are about wanting to be with someone but can't because they are leaving to go somewhere else

or songs about:
wanting to be with someone but you can't because of an age difference in the real world or in high school.

Are there any unexplainable topics that bother you?? Maybe like witches, ghosts, maybe your evil school teacher? i am doing a paper for school and need to know.

Honestly, the idea of ghosts [and by ghosts, I mean real ghosts like spirits, not Casper.] bothers me a lot. Like, I'm completely fascinated by it, but at the same time it terrifies me.

As far as witches go, I don't know that I really believe in witchcraft. It's a cool concept, I just don't choose to believe it really exists.

And I really don't have any evil school teachers...

I hope this helps, and if you need a more in depth answer, send a question to my inbox.

I would love to wear blush, lipstick and eyeshadow that look flattering on me.. but I'm not really into the whole trial and error process anymore.

Any tips with colors? I'm not sure what you'll call my skin tone.. a light olive? I've gone through about 3 shades of blush and many of eyeshadow. It just looks SO odd.

I really want lipgloss/lipstick because I can't really carry vaseline around in my pocket. I would also like to look nice for some job interviews so yeah.

I can't ask for help at a department store because they will test out products and it's like $60 for the makeup artist.

The best tip I can give, is to make it look like you're hardly wearing any make up at all. You can't go wrong with the natural look.

- Use light and neutral eye shadows like beige, tan, and even an olive green for more special occasions.
- Lip gloss always looks best when it's hardly noticeable, like Laura below me said. Go for a light shade that's hardly any different from the natural color of your lips.
- As for blush, it's pretty hard to find a good one, so you'll just have to go with trial and error. I'd suggest starting with a light shade, and gradually working up to darker ones until you find one that you like. I hope that makes sense.

Have you gone to the mall, and to a make up counter and asked for some help there? Usually, they'll talk to you and help you find suitable shades for your skin for free!

Good luck!

well i have a boyfrind and we have kissed but it only lasts for like one second becase he like pulls away. i really want to make out with him and i think he really wants to make out with me but we just dont...what do i do??

Let it happen naturally. Don't force him to do something he doesn't want to do.

And remember, you have plenty of time for kissing. It will be a much better experience if you both enjoy it =]

When I go on a road trip I get very ill and vomit. I don't like to vomit, of course, so I try to avoid going on long trips. Motion sickness is awful!

My family has planned a nice vacation in a couple of weeks. The problem is that the trip will be a few hours long and I'm afraid I'll get car sick again. I always get carsick after being in the car longer than an hour so I'm pretty certain I'm going to end up ill.

How can avoid getting carsick this time?
I know there is medications to preventing carsickness but I'm not sure of the names of those medications. I know they're actually for motion sickness, but what are the names of a few affordable medications?
Is there anything else I can do besides taking medication for motion sickness?

A trick I use when I feel like I'm getting car sick: Take your thumb and middle/point/whatever finger works, and make a circle around your wrist on the other hand. Make the circle right on the bone, and hold it there.

It's kind of hard to explain, but I saw it on TV [I believe it was an episode of Oprah] and learned about this in health class, and it really does work.

well i have this problem...i wanna ask my best guy freind to grad...i want him to be my escort because truth is there is noone else worth taking so iam still trying to work up the courage to ask him i dont know how..any advice?? thank you;)

Just go for it!

Tell him you've been thinking about it, and you thought it would be nice if he was your escort. Try not to make a huge deal over it. Just bring it up with him and say you thought it would be a nice idea.

Life is WAY too short to not take chances and risks once in a while. Why sit around wondering what could've been, what would've been and what should've been, when you can answer all of those questions and then some by being honest and telling a boy how you really feel about him?

Best of luck =]

there is this guy at my school, and i like him, and he might like me cuz he smiles at me ALOT, but i dont know what to say on his birthday (9 days) and no, im not going to make the first move!! -any advice??

I think you should make him a birthday card! Like, a hand made one, not a store bought one. This will show that you care about him, and are willing to take time to make him something special for his birthday =]

As far as "making the first move", why not?

So, I'm 17 years old and my girlfriend is 19. We've been dating for 6 months and she's in college in a different state. We've started this thing where I ask her one question every night until she comes home in two months.

I've asked alot of really good questions but I'm running out of ideas!

So if anyone has any ideas, that'd be great :)

thankyou!

ps, we're both girls. if that helps at all.

You can ask something like:

- What was the best part of your day?
- What was the first thing you thought of when you woke up?
- What was the last song you sang out loud?
- When was the last time you smiled?
- What are you wearing? [not mean to be dirty]
- What was the last movie you saw in theaters?
- What mood are you in?

Another idea I just had, do you use Myspace? If so, do you know how people fill out surveys? You can use questions from those. If you don't know what I'm talking about, send me an inbox and I'll give you some cool questions I see on surveys.

I was curious when and if a new season of south of nowhere is coming on?

