Q: Ok so we were signing yearbooks on our last day of school and the guy I like (Andrew) traded yearbooks with me to sign and i he signed his name and like no message and so i signed the same thing only have a gr8 summer. So my bff takes his yearbook and writes ps - she likes you, pointing an arrow to my message and i dont know if he likes me back or not i couldnt really tell his expression but he looked at me often before that. He might be trying to avoid me now that he knows. What am I supposed to think? Should I contact him over the summer? Or does he not like me?! HELPPP!!!
I rate 5's.
Thx in advance.

I personally have a feeling that he probably would have known that anyways. But if he didn't, the remark isn't going to really change anything. If it does not come from you, it just seems like the friend is teasing him or something. But, assuming he believes it, I would do what you would have done otherwise. Contact him like how you normally would, hang out like normal, etc. I can't say if he likes you or not, since I do not know enough about you, him, and the whole situation, but I wouldn't worry about that yet.
Pretty much, don't make much of the situation. It is probably going to be read much differently than you think.

Have you tried stridex pads? They come in a neat little jar and work by drying that area of skin up, so that the pimples tend to either get popped or go away...

I think 13 and 14 is young, but it is really up to you to decide. If you feel unconfortable with it, then do not do it. There is little risk with STDs and pregnancy in it, so there is no age where you are definatel TOO YOUNG to do it, but in today's society, it would be seen as too young. But if you don't think so, go for it.

Q: heres a problem. i really need help asap.
B0B PUT $20 INTO A BANK ACCOUNT. EVeRY MONTH IT DOUBLES. IN 5 MONTHS, HOW MUCH $ WILL BE EARNED?
please show me how to get this answer!

Alright. So when Bob put the $20 in, it was the start of month 1. At the start of month 2, it is 20*2, or 40 dollars. At the start of month 3, it is 40*2, or 20*4, which is $80.
With this, you can get is for 5 months by using the formula:
a*n^t
With a being the $20 he put it, the n being the amount of interes (Double), and the t being the time.
20*2^5
20*32
The rest is up to you.
I would be willing to show you how to get more answers if you wish, but I am not giving just answers.

Q: Hii! Ok this isn't even an advice question, so I'm hoping it doesn't get deleted, but I am really starting to wonder who DangerNerd is? I do not know if DN OWNS the website, so to speak. I believe that is Spacefem. However, he is the main go to guy on this website, and makes all the changes and does most of the work on the site itself. He is also generally the last guy that issues with the site goes to. It's kind of like in England, where he'd be the Prime Minister, Spacefem is the Queen, and the L2s are parliment.

Q: is chlorine good for your skin? when i go in a pool for a while, get out, and take a shower, the next day my skin is soft. is chlorine bad for your hair too?
Chlorine is not bad for your skin. I swim normally, and the most I ever get is soft skin, as you said, maybe a little dry, and if I go in for too long, my skin will smell like chlorine even after a few showers. What happens is that your cells are more percentage water than the chlorinated water, so water leaves some of your cells and chlorine goes in. A shower takes the chlorine out.
And chlorine can be bad for your hair. If you are blond, it may even turn green. You want to use a swimmer's shampoo when washing.

Q: I'm14 and i'm not crash dieting but i'm trying to tigheten up my tummy for the summer but the thing is i really don't want my breats to shrink what do i do to loose weight while avoiding that?

If you are going to go on a diet, there is not much you can do about it, since you lose fat everywhere, and unfortunately breasts are mostly fat. However, if you were to exercise, and not diet, you can decide where to "Firm up", which would be your legs (By running), and your abs (Crunches)
Either way, I don't think dieting to lose 10 pounds would make your breasts shrink anywhere near noticably. If you're going for more, yes, it would.
Just a note. If you are going to exercise, you do not want to look at the scale. The fat is being turned into muscle, and muscle is heavier. You will probably not loose much weight that way, but you will look a lot better.

Q: So, last night (Around 1:30 in the morning?) my boyfriend and I had sex and whatnot. We used a condom and all, but it ripped. I don't know if he realized it at first, so I don't know if he got his sperm inside of me or not, but I'm reallllly paranoid. We've had sex a few times before without a condom but he swears he pulled out before anything happened. I have no idea what to do, I'm really scared. Should I go get an ECP? I'm not sure when I was supposed to get my period but I was expecting it sometime this weekend/week. Any advice you can give me us greatly appreciated.. Please help? :/..

Get an ECP. It is much much better to be safe than to find out that you are pregnant a few weeks later. Also, if a local drug store has a "Morning after" pill, use that. Get a pregnancy test, and check. If it comes out positive 2 out of 3 times (You should do it at least 3 times), then you should see a doctor. Then if you are pro-choice, get an abortion. A child is something you do not want on your life.

