Hey, I'm 14 years old, I was just wondering if it is possible for a 14 year old to get the birth control pill, but only use it for like a month. Because, I'm going somewheres over the summer for 2 weeks at a camp, and my mom and i calculated the weeks, and most likely i'll have my period then...and i really dont want to get it, because i'll be taking a lot of classes, and i dont want to have to ask to use the bathroom all the time... I'm still using pads, i dont like tampons, maybe tampons would give me more time so i dont have to change my pad every hour...but, get back to me on that whole birth control pill. Thanks! {oh, sorry this was long, and no i dont plan on having sex, thats not what i need the pill for thanks!}

Alternatively, my daughter has a contraceptive injection that stops her periods altogether. She does not appear to suffer any problems with this injection and allows her to lead a period-free life whilst she is at Uni. Talk to your Mum about these different methods and then ask her to accompany you to see your Doctor. Not all girls want sex just because they are taking a form of birth control. Enjoy your camp holiday and great on you for being able to discuss this with your Mum. [ Elcee's advice column | Ask Elcee A Question ]

In order to get on the pill you have to have a pelvic exam and all that hoopla. If you go to that trouble it may just be a good idea to start taking it full time. Then you will always be certain of when you are getting your period. You
would be safe when the day comes you decide to have sex...even though it may be years down the road yet.
Discuss it with your mom and see what she has to say on the subject. I am sure your doctor can help you decide on which way would be the best for you. :) [ karenR's advice column | Ask karenR A Question ]
