Hey! My name is Lindsay. I'm seventeen, and a senior at Arcadia High School in Arizona. I'm relatively shy, but as soon as you get to know me, I think I'm fairly obnoxious. I've been part of Advicenators for a while, but I took a break, and now I'm trying to remember how I did everything. I'm still getting used to the advertisements, but that will wear off soon.


I'm extremely into music. I'm into little indie bands, as well as old school Green Day, The Beatles, and other punk and classic rock. I play the cello, and I really am starting to like classical music more and more. It really doesn't suck. You should listen sometime.


I try to give fair advice. Only a few times do I ever get responses in which the asker dosen't like what I say. I really like to read relationships stuff, which works well, because there's more Love Life and Relationships questions on here than anything else. If you have a problem, feel free to ask me a private question.

i'm 13 and not allowed to wear make up. my mom thinks i'm too young (what's the big deal, though? it's not like i'll turn into a slut or something!). my dad.... anyway! i was wondering if there was something kind of like make up or something or whatever any tiups on how i can look prettier like i would with make up but is not very noticable (except it makes me look a little better). ways to make my lashes longer, little bit rosier cheeks, whatever. but as long it doesn't make me look cheap or anything. if this helps, i'm a brunnette, darkish beige skin, lightish brown eyes, full (but not huge) lips. i'll rate 5's to everyone who helps.

You should stick with your mom with this. I think that it's fair to not be allowed to wear makeup. Are you alowed to use coverup? That's a way to cover your zits if you have any. That can help you look good WITHOUT makeup.

Alright, so.. I'm torn between two people. I was asked to this dance, by a guy completely out of nowhere.. I mean, he was more of an older brother than anything.. I was hoping the guy I like would ask me, (( keep in mind I've liked him since sixth grade )). Anyway, so.. I'm not sure if should give up on my crush and try and like my friend.. or still hold onto my crush.. By the way, me and my crush are really good friends too.. have known eachother since kindergarden..

So your crush asked you? If yes, then I would go with your crush since you've been "crushing" on him. Your friend is in a rough spot too. He asked you. That takes a lot of guts. It's gard to decline people, I know. But you have to decline someone!

I have a friend who I dated in High School and I have been in love with him since I can remember. He broke up with me then due to personal matters and we stay in contact. We are now both divorced and he is still very anti-love relationship. We have been intimate on occasion, but I want him so bad it hurts and I continue to play it cool but its so hard. How do I assist in turning this relationship into more than just friends?

Call him and ask. There's nothing wrong with being strightforward and getting what you want. This always produces results, but not always the reult you wanted. Hope that helped.

I'm 13 and my brother is 15. He picks on me a lot and sometimes makes me mad but i love him very much. I just wish we were closer. I try to talk to him but he don't talk to me much. How do I get my brother and me to be closer?

It's good that you love your brother. I have a younger brother that I constantly pick on, and I can see how that would get annoying to the younger sibling. Maybe ask him to stop picking on you? Of that's not an option, tell your parents. They can make him stop if the abuse is totally annoying you.

I have a really good friend, Madison, who I like alot... & I'm afraid 2 loose her... but I think I don't just LIKE her... I might love her... but I don't know... & her & I have had some problems getting through all of this, cos she said no when I asked her out... & yet I still love her... & its really confusing... & alot of her friends don't like me & try & turn her agenst me & keep her away from me, & lets just say, I'm not the best looking person in the world & I get alot of problems from other people cos I some how look gay or I'm just not attractive... & I really have problems with it... & so I'm trying 2 get my life back on track & try & get through all these problems I have... & I just want 2 know what I should do about Madison... should I try & move on...? or what...?

Trying to move on is your choice. Maybe you should ask her why she turned you dowm. Your appearance shouldn't have to change. There's this guy in my grade [Chase] and he looks gay, but is really the sweetest person I know. So if Madison is declinig you[r asking out] you should ask her WHY she declined you. That way if there's a good reason you'll know.

I've liked this guy for over a year now, and he's had mutiple girlfriends. I'm really shy and haven't asked him out yet, nor plan on ever asking him out. He knows I like him, but prefers to reacll to us as "just friends" I don't know what to do.

You should try to ask him out. And if thats not remotely possible, you could just live your life as you are now. Maybe in agony, but you should not force him into anything.

does anybody have a quick and easy way of learning to swim?

Er...? A baby pool? Whats the window of time you have before you have to swim? If its a month or so, go to a pool for swim lessons. They should have your age group, no matter what age you are and your ability. Now don't enroll yourself in toddler class. I have a small feeling you can swim better than that. :)

I moved here in 6th grade and I've always wanted to be popular...So I tried hanging with the white popular people and it seriously was HARD work!! Each year, things got better..and now I'm at that point where we'd be better friends if I'd invite them over (I haven't invited them over yet because I'm embaress that they will say that my house is small compared to theres..or that they will make fun of my lifestyle..and everything) I'm now in 11th grade..and I really want to be friends with these people..I don't think I can keep a close relationship with them if I never invite them over...I'm just very embaressed of the way I live...Compared to them, I'm so much uglier and poorer..and they're rich...Please don't judge..Thanks

Just because you are black shouldn't mean a thing. Why be popular!? There's no reason to change yourself for these girls. Invite them to your house. If they trash it, who cares! No one loses except them.

Is it possible to be in love when your 13? Im turning 14 in July but still....his mom wont let him date until like a 'year down the road" (thats what she told me) and we are both willing to wait until his mom 'allows' him to date....ive never liked somebody so much in my life! And hes not even the hottest thing in the world hes the sweetest, funniest, adorablest guy in the world....and ive NEVER felt this way about ANYBODY....i LoVe him....but still is it possible to fall in love when your 13?

heh. I thought that recently. I'm not alowed to date either. Honestly, I don't think you can fall in LOVE with someone, but I think you can like some seriously. I had a crush on this kid when I was 4. I like-liked him. I mean, you can show feelings no matter WHAT age. Try going out as a group. Maybe call it dating, but really just carry the status of going out. You could call eachother every night, and so on. There's many possibilities for you both.

Love is everything. No, love at first sight is not existant. Sorry, but you can't fall in love with someone just by seeing them. And even if you do... you're not falling in love with them for the right reasons.

There's this guy name James...well,in 7th grade, I heard he used to like me and he was going to ask me out...well I HATED HIM...I still do! I'm not in 9th grade and I thought he was over me because he has all these girlfriends...But lately, everytime I just happen to glance over, I see him looking at me! I hate to say it, but I think he might still like you. GOOD NEWS: You can do something about it. Go ahead and ask him if he likes you. If he says yes, say that you think its flattering but not cool cause you don't like him back. If he says no then say, "The please, stop staring at me. It's annoying"

okay, let me break it down for you...my best friend (lets call him X) has a girlfriend, and his girlfriend is my friend (but not like a best friend) and i told X that i liked him. He said that he had liked me for like a year and a half before he got together with his girlfriend. So, we are still best friends, but i dont know what to do. Should I still like him because i know that i dont have a chance because he's already got a girlfriend and they are close (but i dont think he loves her as much as he says he does..)? Should i just like him as my best friend only? Or should I keep loving him, and he will never know how much I love him? Help! Im so confused!!

I think you should ask him how he feels about you and his girlfriend. Who does he like more? I hate to break it to ya sista, but you need to take action if you think you have a chance.