No. The bumps in the ride have too much potential to cause damage to the child, or even cause an unwanted abortion... Too much risk for too little reward.

Q: I have a project for my French class and I need to give a presentation on how to become a professional advice columnist for the newspaper or a magazine.
-What type of education do you need?
-What is the average salary? and how much money would be made in the 1st,10th and 20th year?

To be an advice columnist, you need the same qualifications as a journalist, as far as I know. Look for it, and it would probably give good insights. I believe the site is www.careercruising.com, but I may be wrong...

Q: hi steven. first off, i wanna apologize for having a long question but i dont care at all how long your answer is as long as you try to give your best advice. 13/f
towards the end of march, three of my good friends ditched me because we got in a very, very, very unnecessary fight and i havent been able to trust anyone or tell anyone how i truly feel to any of my friends since because i dont know who any of my real friends are.
i have had this guyfriend since the beginning of the year and he just thinks just like me and understands me very well. i thought that he was the only person that i could actually trust more than any of my friends that are girls. he would always talk (and flirt?) with one of my "friends" who has a similar name to mine and people confuse us constantly.
i got my friend to ask him who his best girl friend was and he said that she was! i was completely surprised, shocked, upset, angry at both him, my friend, and mostly myself. i felt like i just lost another friend when he said that.
another advicenator told me that perhaps he just said that so he wouldnt make her feel bad, but i dont really know. i am still really mad at him.
i've also been acting really bitchy to him this past week because he kept talking more and more to her than to me and she would flirt with him constantly. it would just make me so angry inside 'cause he was such a good friend.
should i...
a.) just forget about it and go about the rest of the schoolyear acting like nothing happened
b.) forgive him for being a bitch this week and still be friends...
c.) keep my space so i wont continue being a bitch and wont get hurt either
d.) do something else that you suggest?
thank you so much ♥

Sorry for not getting to this yet, I've been busy this weekend...
I definately advise forgive and forget. It will take stress off both of you, and it will also create the potential for a much better relationship. If he likes her more, or if he has a thing for her, I just say let it happen. If you try to intrude on anything, he will hate you, and probably forever. You do not want that to happen.

Q: Okay, once I was looking at some questions, and I came across this girl who had this problem. Though after she was done explaining her problem she gave a list of ways that she would like the question to be answered. The most non secencial one was when she said, "For all you people who TlaK lyk DIs" Don't bother answering. That just pissed me off because if you REALLY need help, then you wouldn't care how people answered your question, as long as it gets answered in the first place. My question is: If people list ways to answer their question, then how are we suppose to answer it honestlly if we can't fully express our feelings due to their moranic limitations?

It tends to be that either people don't want to hear what they already know (When people say "Don't tell me to..."), there is something in there which is triggering to them to hear about (Like, don't mention the act of throwing up...), or they don't want to decipher the anwswer because they need help that fast.
I personally tend to do what they want, because I disclaim on my profile that I'll help you how you ask to be helped... But, generally just mark them down and answer it however you feel like. If they give you a one or a two becuase of it, just file an abuse report or delete you answer.
They're annoying, but they are inevitable, unfortunately...

Q: Ever since I was 14, I could read people's minds. It scared me at first, and it still sort of does because I don't know much about it.
Sometimes it happens randomly. I'll be thinking of something and suddenly I start to think something completely different that I can't control. This has happened with my siblings and parents before, and I've been able to tell them exactly what they were thinking/feeling.
My family is thinking about sending me to a doctor (I know this because they think about it alot). But there's nothing wrong with me.
Is this mind-reading thing normal? How do I tell my parents to not send me away? =(

There are times when I just "know" things, and it is sort of abnormal. Like, I knew my grandmother was going to die this year, and I knew that every lie I ever told was going to turn true in some way or another. So, you aren't alone... ish.
I think the best way to not be sent away is to stop telling your parents that you can read other people's minds. They are definately a bit afraid of that, naturally, so just a little hiding of the turht would be a benefit in this case. Keep it as your hidden gift. :)

Q: ok- so my friends birthday is tomorrow, and i have no idea what to get her. is there anything that you can get a teenage girl that works for all types/personalities? if it helps she is sporty and not preppy

I would suggest getting her a gift card to Kohls. They have non-preppy and preppy clothes in there, and they generally will have what any girl needs in there. If that doesn't work, chocolate always does. :)

I'm unsure if you are male or female, but it's generally the same procedure. Believe it or not, scissors work REALLY well in these kinds of cases, as I've heard. You want to cut it down until it is just a few fractions of an inch, and then shave. That part is typically semi-painful, but not completely. It depends on how far down you go with the scissors. An electric razer is suggested because it is not as close of a shave, so it'll hurt less. Then, go down to a regular razer and do what you need.
Though I've heard that once you shave, you will need to continue shaving about daily or near to it because aftewards, it tends to get itchy or painful with the short stubbles of hair which move to poke your skin.

Q: is fingering or sticking things up there bad for you? does it affect your health in any way at all?

Generally, it is actually healthy for you. I mean, if you stick a razer blade up, it will be unhealthy, but studies have show masturbation to be a health benefit, since it relaxes you physically and it is also a mental stress reliever. The only negative effect would be if you stuck something which tore the inside of the lining.

Q: Im 13/f
I eat alot of chocolate and my mum thinks im addicted to to it, i do too, i always feel like chocolate and a bar is never enough.
I eat a chocolate bar every day and a sweet cereal bar too. some days i'll even have two choccie bars.
I'm worried that if i carry on i might get diabetes, i want to stop eating so much, but how?
How can i make myself motivated and resist chocolate?
You are probably psychologically addicted to it. I don't know if you are physically addicted to it. If you find yourself drinking a lot of soda (Sprite and Root Beer don't count), you probably are. Can't diagnose it, but I can tell you how to treat it.
What your need to do is first hide any sort of chocolate from yourself, in a hard to get place. Like, try a drawer or a cabinet. Then, you need to restrain yourself for a day. You probably do it at the same time every day, so that's when you occupy yourself with something else (I.E. read or write). Get through the first day, and then if you start feeling sick, that's the surefire symptom that you are addicted to it. You then need to get out of the house for the entire day (So do this on a weekend...). The 2nd day is worse than the 1st, and the 3rd is definately the worst of all. If you relapse, then start over. You'll get 3 days soon enough. Then you go for more.
You need to stop completely, though. There is no such thing as "Less", unfortunately.
If you need motivation, you can make it by picturing yourself in 20 years, 30 years, etc. Just think of what it would be like to have some years off of your life due to clogged arteries (Not to scare you, but that IS a motivation). Or, just reward yourself with something else. Like clothing for a few days without chocolate. :)

Q: me and my best friend are ALWAYS fighting or arguing over something. and its always so stupid. we have really strong opinons, so we kind of clash...so basically, why do you think that BEST friends would be fighting so much? over the dumbest things?!
(5's for anything thanks)

A difference in opinions will often lead to clashes. And that is why you generally disagree with your best friend. By arguing, you are talking and socialising with them, thus making them your friend. But, you also realise what they are like when you do not fight with them, and that also improves their status in your mind. You really never have a true friendship until you get into a fight. :)
Just be careful. After a fight, let the other person know that you still love them, and other positive stuff. Apologize, be friendly, and you'll do fine.

Generally, fast food places are the best place to try... Most wait until you are 16 to really start hiring. I am not positive, but I THINK a few clothing stores may also hire you part time...

THE PENGUIN RULES ALL! AHAHAHAHAHAHA! *Cough*
Hello! My name is Steven, and I am a mentor. Yes, that does mean that I help other people. I have helped over 1000 people to date, and have helped some individuals for over 1/2 a year. The miracle of my life occurred 17 years ago. I say miracle only because 1/4 babies survive to be born.
I am the first born of 2 children, and I am also the black sheep. I listen to Classical Music, so you can call me a weirdo. :P. I have Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, so take no offense if my answers never seem to end.
In school, I get As and Bs. More Bs really. I play trombone, and was the section leader of the trombones at my school. This year, I am the captain of the entire brass section. I am an Eagle Scout, so I guess that says I'm persistant? You make the call. I am a 3 time varsity letter winner, looking for a 4th next winter. I also participate in the musical, where I am a Bass 2. :)
I am straight, and have never had a relationship beyond a friend. However, I have survived the bumps in the road, and can advise you if you wish it. Though, it's not my strength.
I'm here for you, and only you. That means that my advise will not always confort you. Heck, it may even scare you. Yet, I want you to do what is best for your mind. Not what is typically seen as best for you, but what YOU see best for YOU. Heck, if you wanted what was seen as best for you, you would've asked your parents what you should do. They give you what's typically best.
Alright, before I start getting tendinitis from writing that over and over again, I'll just say what I mean. I mean that if you ask me about something, let's say walking 10 miles a day, and I think it's rediculous, yet you are asking for something to do, I am NOT going to say "10 miles is the type of a thing a anorexia athletica would do. Try 5." I'll give you something to do.
Oh, and I'm a L1 moderator, which means I rate questions.
Don't hesitate to IM me, I'm usually on. If I'm not, just drop one in the Inbox!
Oh, by the way, I am liberal in everything. That means that abortion is a woman's RIGHT, and gay marriage should be LEGAL.
Ask away!
