My favourite quote is 'Do unto others as you would have them do unto you'.
Life really is a roller-coaster with it's ups and downs and varying speeds. Yet no matter how hard you try to stay on an even keel, something always comes along to kick you in the teeth and remind you just how fragile life is. We are all trying to live the best we know how and to get along together. So take time to appreciate those around you and tell them how much you love them occasionally. A smile and a kind word speaks volumes.

I'm 13 and i got my period about a year and a half ago and i've always used pads. i just recently tried tampons because i have dance preformances and cant wear pads because they will slide off my costumes. so for my first time, i tried my moms "playtex gentle glide" tampons and they're " super absorbancy tampons" is it okay that i used these? or do u have any beter recomendations?? thanks. i rate 5's (link)
|
I suggest that you ask your Mum to go with you to buy the most suitable tampons for you. She can advise you on which ones will be better. It is always a good idea to only get the lowest absorbency ones right for you. If your Mum can't/won't help then pop along to your Pharmicist and ask them to help. Hope that helps. Good luck with your dance performances.

We had a dog who would always use its paws to try to move the blankets ( rake ) and he did it for no reason, and kept moving it, he did it everytime we went to bed.
Then he died, and we got a new dog, who is a girl, and she does the same thing.. and I am just wondering why she does that? (link)
|
Dogs like to be comfortable and so they move blankets around. Also the pawing motion is leftover from when they used to paw the mothers breast area around the nipple to bring on the milk, so they probably also associate it with comfort and sustenance from their mother. I hope that helps answer your question.

Is there an age that women reach and they'll stop getting their period? (link)
|
Most women start going through their menopause in their late 40s early 50s. It has been known for some women to have an early menopause - 20s/30s but usually for a medical reason. Also they can go through the menopause late in life. Every woman is different and may follow the pattern that their mother has gone/going through. Hope that helps.

would you consider "to hell with it" to be vulgar? as in cursing? (link)
|
It is just a saying nowadays and nobody really sees any other meaning in it other than the person who said it couldn't be bothered with whatever they were saying it about. I wouldn't worry about it. Hope that helps.

Didn't know whether to put this under relationships or spiruality, but here it is.
Ok, so i was with this guy for 7 months, we broke up a while back and have jsut got back together.
We're both Christians. We had a greart relationship, and I completely adore him, but one of the problems with it was the whole sex thing. We weren't having sex, we're only 15 and fully intend to save sex for marriage but apparently most guys find it harder to control than girls. We went further than we wanted to quite a few times and regretted it later. We've prayed a lot about the issue, and when we're talking rationally, we both know that less is more. We want to keep as much physical stuff as possible for later on. But that's easier to say than do. It often seemed like he wanted to keep going, and I knew we should stop. It was always me that had to say no. And after a while, it makes you feel bad, constantly having to say no to your boyfriend.
So my question is, now we're back together, ready for a new start and really want to make this relationship work, how can we help ourselves to stay in control and put God first in this area of our relationship?
Sorry it's so long, and thanks (: (link)

You are both very young and having sex under 16 is illegal. It can be very hard to control your emotions and feelings and it takes a very strong person to pull back and say stop. If you both agree to reach a certain point in the passion and then stop neither of you should feel guilty. Although in a Christian relationship you should wait until you are married, very often it is not possible to wait. God will not think badly of you for wanting to enjoy the pleasures that he has got in store for. Talking is the best thing that both of you can do. Should your passion boil over into a full physical relationship please be prepared with a condom at the very least. Continue to remain in control if your boyfriend cannot, but don't feel bad about your morals. They are precious and can never be taken back. Once you have crossed the barrier you can never go back, but having waited it will be all the more special. If you attend Church regularly and have a lovely Minister why not approach him/her to help you stay on your chosen path. Good luck with your futures and stay strong.

17/f. Recently I found out that my boyfriend had kissed his best friend about 2 months ago. Found out from a source other than him. As far as I know, it was a quick thing that he regretted afterwards, a slip. I'm not really mad that it happened, but I'm kind of hurt that my boyfriend wouldn't tell me, we're always very open with eachother about everything and I've told him before that he can tell me things like that without me being irrational. I'm wondering if you think I should ask him about it? He's never given me a reason not to trust him before, and I'm pretty sure I know why/how it happened, I just don't know whether to bring it up with him.
Thanks :) (link)
|
He may be so embarrassed by this kiss that he may feel humiliated by admitting to you that it had happened. Occasionally someone may do something that for them is so embarrassing that even thinking about it makes them cringe. I wouldn't let it worry you that he has not told you this secret and accept that one day he may feel brave enough to say. Whatever happens don't ever throw it in his face as it could cause a lot of heartache. You sound like a very mature 17 year old and he is very lucky to have you. Good luck.

ok i really wanna go to a dance on Friday but my parents want to go out that night and they never go out together so if i go to the dance they cant go out because of my sister but i really want to go to the dance and i havent been to one all year! what shood i do?!?!?!?! (link)
|
Firstly I would suggest that you put together some ideas about what you would like to do and how it may be achieved. I.E. Find a reliable babysitter (Grandma, aunt, friend) Go to the dance and come home at a reasonable hour. Or as the person before suggested have a sleepover with some friends. Write a list of ideas and ask your parents to talk over the ideas including them going out and you staying home. Try and see things from their point of view and then invite them to see your point of view. If at the end of your chat there really is no way round you and them both going out accept that life is unfair sometimes and stay in with good grace. Whatever happens have a great time and good luck with your decisions.