Thanks!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_of_nowhere

"The second season was originally set to begin on October 6, 2006, but was pushed up to September 29, 2006. Its season premiere followed the sixth season premiere of Degrassi: The Next Generation. Ratings for the second season are up by 35% from season 1 and on November 17, the series reached a high among teens with a 2.16 rating.[2]

"The network officially renewed South of Nowhere for a third season, and 16 episodes have been ordered. Eight episodes aired from August 10, 2007 to September 21, 2007.

On February 27, 2008, it was officially announced on the N'sider podcast that South of Nowhere was to be cancelled after the end of season 3B. Fans of the show were devastated. Student groups formed across the nation in protest, especially from the UCLA campus. One fan in particular began a sit-in demonstration in the middle of the I-5 from Wednesday to Friday of February 12-15 2008.

Promos began airing in March 2008 stating the show would be returning April 11. However, on March 21, it was announced that the final half of the third season had been pushed back to the fall.

Season 3 16 October 10, 2007 - December 2008."

So basically, it's only got like half of a season left. Which is sad, because I was just getting into the show myself =/

I really need help with organizing my life. You see, I have a ton of school stuff (courses) and it's really tough to keep it all up without organizing it, then I have appointments, my social life, etc.

I seriously have no clue on how to organize these things, I would love to, but it's like I'm totally elliterate when it comes to organization. I no longer want to be that way, please help me.

P.S. If you need any other information, please specify and I'll be happy to clarify or add anything. Thanks so much!

Thanks for inboxing! I'm really glad you asked about organization, because it's one of my favorite topics =]

What I suggest doing, is getting a daily planner. It really helps if you keep up with it. Write down all your school subjects and then next to it write the homework. Write down all your appointments, and what time. Write down where you're going after school and who with.

Get a monthly calendar, too. I keep mine on the back of my door so I see it every time I leave my room. This way, I'll always see what I have going on for the rest of the day or what I have going on.

Another suggestion, don't plan too much. Don't plan to hang out with your best friend on the same day you have a dentist appointment and a history project due. You'll only end up overwhelming yourself and messing up your plans.

If you need more help, inbox me any time and I will gladly suggest some more tips!

PS. I didn't know if by school stuff, you meant homework and book organization trouble. If you need ways to literally, keep your STUFF organized, let me know.

Okay well i'm 16 years old and i want to start dancing lessons.

I did about a year of ballet but that was when i was 6.

I know all the good dancers have been dancing since they were really young and so i need some advice.

I would like to know if its a good idea. I really love dancing and i want to take lessons in contemporary or hip hop or something but would they even let me? Is there anyone else who started dancing late in their childhood?

I'd also like to know how much lessons would be if anyone can give me an estimate.

Any other helpful advice would be gratefully appreciated.

It's never to late to start dancing! Do you watch So You Think You Can Dance? Well, regardless of if you do or not, one of the dancers who made it to the TOP FOUR, started dancing when he was 18!

As for how much lessons are, it really varies and depends on where you live and what type of classes you're taking.

I myself just started taking beginning dance for my gym class, and we are learning ballet, jazz, and modern, so I'd guess that one of those areas is a good starting point. We're just finishing up ballet, and I suggest taking it because it's really basic and simple, yet very fun and entertaining. As far as what we learned, I found this website and it pretty much covered it all:

i am in college and i took so many courses which i can't drop (because i need them and aren't offered next sem and i graduate) i have never done this before! any advice on how to go through with this! i am sooooo worried that i'll fall behind! how do i keep track of everything! i have 6 theory coursesssss!

One word: Organization. You need to organize yourself, and like the columnist said below, your time.

Get a notebook and folder or a binder for every class and LABEL it. Keep all contents inside the folder and take all notes in the notebook. Don't mix them up. I suggest color coating; that's what really helps me.

Second, keep your dorm/room clean so you don't lose supplies. I know you may think keeping a room clean has no effect on your schoolwork, but it really does. Do you have a bookshelf? If so, keep all of your books on one shelf and put them in the order of the classes. So, if you have a math class first, put the math book first and so forth.

Next, organize your time. Get a daily planner, and write down what times your classes are at and what other things you have to do [and their times]. Update it every day after every class if you have to, and stick to it.

Also, be CONFIDENT. If you think you can keep up with your classes, and you believe that you can do it, you're much more likely to succeed than if you keep doubting yourself and worrying.

Hi! I'm currently volunteering at my local hospital and working on an event for National Eating Disorders Awareness (I'm the chairperson). My main goal in life is to help others, do you know any other ways that I can do so? Thanks!

P.S. I think your advice is awesome, that's why I wanted to ask you, Laura. =]

Thanks for inboxing and thanks for the compliment. It kind of made my day.

First off: I think that what you're doing and your interest in wanting to help other is amazing and that there should be more people like you in this world.

That being said, there's a lot you can do to help others! You can start with something simple like making [and keeping up with] an advice column on this site, and move on to bigger things like volunteering more.

