okay this is particularly aimed at blacks but the white community is welcome for their imput.We were just talking about assimilation in the black community and assimilation is making oneself like a nother race.Our teacher feels that perming hair and other things we do in the black community is taking away from what we really are.He believes that we make ourselves like european culture because that's what we feel is beatiful.Now if a women with an afro came into a predominatly black school- she would be teased,right?So basically i am asking what do we as a race find beautiful?IS it permed hair or natural hair?whatever! what is beautiful in our eyes? I dont know if your teacher is white or black, but honestly everything about us is beautiful. Our natural hair is great, its pretty, thick, but its HARD TO MANAGE! if we had to wake up every morning to style an afro or weave our hair we wouldnt sleep enough. Perms are nice, easier to manage, pretty, convinient, but it damages your hair and if you want it natural again it takes a long time, especially if your hair doesnt grow well, which that is the case with many plack people, like myself. Braiding is nice, traditional, pretty, and convinient after you leave the salon, yet its time consuming to braid in the first place, and they last forever which is a great thing, unless you get bored easily. dreadlocks are traditional, pretty and convinent, but you must love them for a long time to get them, and must be patient geting them dreaded in the first place. our hair styles are diverse and completely ours. When a black and a white person do their hair the same way,look at it well and it really is not the same at all. Thats for hair at least.I could go on about other things natural eye color and contacts, black people going blonde, clothing style and body types. I can even go into white people trying to have african american features like big lips and collagen injections, tanning, ear piercings, v neck shirts to create longer necklines, things like that forever. OK me again?i like argue with people over the "N" word.especially african american men.They feel the word is alright and i feel it sn't because of it's history.I feel the word should be erased completely because it holds us back.I don't think there should be any double standard on the word becaus it's worng for a white man as well as a black man to use it.So I just want us to understand things on a higher level.So all i am asking is your opinion. I completely dissagre with you, seeing that I'm black, but I'm a female. White people called us that a long time ago in an offensive way. Black people call each other that in a friendly way. Now if a white person called a black person the word *I doubt I should say it it's not website appropriate* it's not friendly, because they aren't one, it's just a stupid way of making them seem cool, and black people would look at them as wiggers. It's also awkward, since if they call a person that, they'll think "what do they mean when they say that?" and they'll usually mean it in a friendly way, untill an argument comes along and they'll rethink their intentions, especially if the word comes up in an argument. It simply doesnt work if a white person says the word. If too black people fought and said the word, it doesnt mean a thing. No controversy, its all good. I say white people dont say it, black people say it as much as you want. Dont get me wrong I respect your opinion. Theres a few words that I wouldn't say to white people that they sometimes use amongst themselves, it's not nearly as controversial as the n word of course. But hey, if you want to erase it, start with yourself and all your friends NOW, while your young, and maybe by the end of your lifetime the word will become erased. heck even without you doing so the word may just get lame, like words like groovy and far out and jive turkey.

tell them you were raped, because even though you were happy doing it, hes an adult and your a minor, so its rape. its illegal in america for an adult to sleep with a kid even if they both consent. tell them that you were scared to tell them and now your pregnant. be positive that your pregnant though. tell them who the guy is, he'll get arrested or in some major trouble with the law, then talk to your parents and consider what to do with the baby.

Your period may be on the way. my boobs hurt when im about to get my period. sometimes they can hurt during your period, and a few days after but most times they hurt before your period. They may grow a lot more in a short period, and thats why they hurt. i doubt your pregnant, but pregnancy can make them hurt too

It depends on how the date went. If the date was borring, there wasnt much to talk about and no chemistry is there, dont kiss. If he looks like he wants a kiss, like hes close to you, leaning in, give him a hug and a peck on the cheek. If the date was great kiss him if he looks like he wants to. Otherwise he should kiss you first in most cases.

mk, this girl who is my best friend and has been since 3rd grade is the biggest hypocrite who has even been born on this earth.
for example, she said she hated when people go, "umm okayy?" or, "okay..." and then she does it. she said she hated the word drama and she uses it. she said she hated this girl, amanda, (who is supposedly her best friend) and then she suddenly loves her when she feels like it. she said she hated this girl, nicole, & then she acts like they are really good friends. she said she hated ae, a&f, & hco .. then she goes out and buys 30473982423 things from those places.

Sadly you cant MAKE her stop, but since you guys have been best friends for a while, you can influence her to tell the truth by pointing out wen shes contradicting herself. Like if you see her talking to nicole be like i thought you hated nicole, then she'll probably come up with some lame excuse, and just her appearance will give away shes lying, so dont believe wut she says, and make some kind of gesture that hints at the fact you know shes lying, like saying mmmhmm without really paying attention to what she has said, and switching the subject abruptly. If this doesnt give her the hint, avoid her a bit. Now if you cant do this, dont pay much attention to what she says, look away respond with one word answers, things like that. Your behavior, body language, should give her clear hints that you dont really believe or care about what she says, then she'll shuttup. I know this, a good friend of mine did this all the time and now shes almost completely stopped

the overall style of the other schools you visit are interested in your type, and the school you go to isnt as interested. If this doesnt make much sence lemme give you an example. Prep is the style. If your a preppy guy your bound to be loved. Go to the school 10 minutes away and the cool thing is skater, so if if you came from my school to that skool you wont be as loved. In weird occasions you'll be hot at your school and hotter at another school. Its just what most girls from the particular schools you go to is in you, and what the girls are looking for at your school, isnt in you

Hi! well i have a probem and i dont know what to do, i like this guy know for a really long time and i think he likes me back because he smiles down the hallway, lookes for me and snd when he finds me he smiles he sometimes goes down the same hallways as me and his frinds somwtime push him next to me and he is all cheking me out and staring at me my friends have seen him. Do you have any classes with him? Do you have the same lunch shift? If so, find a seat as close to him as possible, and ask him questions, borrow his stuff, and flirt with him through class. If you have the same lunch shift, find a table, or a seat and your regular table that you can veiw him, see when he gets up and go where hes going. Talk to him in line. If you can't do any of these, smile back in the hallways. If you have dances,during a fast song, get near him and look him in the eye, and start dancing with him. For a slow song, be around him, if he doesnt ask, or he sits down, ask him. No dances, get your friends and his friends to talk, and if they both have an understanding-you like him and he likes you, they'll definetly tell your crush, and he should step up. If he doesn't talk to him whenever you see him, or slip him a note in the hallway saying anything you want him to know. Some ideas are

how do you dance at a schoool dance? im in 7th grade and its nothing fancy--u can wear sweats or jeans and a T or something. and they play normal rap or hip hop and stuff like that. there arent any slow songs. but when ever i try just dancing i feel like everyones staring at me even though no one is. lol (link)

Just have fun! Dance the way you normally do, on beat. some people are looking at you, but its good, especially when you look good, which im sure you do. Some haters may look and gossip for no reason but just hang out with your friends and dance and laugh and you'll have a great time. Just dont think or worry about a thing.

Well, theres this guy at school, and he's a total geek. He flirts so much with everyone though, and I think I like him. It's so weird! How do I tell if I like him... And how do I tell him I like him? He has all these friends that are girls, and they're really good. I'm in a three-some with him and another girl, and we pass notes in history, but when I came back from my grandma's funeral, they all changed. Embarrasing secret but SO AM I! Lol imma tell you this, my hair goes from the bottom of my bellybutton to my vagina, to my inner thighs really badly, I have long sideburns naturally, both big toes are hairy, my 4 fingers have fuzz,and my back is hairy too. I also have noticable dark arm hair. Everyone has their ugly features i hide them well im not ugly. thank God I dont have a unibrow. my mom and grandma have minor beards tho..

its completely healthy. your follicles are getting tons of healthy blood to help your hair grow, which means your a healthy teenager. People get waxes, or they shave it. Depends on what they like or what the guy likes, usually they're just happy to get some they dont even care if its funky. All im aware of is that no girls in my house shave it off or wax, it gets itchy when it grows back in.

You need to talk to your friend to see if agrees with what you say about him. Yes you guys are bffs, but this boy is probably very nice to her, so she may find it hard to believe hes not all that. If she agrees with most of it, try to get her to talk her bf into being nicer to you. If this fails talk to her bf and be like why do you hate me so much? Go on from there. Then make sure that he'll treat your bff well, so you all can be happy together. He may have senced that you dont like him and got defensive and backed off, after all you wouldnt pay much attention to a person who doesn't like you if your around them. Just dont try to talk your best friend into breaking up with him unless she finds good proof hes not right

You guys are great friends in his head, so he obviously wants you to stay around for support. Im not positive, but to him you may be the friend he'll go to for advice, even about marital issues, so when you talk to him about how you feel for him, you have to make sure you say something along the lines of "even though our relationship hasnt been the way i've wanted it to be, im still here for u, as a friend" and mention something on how ur emotions will never get too out of wack that i'll think of sabatoging your marraige in any way. That way both of you can have full understanding of eachother. It may also be a good idea to be friendly with his wife, if you dont want to be friends with his wife. Depends on how long the sentence is, and seeing as the court made a mistake in who to lock up, this crime must not be that bad, meaning the sentence isnt that long, so you should wait for him.

Depends on how old you are. Adults shoud have 5-7, 8 on a good day, and teenagers and kids should have 8 minimum, 7 on a bad day. Earplugs and eye covers should help. Now it wouldnt seem like they would do much, but thing is when your sleeping, the earplugs muffle the slight noises that may wake you up. They dont completely block them, but they block them enough for peacful sleep. The eye covers will dim any bright light that would disturb you. The eye cover may disturb enough, if you dont like things on your head, but if items around you wont bother you im positive this should work.

I stumbled across this site by accident. I seriously doubt many of you have the qualifications to give real people proper advice. After reading some of your responses to people's inquiries i was quite astonished as to how teenagers find they are able to give quality advice and information to real people in need with such little life experience. If you ask me you are not in a place to give your "personal opinion" when people truly believe you are giving them the right answer simply because you claim "people think i give really good advice". (eg. i am still at a loss as to how a 17 year old girl thinks she can give advice to someone regarding conceiving a child) I know you try to come across as a "godsend" to poeple who are in some sort of personal crisis and need a fast easy answer but the truth is, in the cases where it really counts, there rarely is one; at least not from you. I'm not a proffessional. Im still a kid. This website anybody could get to, a 5 year old could be giving advice here. The advice we give is what we think will help people, but we dont know what the person on the recieving end is willing to do, or how convinient our advice is to their situation. We just try to give advice like we would to one of our good friends. We dont get much out of it besides satisfaction of really helping somebody when we do. Nobody gets paid here, and if they chose to follow our advice, wonderful, if they dont, they still have the problem and we can still be broke. All is fair here, no secrets. Some people are just good. some 17 year old might know someone with a similar situation..idk but we chose the questions we wanna answe, so we have to know something. Give us a little credit we definetly dont think were all that.

get a few pretty silk scarves and instead of wearing them with skirts or jeans wear it around your head, not hippy style, but to keep your hair out of your face, kinda like a headband, and tye it around the side of your head so it goes to your shoulders. It looks cute. Get a smaller version of one of those and wear a ponytail either really high in the center, or to the sides and use the same idea, like the headband and tie it around the front. there shouldnt be any extra material left. Then wear pajama pants to school. Not nerdy ones but like sweatpants that are close to looking like pajama pants. Wear funny socks and buy a north face jacket if you dont have one already. wear huge belts around your waist and wear funny socks that people can see if your wearing those slip on brown shoes..crocs i think. thats wut the preps do in my school.
