Hey, I'm Mara. I love dancing. It's practically my favourite thing to do. I love House, R&B, pretty much everything with a good beat, and Benny Benassi is my hero; that's why my column is a shrine to him. I graduated this year and am now in my first year of college where I'm trying to pick a major. Chances are you'll see some of my Psychology questions floating around somewhere here. I'm also extremely interested in Political Science too because I, like half the people living in Canada, somehow want to change the world. I particularly want to find a cure for poverty, corruption, cancer, AIDS and George Bush because honestly, I think those are the biggest problems we have right now. I have decided that maybe I should take the time to live a little before I start though because I have a good fifty years ahead of me to fix all the issues there are. Currently my life consists of: studying, working, socializing, eating and ocassionaly sleeping. I spent practically all of my high school life being a delinquent and partying to huge extents until I discovered my brain sometime in the middle of my senior year. I still like to have a good time every once in a while but you always need to find that balance (I haven't exactly found it yet but I'm getting close). Unfortunatley, a habit that has stuck with me from school is my obsessive gossiping. I just can't stop and you know, an article in Cosmo says that gossipers are healthier people because they bond over it? Who would have thought? Anyway, I do have my limitations and I don't condone nasty, brutal gossiping and I don't gossip about anything my friends have told me in confidence or something about someone else that they have slipped to me, however, if I find you in a washroom at a random party making out with my bestfriends's boyfriend, a few people are probably going to hear about it. Actually, more than a few people will hear about it because one of my absolute pet peeves is parties where the all the bathrooms are occupied due to sexual activity or... puking activity. Sooooo what else is there to know about me? My favourite thing in the world is shopping and my worst fear is existantialism. I am OCDey in a clinical way so you can ask me questions about that. You can ask me practically anything you want except for dumb questions but I'm not going to answer them in my little column here because it's a huge waste of space when I could be writing about myself (Click 'LookIt' on my menubar for answers to dumb questions so you don't have to embarass yourself asking them and getting bitched out from me). What I can do, is offer you three pieces of truly inspirational advice. Firstly, never live your life by what others want of you, cherish yourself and everyone around you, and never beat yourself down about anything you couldn't have avoided. Secondly, donate at least ten percent of the income you earn in your life to someone who needs it. Lastly, never get into a bulldozer when you're under the influence and start driving it towards a poor freshmen (I am never going to another kegger ever again... ever). Ok, I'll shut up now. You can start asking me stuff, if you haven't hit the back button already.

Well, if you trust him/them, then you should probably forget about it. It may be just friendly banter.
But if it really bugs you, tell your boyfriend that it makes you feel uncomfortable and ask him to stop. Be advised that this might freak him out a bit especially if his intentions were harmless.

My boyfriend was sick previously for a couple of days. One of the nights that he was really sick I happened to be with him. I didn't leave him all night, I was constantly making sure he was okay and if he needed anything. He told me he appreciated this a lot. The downside of me being with him that night is that he got me sick too. So, all day today I've been pretty sick. You could see it in my eyes how horrible I felt. He commented on that a few times throughout the day. I constantly told him I felt pretty bad. He said sorry. Tonight I called, told him I was feeling very sick. He was watching T.V and was kind of ignoring me, so I just told him I'd call him back with an 'I guess' at the end- hinting how I wanted him to stay. He didn't.
It kind of bothers me how I was waiting on him hand and foot and not letting it bother me that I was practically a butler for him for a night, but he couldn't do a simple thing such as stay on the phone and comfort me.
Is this selfish of me to want comfort and attention from him?
No, you're not being selfish. You are right to expect him to help you out in your time of need, especially when you did the same for him.
But here is the little problem that you probably have figured out already (if you haven't, you will soon), guys aren't as smart as we want to think they are.
Guys aren't girls. They're insensitive prats sometimes and unless we -tell- them that they're putting their hand into a boiling pot of water, they'll be thinking it's the cookie jar.
It's just the way that they work. I know it sounds hard to actually go up to him and be like, "Hey, I need you to be here for me right now..." but honestly, it's a lot easier than having it build up inside you. You should be upfront with him. In my experience, guys don't -get- hints. You just need to lay it out for them.