Dear Advicenators,
I want to get my belly button pierced so bad (for my 8th grade graduation) but my mom says no. I don't know what I can say to convence her that I really want this, and will do anything to get it.
What can I tell her to convince her to let me get it peirced? My dad will accept if she accepts, but I already brought up thae fact of good grades, good friends, and I dont' know what else to say! Thanks for the advive.

I guess that being an 8th grade you are still fairly young. It would help a lot if you got as much information about piercings and took advice from a professional. Once you have done that, present it to your Mum and ask her to talk through your desire to have it done. Present the facts in an adult manner and really listen to her objections. If she is really adamant that you should not have it done then there is not a lot you can do about it because without her permission a professional will not pierce your bellybutton. Compromising is a good way of going forward - telling your Mum that you agree to wait for a certain period and then ask again to have it done. I did not allow my daughter to have her bellybutton pierced until she was sixteen and I think that is a pretty reasonable age. Don't lose your temper with your Mum because she is only looking out for your welfare. You could also ask her to go with you to talk to someone who actually does piercings. Whatever happens please don't do it yourself because you could end up with a nasty infection. Hope this helps. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

When I first found out I was pregnant, My boyfriend and I automatically started coming up with girl names. As I got further along, everyone just knew that I was having a baby girl. My boyfriend wanted a boy over a girl because he says that they have more attitudes, but he kept saying girl names. Well, when I went for my ultrasound at the end of my 19th week, the lady that did it seemed crazy. First, when she pulled out the leg part on the table that I was suppose to lay on, she pulled it all the way out and it fell. She started laughing like she was nuts. Anyway, she asked us if we wanted to know the gender and we said yea, then she said it was a boy real fast, and that was that. The thing that made me feel like their could be a big chance that she could had made a mistake is that she found out the sex a little too fast but she acted like she couldn't find my baby's head!!!!! Her excuse was that the baby was moving alot. It took her about 10 to 15 minutes just to get a wierd angle picture of it and give it to us. When I showed my doctor my ultrasound picture, she said "why did she even give you this?" So basically, she really had me confused. So do you think I should believe her completly about my baby's gender when she couldn't even find the head?!!!!! (link)
|
How confusing for you. I think that you should ask to be referred for another ultrasound and explain why to your GP. Ultrasounds are usually correct in professional hands but nothing is guaranteed to be 100%. Wait until you have been scanned again before deciding on any names. Whatever gender it turns out to be you will love it just the same. Good luck for your future together as a new family.

i know people are prob getting sick of these kinda questions but w/e
how would you react/do if you found out that your 16 year old daughter that you had alot of trust with told you she was pregnant.you guys were not really that close but didnt really fight or anything. (please be realistic!)
** only answers this if you are acually old enough to have a child aka like 25 or older (it can be a guy or girl) (link)
|
I am a mother of two girls. At first I think I would be desperately disappointed that at 16 they were either pregnant or trying to get pregnant. I would also feel angry and upset but once those feelings had been aired I think I would try and talk to her about her options. They need to know how very difficult it would be to raise a child themselves especially at such a young age. I should imagine that they would be frightened of just about everyone and everything in that situation. Finally, once all the shock was out of the way and decisions had been made - (1) If they were keeping the baby I would want to support them both emotionally or (2) hold her hand if the decision was a termination or adoption. Although personally I would not allow a grandchild of mine to be adopted if there was a chance of keeping it. Every girl and family are different. Any parent will lose their rag but they love you and only want the best. Good luck with any decisions you make.

im a 14 year old male nd i am going to get my lip double pierced and i waned to know if anyone had any way for my parents not to see it i know about putting a clean stud in but are there any other ways for it to not be that noticable when the rings arent in (link)
|
I'm sorry to say that there will be no way to hide a lip piercing from your parents. When you have the piercing done you will be advised to keep the stud/ring in until it heals completely. You will also need your parents permission to have this done because you are 14 years old. It would be better to wait until you no longer need their permission. It will show them a degree of maturity being able to wait until you are older. These piercings can look great on the older male face but in my opinion on a young lad they look slightly out of place. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Hey, I'm 14 years old, I was just wondering if it is possible for a 14 year old to get the birth control pill, but only use it for like a month. Because, I'm going somewheres over the summer for 2 weeks at a camp, and my mom and i calculated the weeks, and most likely i'll have my period then...and i really dont want to get it, because i'll be taking a lot of classes, and i dont want to have to ask to use the bathroom all the time... I'm still using pads, i dont like tampons, maybe tampons would give me more time so i dont have to change my pad every hour...but, get back to me on that whole birth control pill. Thanks! {oh, sorry this was long, and no i dont plan on having sex, thats not what i need the pill for thanks!} (link)
|
If you go and see your Doctor I am sure that they can prescribe you a pill that you can take before your period is due and will delay it until you come home again. Alternatively, my daughter has a contraceptive injection that stops her periods altogether. She does not appear to suffer any problems with this injection and allows her to lead a period-free life whilst she is at Uni. Talk to your Mum about these different methods and then ask her to accompany you to see your Doctor. Not all girls want sex just because they are taking a form of birth control. Enjoy your camp holiday and great on you for being able to discuss this with your Mum.

my mom always hits me. i have scratch and bite marks all over me. how do i stop my mom from punching me? she always hurts me for no reason. i really don't know what to do. i'm scared. she never hits my sister. only me. and my fat pig sister always does the wrong things and i don't and nothing ever happens to her. help. (link)

Hello sweetheart. You don't say how old you are so I am guessing you can't be that old. It is never right for any parent to hit out at their children for no reason. You really need to talk to an adult that you trust. Is there a teacher at school that you can trust or an aunt or grandparent? You really need to speak out about this and you need to do so today. You could also call Child Services and talk to them and they will help you deal with this situation. I read in another answer that this is child abuse and I agree. It sounds like your mother has her own problems and is focussing all her aggression on you and this is never acceptable. She is the grown up in this case but she is acting like a child. Please please talk to someone immediately and explain what is happening in your life. You do not have to take this abuse. Good luck and please get in touch if you need more advice.

I'm seeing a counselor on Friday. I'm not used to being open with other people, or strangers. What should I do to make it easier for me to talk about what is on my mind and my feelings. I don't want it to be a waste of time because I have half an hour. Thanks in advance. (link)
|
During the training that a Counsellor undertakes they do a lot of role-model senarios and they have to learn how to ask open questions (questions that do not need a yes or no answer to it). A Counsellor that has been practising for a long time will have heard practically every human anxt. Their job is to listen to you and allow you to comfortably talk about whatever is troubling you. They will not make you feel stupid or uncomfortable and over the course of however many sessions you need you will find that your own solutions will materialise. They will be able you to empower yourself and take control of your life again. If it would be easier on you, write down what it is that you need to say or any questions that you feel are relevant. Don't be afraid to open up and share with your Counsellor because for your session they are completely "with" you. They will not discuss with anyone else your situation. Never feel that you are wasting their time. Good luck and best wishes.

well my vagina burns. i had a look (i know it sounds gross but its painful) and its red both sides just inside.
i have no idea why it is. Im not sexually active and havent had anyone do anything down there.
what could it be and what should i do? but please dont tell me to go to the doctors/gyn. (link)

It is possible that you have something called thrush. It is not an infectious disease. It is advisable to go and see your GP or talk to a pharmicist at your chemist. They can prescribe an anti-fungal cream or tablet that will help get rid of these painful symptoms. There is no need to be embarrassed as all doctors will have seen these symptoms many thousands of times. Every woman at one time or another will have suffered with this and it is easily got rid of. Please don't put up with this any longer. Good luck and best wishes.

Hey, don't know if this is the right catagory but...
How normal/ok is it for teenage guys or girls not to wear underwear occasionally?
Is it just a matter of preference or is it weird not to? Is it difference for boys and girls?
Just wondering!
(link)
|
It is perfectly acceptable to go "commando" as long as you feel comfortable and not in a position in which you will be seen to not be wearing underwear. It might be an offence if you are caught flashing. Sometimes it can be seen as a little wicked to go out without any underwear on (not in a bad sense - just naughty). Sometimes for a female it can be very healthy to wander around the house from time to time allowing the air to get to your private parts. As for the male of the gender I can't really say except that boxer shorts can allow the air to flow freely around that region. It is a personal choice that only the individual can decide. Good luck with your choices.

how to help teen daughter not to raise her voice to unacceptable levels when we talk. (link)
|
I have found over the years that if I keep my voice low and calm and maintain as much eye contact as possible, my teenager would start reacting in the same way. Alternatively, I have also walked away and told them that when they are ready to treat me with respect, then I will treat them in the say way. Failing that - yell louder!!

I am so upset with a psychic reading that I had today. I paid a lot of money- 80 dollars for the reading and it was done over the phone. I only did it because my mother said she's been going to this guy for the last 15 years and that he was very good- and his other testimonials on his website looked promising. Well I asked him if I would end up with the guy that I love- I've been friends with him for a long time. He was really negative and said he did NOT love me- that he thought of me as a fantasy and not reality and he would never commit to me. He told me to cut off contact with him forever- and not to tell him I'm cutting off contact with him or else he'll do anything to be my friend again. I was almost in tears because I feel in my heart that he does love me but is shy. I don't want to cut off all contact with him I think this psychic is nuts. But my mother said how good he is- what should I do? I am so upset! (link)
|
A good, reputable psychic will never give any negative feedback. They are there to guide you and not give definitive answers. They should certainly never tell you what to do. We are given the freedom of choice and if you feel he has taken away that choice please don't ever have anything to do with this psychic. You must follow what you feel is in your heart and what is right for you. Good Luck.
