I am 48 years old (yes that's old compared to some of you).
I have worked in nursing and/or healthcare management positions for 24 years. Primarily OB, Neonatal, Mental Health, Occupational Health and Geriatrics. In Jan 2008 I started my own business to board horses and do equine/human education. I am also a certified dog trainer.
I've been around the block so to speak and seem to be always helping others. I've been told that the reason people seek me out for advice is that I am approachable and caring. But on the same token even though I consider the person's feelings. I tell it like I see it. I've dealt with people in trouble with the law, dysfunctional families such as those with abuse & marriage problems. Not to mention problems with employees and employers.
I don't ever claim to know it all, and always keep an open mind.

Our dog who is 8 months has had enlarged nipples now for a few weeks. She got out three four weeks ago and dissapeared for a few days. We found her and have had her at home ever since but is there a chance she is pregnant? It is unusual for a puppy to have such large nipples.
Yes, it is unusual for a female non pregnant dog to have enlarged nipples. A vet can do an x-ray to determine if she is pregnant. An 8 Month old is awful young for a litter of pups, but it happens!
We have a female dog that had false pregnancies--and eventually we found out she had a uterine infection, but this didn't start until she was 4-5 years old.
Hi everyone... ok I'm going to make this short. Basically, I am very paranoid and even though I am 20 I don't want to become pregnant. The thing is, every time I have sex with my bf, we use a condom because I am not on birth control, but I am always paranoid and thinking that the condom will break. My question is, if the condom breaks, will either one of us be able to tell? Like will it snap off and have a big hole in it? Or is it possible that just a tiny little invisible hole can break in it and neither one of us will be able to notice? Thanks!
It is true that the condom could have a very tiny hole in it and you'd never know. It could get there from the way it was put on, or be a factory defect. No, he'd never be able to "feel" that. If you don't want to take the pill use condoms with another method, like spermicide for a back up (make sure whatever you will be safe with the condom) At one time I know that there were certain things that could not be used together because it would degrade the quality of the latex.
SO in ethics class last week we learnt that statutory rape is basically when someone has forced sex with a minor (under 16) and it could apply when 2 minors involve themselves, etc, etc. We also learnt that you will immediately go to jail until the trial.
My question is:
When a girl gets pregnant and she had sex but she's say 13 or 14, do they just deliever the baby? I see girls like 15 and 14 with babies and I'm wondering...don't the doctors of nurses ask them questions....cause that's statutory rape right, so can the mother be jailed or the dad? ...does anyone know if this happens or they just deliever the baby no questions?
In this day and age the Dr's and nurses would probably ask questions to make sure the girl wasn't raped or molested. 13-14 is awful young to be having a baby, and obviously the health care provider is going to be as concerned about the girl's health--as he/she is the baby's health. If the Dr or nurse suspects that the pregnancy was the result of an illegal act it would be their moral and legal obligation to report it to the authorities. If the girl avoids telling about the father, this would raise enough suspecion that the Dr or nurse could involve social services to talk to the girl. No one can force the pregnant girl to tell...but it looks bad if she doesn't. The pregnant Mother cannot be jailed, but the dad can be if he raped her or was over a certain age.
My boyfriend been asking me to do Oral for a while now and I finally started doing it. But he holds my head and make me choke and he even get on top of me and put it in my mouth. Doesn't sound like you are enjoying yourself...so in that case no it is not normal. Either quit doing it, or tell him that you don't like it. Make sure he respects your feelings or you are in for a world of hurt in other areas of your life.
Okay, once I was looking at some questions, and I came across this girl who had this problem. Though after she was done explaining her problem she gave a list of ways that she would like the question to be answered. The most non secencial one was when she said, "For all you people who TlaK lyk DIs" Don't bother answering. That just pissed me off because if you REALLY need help, then you wouldn't care how people answered your question, as long as it gets answered in the first place. My question is: If people list ways to answer their question, then how are we suppose to answer it honestlly if we can't fully express our feelings due to their moranic limitations?
Some people don't want to hear the truth, I call this denial. An answer is an opinion, they can take it or leave it, but they shouldn't leave bad feed back for an opinion. So my advice would be answer the question the way you feel it should be answered, and don't worry about their limitations.

I know that it seems like it is important to be popular, but later on in life all these Jr. High games won't really matter. The most important thing is to be yourself. People should like you for who you are and not someone you pretend to be. If you are comfortable with who you are, you will gain more attention than if you try to be a fake and be someone else. Join some activities and get to know people who like the same things you like. In no time at all you will make friends, and it doesn't matter if they are in the popular crowd or not.

Ok so here is my story. So I talked to my mom about this guy I liked at school and if it would be ok for us to date. My mom said she would talk to my dad and she told me he seemed ok with it. So then the next weekend I asked my mom about me going to a movie with this guy and some friends(like a group date) and she talked to my dad and she said he said"I dont know i'll be more inclined to let her do this when she is 15" My mom said we should all sit down and have a talk. I think that you don't believe you are "deserving". Perhaps it is an issue due to self esteem or self confidence. From now on, stand up for what you want and "go for it".

