show you're happy/sad/mad, etc.
Don't be afraid of upperclassman. Mostly they're nice. Those who aren't, well, they aren't worth being friends with anyway.
Join clubs & sports teams. (With sports - don't be afraid to try something. You may be good at it. If not, the worst that will happen is not making the team - who cares?! - Maybe you can be a team manager instead - I was for some stuff).
If you have any specific questions, feel free to drop a line to my inbox. I have experienced lots of stuff, especially with the world of high school. I know all about making friends, clubs, sports, depression/cutting/suicide/anorexia.