Hi I'm a 27 year old woman but dress like I'm a lot younger. I was wearing a pair of tight track pants that showed off my figure. They were not slutty, but just the style right now and I also wore a black jacket. Anyways these two older men were sitting on a park bench when I walked by, one man said "that's a little tight".
Also two days ago me and my friend who is 33 (but looks 25) were at Tim Hortons having a coffee. We were sitting outside and these old men were sitting behind us. We were not talking to them but they were eavesdropping on our conversation ( which was about men). When we left they jeered at us and said BYE GIRLS.
Why do I always get this reaction from older men? I am not a slut and not a flirt.
A lot of old guys jeer at you because they don't like the way the teenage generation dresses and they say it to you because they think they can get away with it (because if they said that to a teenager, they wouldn't get home in one piece).
They take advantage of the fact that you are more mature than they are and try to use it to make you feel bad about their age as a defense when they are the ones who are crying at home when they realize that they wasted half their life paying off the morgtgage they got on the house thirty years ago.
Next time one of these old desperate perverts make a comment, flip 'em and tell them to go jerk off to Maxim because that's all they have left other than an old fat wife and a truckload of kids who have shut them up in a retirement home because even they can't stand the sight of them.
27 is an age when you should be able to do whatever you want. For god's sake, you're in your 20's, why the hell shouldn't you act like you're young when you -are- young?!

He might be over you or he might be trying to get your attention.
If he totally ignores you and acts normally around you whenever he's with her and you, he is probably over you.
If he totally ignores you and becomes extremely touchy-feely and laughs louder than usual with her when you're around, it's a huge indicator that he is trying to make you jealous.

Hello!
I am a British nanny. I've always wanted to go to America, but I can't afford it. However, I have just thought - how about I worked over there as a nanny?! (I would live-in)
It may sound crazy, but I am looking for a bit of help now. Does anyone know of any kind of nanny or job agencies that would make it safe and reassure both me and the parents that both parties are reliable?
If you are American (and had (a) child/ren), would you hire a British nanny? (Assuming, of course, you were assured of her reliability et cetera)
Also, I would have no clue where to go in America. I want somewhere alive, but not excessively BUSY - not like New York! I live in the middle of three fields of sheep, I don't want too much of a culture shock :P So can anyone recommend a quieter city? Or if not, at least a nice area where I'm not likely to get shot for stepping up the wrong street? Oh, and sorry to sound greedy, but a richer area where I'd be more likely to get a better salary? My pay at the moment is awful and I am trying to save up for a house, laptop and all sorts! :)

I can't help you much here but I would say look in the Hamptons or LA where the loaded live.
People assume that the British are very well-mannered people and would almost always pick a British nanny on top of an American one. And the British are also considered pretty rare and exotic so families would be proud to have you as a part of their household.
Your pay will probably depend on what family you work for and how your education is.

For a class in school, I have to do a debate against someone in front of the whole class. My topic is lowering the drinking age. I am AGAINST it..(con) I need to be able to talk for 2-5 minutes with GOOD facts, statistics, etc..about why I think that the drinking age should NOT be lowered. Then we are going to argue it out til one of us wins! I am doing this debate against my b/f! He is going to argue that it should be lowered. So I need some good facts that are reasons to be AGAINST lowering it! I am also afraid that I am not going to know what to say b/c I will get nervous and embarrassed! please help me out. Ahh this is a hard topic because I am totally for it but...
1. Studies show that alcohol is bad for the growing body.
2. Alcohol is bad for the developing brain (and studies show that the brain doesn't stop developing until you are 25)
3. Teenagers are usually reckless and lowering the drinking age will provide more access to alcohol and will in turn lead to more alcohol poisoning and more teenagers causing harm while DUI.
4. If minors start drinking at a younger age, their chances of becoming dependent on it (being an alcoholic) will increase.
5. People do stupid things when they're drunk and someone who is young may not understand the consequences of what they're doing while under the influence.
6. At the same time, studies link alcohol to depression and right now teens are already in danger of being depressed without alcohol.
7. Teenagers also rule more with emotion rather than rationality and therefore many of them can't control the amount of alcohol they drink.
8. Giving teenagers access to alcohol will skyrocket the number of teens drinking.