Has your granny always been this way? There is a reason to be concerned if she hasn't been. A change in mental status, and doing things such as you described can be symptoms of a physical disorder.
Something else too...she is losing her independence, and this is about control more than it is about the way the clothes are folded, the bed is made or how much anyone weighs. Granny feels powerless over the awful effects of aging and is taking it out on your family. Ignore it, at this point she won't change and it's not your fault, or hers either..it just happens.

i got into a figth with this girl and it got bad, but girls are catty. she tried to ruin my reputation, but i ruined her life =] i got her kicked off of class vice president and her friends hate her. but to be fair, she really deserved it im not kidding. she posted pictures of me that were like edited and crap to make it look like i was naked, like photocopying my head onto the pic or w/e. and posted it on alot of the lockers. idk why she did it, shes just jealous b/c im dating her ex bf. seems to me like SHES the sociopath not me...
so after this i got in trouble, the school sent me to a therapist to talk about why i act the way i do. he diagnosed me a sociopath. But um... sociopaths are psycho anti-socials and im the center of attention. Im not a freak, i love shopping and guys and they say just b/c im a little decieving and like it my way, makes me a sociopath???
can somebody please explain to me how a popular varsity cheerleader can be a sociopath because i am way not antisocial.

I hate to say it, but since you receieve a diagnosis from a professional no one here should dispute that. If you are not comfortable with the opinion of this therapist you have a right to seek a second opinion.
Don't confuse antisocial with unsociable, in the mental health sense they would be two entirely different things.
I would like to add that most sociopaths..would never believe that they are one. However, there are probably many people that are a sociopath, but have good control over their lives..so it doesn't make you someone that will turn into a serial killer or anything like that! Not everyone fits the textbook image of the diagnosis they receieve.
i have had stomache aches and like my ribs ache for a few weeks now so i went to the doctor is just like "its physcosomatic" that means that you are like mentally saying to yourself that your stomache hurts or something but it really doesnt you are just thinking that. he said i am that but my stomache really does hurt (and ribs) not so badly, but like you can tell it hurts! what is causing me to feel like this???
My advice would be to get a second opinion, and not in the same office as the Dr that you just visited. No one on here can provide you with an answer. They can guess, relate their own experiences and assume many things..but in the medical world we all know what assume stands for.
Abdominal pain is a symptom of so many things, it would not be fair to lead you in the wrong direction and prevent you from getting the right care.

today i let the dog out to chain it up and it ran out of my yard and down the street and i tried to catch it but before i could it ran out in the street and it got hit, and hes hurt and i don't think hes going to make it. I know you feel bad, I have had that same thing happen before and I felt terrible too..for years afterwards. Dogs will be dogs, and we try to force them to live in a human society, but their natural instinct is to run. If you would have caught the dog in the street, you could have been hit by a car too. It's not your fault, it happens..they get sick, they get injured. It was an accident not neglect, that's different. So just say a little prayer and think positive, but most of all it won't help to blame yourself.
I work with this really great girl that I didn't initially have feelings for, but as I've come to know her, I can't stop thinking about her. I'm not good at picking up girl's signals, but it looks to me like she flirts with me a lot. Laughs at my jokes, smiles a lot, I'll catch her staring every now and again, but I've misread these signals before.
Plus she's got this boyfriend who's kind of clingy, emotional, neurotic and all this. They've been going out for awhile and live together, but they won't anymore starting this fall. He'll be in another city and she has said that they don't have near the chemistry they did earlier(I guess that can be said for everyone though) and that she hadn't broken up with him yet because of the way he might take it.

It sounds like she might be in a situation where she doesn't exactly know what to do at this time either, but if she has told you about the change in chemistry and the move..I'd take that as a positive sign. I think she is dropping hints. You are right about the timing though, and you wouldn't want to be a rebounder anyway. Continue to show interest in her day to day activities in a non romantic, but friendly manner. Give it a little more time, and ask her to a simple lunch.

Climaxing has little to do with pregnancy, so if you did or did not, it doesn't matter, yes you could still get or be pregnant. My advice to you, take a pregnancy test, and read up on sex ed.

Not everyone's depression is the same, or caused by the same factors. That's why a physician should prescribe this medication. There is nothing over the counter that will help you, and I would avoid the herbal remedies unless you have an okay from your Dr.
I was invited to a large party that takes place this weekend. I said that I'd go, because of the occasion and the person who is throwing it, but I really do not want to stay for a long time. First of all, I am not much of a party person. I usually just sit there by myself while being bored out of my mind. Second of all, I'm not much of a people person. There are going to be a LOT of people there. I really don't want to have to be around that many people for too long, especially since I hate most of them. Normally I leave parties with the excuse of not feeling well or something like that, but certain people (although not everyone) are starting to catch on. I need some good excuses to leave a party that do not involve being sick.

The odor is caused by bacteria. If you use antibacterial soap a couple of times a day, and apply baby powder that contains baking soda that might work. Deodorant/Antipersperant is actually the best.
