I am 48 years old (yes that's old compared to some of you).

I have worked in nursing and/or healthcare management positions for 24 years. Primarily OB, Neonatal, Mental Health, Occupational Health and Geriatrics. In Jan 2008 I started my own business to board horses and do equine/human education. I am also a certified dog trainer.

I've been around the block so to speak and seem to be always helping others. I've been told that the reason people seek me out for advice is that I am approachable and caring. But on the same token even though I consider the person's feelings. I tell it like I see it. I've dealt with people in trouble with the law, dysfunctional families such as those with abuse & marriage problems. Not to mention problems with employees and employers.

I don't ever claim to know it all, and always keep an open mind.

hiii! me and this girl like just became good friends ..well i knew her but we just started hangin out alot a little bit ago i mean she is one of my best friends and she is awesome! she is also very gorgeous..and im very jealous of her..because everytime we like go on the computer or something about a million guys will all i/m her and be like hey beautiful and they all wanna hang out with her and stuff and i dont talk to like any guys!! i wish i did.but im so shy and she like only talks to guys. i mean when we go places all the guys only look at her..and they're always like oh my gosh you looked so hott..they say that to her and i just feel so low about myself when im around her!! because i know everyone thinks she is so pretty..but they dont tell me that and i know im not the best lookin ..and i cant just not be friends with her because of this..i mean i love being around her she just like lows my self-esteem down i dont know what to do!? ..i mean i bet a guy tells her she is beautiful like everyday..i dont think ive ever heard someone say it to me? i just have no clue what to do..im lost..so can you please help me!?

I think it would be tough having a friend like that. But then again, if you like her and want to be friends with her try not to worry about what the guys think or how they act. One day, one will come along that likes you better, trust me on this one. It will happen.

She may be a flirt or like we used to say a (teaser)--and while guys act like they like that initially, they don't like it in a long term relationship.

For now, focus on things you like to do and first and foremost be yourself--and smile when you feel like crying! You'll be surprised what good luck smiles can bring.

i'm a junior and guy. my friends usually like to have parties or get togethers, and i usually can't go because something comes up or i have other plans. with this group of friends, they are good guys, generally stay out of trouble, but the one day i couldn't go, i decided not to because i had to work on a project. the next day i heard one of the guys was rushed into a hospital because he was drinking too much. i dont like drinking, never have, and would like not to. so if they do invite me to a get together, should i just decline? i don't want to be left out of the loop, but personally i don't like drinking, don't really mind if others do though. what should i do...avoid it completely? will rate

You sound like a very smart guy! First of all, you may already know this, but if your friends are drinking and you are with them you could get in trouble with the law just as easily as them.

If the friends give you a bad time for not joining their parties that's their problem, not yours. Don't give in to peer pressure, dare to be 'right'.

When I was in HS I had a friend that said he was allergic to alcohol--he said that he drank a beer at home and broke out in hives. He later told me this wasn't true, but he had to come up with an easy excuse not to drink.

Here's some lines you can use to get out of it:

"I just don't like to drink--I am a control freak and don't want to take a chance at losing control."

"You guys go ahead, do what you want--hey I won't judge you for drinking, if you don't judge me for not drinking".

"I have alcoholism in my family--and I know I have a high chance of becoming addicted."

"Let me know when your going to go somewhere or do something that doesn't involve drinking."

Okay .... well a while ago i cut myself on the top of my wrist and now i have thid huge scar on my wrist.. what can i do to get rid of this scar?!?!?! Give me the BEST one you have that i can buy at like CVS becayuse i will have to get the stuff on my own

If the scar is raised you may have what is called a 'Keloid'. Anyway, the best treatment to make the scar flatter and less noticable is to buy a gel type pad (made for scars) and wear it over the scar for as long as the directions tell you. Also, if you must be in the sun, be sure to wear sun screen on the scar.

when you are pregnant, how soon will you feel the stomach cramps? and what part of the stomach do you feel them in? Thanks so much for you help.

Actually the first answer is more correct--than the one from the person who said it was 'crap'.

Let me clarify:

If someone is pregnant, obviously they won't have pain when ovulating. So forget about that answer.

False labor or (braxton hicks) contractions are not normally noticeable until the last two months of pregnancy. Women who have had one or more pregnancies are more likely to feel braxton hicks.

Any woman who is having "cramping" during pregnancy should see their Dr immediatly. There may be other causes of the pain, such as a bladder infection, intestial problems...etc. But early labor or threatened miscarriage should be ruled out.

Labor can start well before the amniotic sack (or bag of water) has ruptured.

Labor pains are typically felt in the entire lower portion of the abdomen sometimes radiating from or to the lower back.

Uterine cramping during early pregnancy would usually be felt right above the pubic bone--which obviously is not normal.

I recently broke my arm, however, I'm getting very close to when my cast comes of. When it comes off my arm will be very weak and I will have very little muscle. Therefore, I will have to go to physical therapy. Can anyone tell me what it's like? What kind of excerises will I be doing? Also will carrying my school books strain my arm? Thanks.

You should discuss physical therapy with your Dr, it will depend on several things if it is needed or not. If your bone is completely healed, I don't think carrying a book or two will hurt your arm, but then again ask the Dr. A good exercise to start with is to simply pretend like you are writing your ABCs in the air.

I have asthma and all but

why exactly do we use inhalers?

i mean how exactly does it affect us?

There are several types of medicines that can be inhaled for asthma, one is albuteral which is a bronchodialator. When someone with asthma has an attack, the small airways (called bronchioles) construct and are often blocked by mucous. The inhaler dialates the airway therefore opening the passage so you can breath more effectivly.

ok here it goes...everytime i get hit with sumthin, scrach my body on sumthin or even lay in my bed i get huge welts that itch very bad..i went to the doctors and they said it was nothing..i was wondering if anyone whos reading this knows wat it is, and if so how do u cure it.

My guess is you have a skin sensitivity, the best bet is to go to an allergist or a dermatologist to find the root cause and determine treatment.