Do you have a community service type club at your school? At my school, it's called Interact and we do a lot of stuff to help people out. It's a really great club and I highly suggest joining it if your school offers it. And if it doesn't, perhaps you can suggest creating it? I think that would be a marvelous thing for you to do. Also, does your school do a Special Olympics? Mine does, and while I am not personally involved with it myself, I know people who are and they always tell me how much fun they have and how great they feel after helping out.

Some other things you can do are:
- Spend a Saturday or Sunday at a nursing home just talking to and spending time with the elders.
- Help out at a soup kitchen.
- Organize some sort of collection [food drive, clothes/shoes donation, toys] and then bring everything you collect to a local shelter.
- Spend a day helping at a local animal shelter.
- Go to the local foster children's home, and bring some simple things with [board games, coloring books, etc] and hand them out to all the kids.
- When it's closer to the holidays, visit a nursing home with a group of your friends and deliver Christmas cards. I did this once with art club at school, and it was truly one of the most rewarding experiences ever.
- Tutor kids at your school who are having trouble. I'd suggest starting with younger kids [maybe friends of siblings? Or neighbors?] and then once you get used to it, you can even start tutoring people your own age.
- Help out at the library, re shelving books, reading to little kids, etc.

This was a really fun question to answer, and it made me want to go do some helping out of my own. Keep me updated with what you're doing! =]

Or, if you'd like more suggestions, inbox me again.

Hi. I'm 18, and yes, I am an adult living at home with my parents.

I hate being here. My parents try and live for me. I know that while I live under their roof, rules apply, and that I need to respect the rules and my parents. But I think my mom's too controlling. I still have a curfew (usually around midnight. EVERY night). My mom insists on meeting every friend I make before she allows me out of the house with them, and I'm FORBIDDEN to go to dance clubs or even the hookah bar a lot of my friends chill (even though I don't smoke, and she knows that). Everytime we argue, she ends up screaming at me, and when she gets really mad, she'll take my bedroom door away. She has to know where I am at all times, and if I'm not doing something she approved of, she'll take my cell (she pays the bill), my car keys (she pays for my car insurance), and my debit card (she's cosigned on it).

If I had enough money left over from paying for school, I would support myself and move out. But I can't afford anything besides school right now, and that's a priority. But I have NO freedom, and mom and i fight constantly.

tonight she actually wouldnt let me visit my boyfriend because he and I recently fought and mom thought it'd be best if i "didn't forgive him yet".

She's controlling my life completely and I'm on the verge of a breakdown. The very thought of coming home to her after class each day makes me want to cry, and I often do on the way home. She insists all my emotional stuff is "drama" and that she is never wrong.

What do I do to cope?

please help.

Well, this is a really difficult situation, but you said it yourself: as long as you live in THEIR house, you're going to have to deal with THEIR rules.

You are lucky you have a home and parents who obviously care about your well being. You could be MUCH worse off. You need to keep in mind that your parents are only looking out for you; they're not out to destroy your life or make every single decision for you. They just want what is best for you!

Having said that, I would sit your mom [and dad if you need to] down, and have a calm, real conversation with them. Explain to them that you are 18, and a legal adult, and you think you should have a bit more freedom in your life. You need to let them know that they are really upsetting you, and you feel like they're trying to control your life. You need to voice your opinions, but you do not need to yell or fight about it.

Another tip: Be mature and when your mom is screaming, don't scream back at her. She's doing SO much for you: paying your cell phone bill, your car insurance AND cosigning on your Debit card, and you need to remember that. I really don't know what else to tell you, other than perhaps if you show maturity and responsibility, your parents will consider giving you more freedom.

Also, I think you should find a way to relieve your stress. Start a journal, listen to music, go for a run, anything. Here's a link to my suggestions for stress relief:

I hope this helps & best of luck.

I really like this guy and I know he will probably never like me! What is there to like? I'm so ugly, I'm not as pretty as everyone else. I feel so hideous! I have unwanted hair, like on my upper lip, hands and legs, and I am a girl! How do I make myself feel pretty? I'm not even allowed to shave!

First off, never say that no guy will like you, because there is somebody out there for everybody and you WILL one day find a guy who loves you for who you are. You're still young and have PLENTY of time left to find him.

Next, you need to stop being so DOWN on yourself. If there's one thing lately that I've been bombarded with, it's everybody focusing on only their flaws and not their good qualities! There is good and bad in every single person, and everybody has flaws and imperfections. But there's one other thing to remember: There is beauty in EVERYTHING. You ARE beautiful in your own way.

My advice? Ya gotta accentuate the positive, eliminate the negative. Focus on your good qualities over your bad. For example, what is something you're good at? Can you draw amazingly, sing super well, run a mile in 6 minutes? One of those things doesn't have to be your good quality, but everybody has good qualities and you need to focus on yours.

As for how to feel pretty, I always feel pretty when I dress up. So, maybe you can go out and buy a few new shirts that make you feel good, or buy some eyeshadow that just makes your eyes look gorgeous!

And check out my beauty tips FAQ:
