Hey, I'm Mara. I love dancing. It's practically my favourite thing to do. I love House, R&B, pretty much everything with a good beat, and Benny Benassi is my hero; that's why my column is a shrine to him. I graduated this year and am now in my first year of college where I'm trying to pick a major. Chances are you'll see some of my Psychology questions floating around somewhere here. I'm also extremely interested in Political Science too because I, like half the people living in Canada, somehow want to change the world. I particularly want to find a cure for poverty, corruption, cancer, AIDS and George Bush because honestly, I think those are the biggest problems we have right now. I have decided that maybe I should take the time to live a little before I start though because I have a good fifty years ahead of me to fix all the issues there are. Currently my life consists of: studying, working, socializing, eating and ocassionaly sleeping. I spent practically all of my high school life being a delinquent and partying to huge extents until I discovered my brain sometime in the middle of my senior year. I still like to have a good time every once in a while but you always need to find that balance (I haven't exactly found it yet but I'm getting close). Unfortunatley, a habit that has stuck with me from school is my obsessive gossiping. I just can't stop and you know, an article in Cosmo says that gossipers are healthier people because they bond over it? Who would have thought? Anyway, I do have my limitations and I don't condone nasty, brutal gossiping and I don't gossip about anything my friends have told me in confidence or something about someone else that they have slipped to me, however, if I find you in a washroom at a random party making out with my bestfriends's boyfriend, a few people are probably going to hear about it. Actually, more than a few people will hear about it because one of my absolute pet peeves is parties where the all the bathrooms are occupied due to sexual activity or... puking activity. Sooooo what else is there to know about me? My favourite thing in the world is shopping and my worst fear is existantialism. I am OCDey in a clinical way so you can ask me questions about that. You can ask me practically anything you want except for dumb questions but I'm not going to answer them in my little column here because it's a huge waste of space when I could be writing about myself (Click 'LookIt' on my menubar for answers to dumb questions so you don't have to embarass yourself asking them and getting bitched out from me). What I can do, is offer you three pieces of truly inspirational advice. Firstly, never live your life by what others want of you, cherish yourself and everyone around you, and never beat yourself down about anything you couldn't have avoided. Secondly, donate at least ten percent of the income you earn in your life to someone who needs it. Lastly, never get into a bulldozer when you're under the influence and start driving it towards a poor freshmen (I am never going to another kegger ever again... ever). Ok, I'll shut up now. You can start asking me stuff, if you haven't hit the back button already.

I went to wal mart and got 2 things of non permanent hair dye.
The one brand is LOREAL Color pulse mousse. I got it in Iced coffee just to see what my hair would look like. I wanted to know if it really DOES wash out. i would hate to have my hair like that for more than a week. lol and i was also wondering if you ever tried it? What was youre experiences

I also go CLAIROL Herbal essences Color flirt mousse. It says it washes out in 8-10 days. And i got black. It also says Sparkling low risk haircolor.I got the color midnight twinkle(black) I was wondering if anyone used this? experiences? yay or nay? lol
My worries are it wont wash out and will damage my hair. Although, they both say NO AMMONIA AND PEROXIDE.

Both are about the same. They use the same ingredients, it's just different companies.
I used the purple colour mousse and it stayed for about two weeks.
My friend with light brown hair used black and it stayed for a month.
I think in your case, it's too risky, I would just use a temporary hair streaking kit or hair mascara. Your hair is too light and the colour might never come out.
By the way, there is a little insert inside the boxes that tell you what colour they recommend according to the shade of you natural colour. It's sucky because it's inside and you can't tell before buying it but usually they want the light blondes to stick with other shades of darker blonde.

im sooo confused
there is this guy that i like and but he has a girlfriend but everytime we hangout i always forget that and sometimes it seems like he does too or something because he always starts flirting like last night he was like punching me in the stomach lightly and like getting close and then he wouldnt give me my phone so i jumped on him and then like he was on the bed and i was sitting on the floor and he got really close and started talking to me =) there are other people there too but i dont know! then i had to leave for a little bit but then i came back and then he started flirting right away again! we say we are "best friends" but we arent really..just friends! anyways he lied to me like jokingly and im like UHHHHH! best friend dont talk to me dont look at me dont associate with me. i was totally joking and im pretty sure he knew because we always joke like that and then i was sitting on the couch and hes on the other one and comes over and pulls me by him and is like come on we have to have a talk and im like nope nope what do you want to talk about? and then he like just got really quiet and i was sitting on the same couch as him and he put a pillow like by his head to block me so he couldnt see me and later i like pull it off and say you suck at trying to be mad at me but then he tried grabbing it back and was like no forreal come on im not playin! and then i was like okay =( then i went and layed on the floor while we all watched tv and i think he fell asleep or something but then when he got up he left without saying anything to me! and he usually does. what is going wrong here i am really sad because i mean later i might ask were you really mad or what happend? because what do you guys think what should i do. everytime i dont see him for a bit i cant stop thinking about him and how i want to see him and now that was the last time i will see him for like a week beause im going on vacation tomorrow! the whole girlfriend deal sucks because he says he loves her but then what about me. i cant help myself!