1. Make sure to do it in the shower or when your skin is wet.
2. Always use shaving cream or lots of foam soap.
3. Shave in the opposite direction of hair growth.
4 Don't shave the same area more than two times (even if there is any hair left)
5. Use aloe vera or after-shave.
6. Wear cotton panties for a few hours so you get enough air circulation.
P.S. Nair does work. They have different products for face/body/bikini. Look for the right one.

Well, some guys like hairy and some don't go for the plucked chicken look.
I'd say a safe solution is the clam. Shave of most of the hair except a peek of it between your legs where it makes a 'Y' and shave the insides of your legs where the thick hair grows.

Honestly, some guys don't feel the need to have a skinny girl because of the fact that they're skinny. They feel the need to be with these girls because skinny girls from an earlier age have been more confident in themselves because they feel more comfortable with their bodies. They grow up thinking they're awesome, other skinny girls tell them they're awesome and this is how pre-teen princesses are born.
Later on, these girls turn into the popular clique at high school. They eat next to nothing to remain skinny because they have been brought up to see that skinny is 'in' and spend hours taking care to look like Queen Bees.
Now Queen Bees at high school are -always- skinny and -always- the object of lust by the majority of high school boys. The boys like them because of their confidence/popularity and so people mistake that for liking them because of their weight because virtually all popular girls are skinny.
In the real world, things get more complicated. Girls turn into women and boys mature. It is a scientific fact that most guys prefer hippier females (signifies good ovaries and reproductive qualities) and choose an extrovert personality (signifies a good life partner) over looks.
But in situations like these, obese (obese should not be mistaken for overweight) females and males are the losers because their weight signifies bad health and not many members of the human race want to have babies with an unhealthy person.

hey everyone. my formal is on FRIDAY and i have 3 really noticable pimples on my chin! im so freaking out so how how how can i get rid of them quickly?! everynight i use Stridex and i wash my face so any other ideas? pleaase help
Wash your face three times a day for the days leading up to your formal (remember to moisturize after washing, otherwise your skin will dry out)
Use a facial scrub at least once a day (to prevent more breakouts)
Take a little bit of toothpaste are rub it in the pimples in slow small circles until no trace of the toothpick is left. Do this as often as you can.
Also, tone down on your makeup for the next few days. Don't touch concealer/foundation and your face.

I swear by Maybelline. Avon and Covergirl are also pretty good depending on the products you use and you can never go wrong with high-end brands such as MAC.
Personally, this is my regular beauty routine:
1. Wash/Exfoliate and use a pore cleanser every other day
2. Moisturize
3. Apply foundation (use concealer here if needed)
4. Dust loose powder over your face and neck to set in the foundation
5. Apply blush
6. Groom eyebrows (I use hairspray on an eyebrow brush and brush my eyebrows in place)
7. Curl eyelashes, apply eyeshadow, eyeliner and mascarra (in that order)
8. Apply lip gloss/stick
The type of eyeliner depends on what you're using it for. I always prefer pencil eyeliner for my inner eye and I use liquid eyeliner if I'm doing the top and want dramatic eyes (I stay away from liquid eyeliner during the day, it's too intense).

How can I make holes in my jeans? With straight lines and all? Scissors dont seem to work..
First, wash the jeans with fabric softener.
Then use a steak knife (or a knife with a serrated edge) to form vertical slits around the areas where the jeans would be used most (knees, thighs et cetera) Make a few horizontal cuts and take out some of the pieces of the jeans.
For a nice effect, use sandpaper and distress them around the knees and pockets.

OK heres the thing. I just found out the I'm pregnant yesterday. But I cheated on my boyfriend the begining of this month. The first day of my last period was Sept. 14th. Now according to when doctors say that females ovulate does anyone think its possible for me to be pregnant by the other man with whom I had sex with on the 6th and the 13th. Now i know i didnt't get pregnant on the 13th because it wouldnt have shown up on the test i took on the 21st. Now on the 6th me and the other man had sex but he didnt cum in me. So is it possible that his pre-cum got me pregnant? And if so than was it possible to get pregnant on the 6th if my period sterted 23 days from the 6th.

It's practically impossible to tell because the male sperm can stay inside the female body for more than ten days so you could have been impregnated by either of the men.
I would say go see a Planned Parenthood clinic and ask about alternative tests you can take to tell, if any are available.
