Our dog who is 8 months has had enlarged nipples now for a few weeks. She got out three four weeks ago and dissapeared for a few days. We found her and have had her at home ever since but is there a chance she is pregnant? It is unusual for a puppy to have such large nipples.

Getting your dog fixed will not only save you the trouble of finding a home for the many puppies to come, but it will save your dog from many many health problems as she gets older. [ selectopaque's advice column | Ask selectopaque A Question ]

We have a female dog that had false pregnancies--and eventually we found out she had a uterine infection, but this didn't start until she was 4-5 years old. [ Nallie's advice column | Ask Nallie A Question ]

The best thing you can do is to take her to the vet and get her checked out. They will be able to feel around her stomach and do various tests to work out what it is. If you explain the symptoms over the phone to the vet, they may be able to tell you over the phone. [ Vikki27's advice column | Ask Vikki27 A Question ]