Looks like you guys have a "thing" going on. He probably likes you too but he's confused on account of him having a girlfriend.
You know what? This vacation may be a good idea. You shouldn't see him until them because he probably just had some sort of an epiphany that day and that's why he was so quiet. Give him some time to mull it over and figure out if he wants to be with his girlfriend or you. You'll also have time to figure out if you really like him and if you want him to break up with his girlfriend or if you think he's better with her.
It looks as if he's on the brink of a break through and he's probably going to talk to you before Fall about it. If he doesn't, you should start nudging him about it. You don't want to totally become obsessed with him when you know you might have no chance at all.

ok so .. my hair is like long and all but i want it longer.. espiecally before school starts which is in sept. and i was wondering if anyone knew any ways to make hair grow faster .. i know straighning doesnt help and all. but like i dont want anything that i'd have to take a pill but if theres aything that can help please let me know and ill rate
Drink lots of milk and take vitamin supplements and stimulate your follicles to grow by rubbing them. Use a good shampoo for fine hair to give it more body and prevent breakage.
If that fails, get some extensions. Personally, I like the temporary ones, they are easy to attach, remove and if you do it right, they'll blend in to your regular hair really nicely. Plus they're temporary so they aren't as expensive and if you get sick of your long hair, you can get rid of them easily.

I'm going to a pretty big movie premiere in Hollywood tonight. I have no idea what I'm supposed to wear. Should I go with a cute cocktail dress? My parents said not to wear jeans. So should I find just a cute stylish skirt? I'm so confused. Please any suggestions would be amazing!
The movie is "John Tucker Must Die".
Usually a dress is appropriate for such an event but don't make it overly formal or too casual.
Also keep in mind that you need to keep up with scene if you show up to something so high-profile.

what is dyslexia? my bro says he had it in like 1st grade or whatever and he had a hard time in school with spelling and whatnot but now can read better. isnt dyslexia when the letters in words get switched around?
Dyslexia is when your brain doesn't comprehend written words the right way. Sometimes the letters are scrambled or placed on top of one another or just mixed up.

Here is a list of newish songs that are good for dancing. I mixed in a few genres. Dance Party mixes are usually freestyle. Take a look at some music videos on MuchMusic or MTV for guidance on how to dance to them. I guess you could look around the internet for some instructions on hip-hop dancing, rave and pop and lock.

um. this may sound strainge, but i am trying to raise a baby mouse that i saved from being fed to my freidns lizzard. as soon as i saw it i fell in love. i'm not sure how to raise it though so, if you could give me adivice? thanks so much!

I would suggest buying it a cage and some wood shavings. Remember to clean the cage every once in a while.
Go to your local pet store and pick up some seed mixes. Ask the sales associate which ones are the best type.
Buy it a toy, maybe a spinning wheel so it can get some exercise without running around on the floor and get stepped on.

All of my clothes I buy stretch so easily. It's because they're all made of like thin fabric. It's not like I need a bigger size it's just that if I'm wearing it for a long time my shirts seem to get baggy and stretch out. Is there a certain detergent(?) I can use to help them go back to there normal tight fitting size? I'll try anything. Thanks!

ooow I have molars growing in behind like, my 3rd molar I think? well they're growing in on both sides on the bottom and they hurt really bad. i thought they were wisdom teeth but my friend said those dont grow in until you're like, 20.(i'm 13)theres like, a flap of gums that i can lift up with my tounge and it hurts. soo first of all, what teeth are these, and is it supposed to hurt bad?
They are your wisdom teeth. Mine started coming up when I was 13 and din't fully grow in until I was 18.

I have to cousins and their parents are seperated. Both of their parents are alcoholics. They live with their mother, who treats them unkindly. One of my cousins, Rachel, she's always upset and crying because of my aunt. My other cousin, Matt, he will argue with my aunt unlike rachel but he ends up angry and upset also. They refuse to admit that my aunt has a problem. Rachel and Matt do EVERYTHING! They washes the dishes, does the laundry, cooks every meal, cleans the windows, vacuums, dusts, and many other things while my aunt, she just sits there drunk, while screaming at them and making fun of them! Rachel is too scared to argue with my aunt about doing these things. Matt argues every now and then but not a lot. He also has always been very pale and thin because he is so upset all the time. They won't talk to anyone about this. They are scared of their own mother! I don't know what I can say to them to help them through this. Does anyone have any ideas of what I can do or say?
They're probably don't want to be put into foster care.
Contact Social Services but before you do that, find a better place for them to live. Maybe they could stay with you while their mom gets treated?
It's a delicate situation. You should discuss it with an adult before you make any moves so they can guide you through the process and help you find numbers for your location.

Does anybody know what I'm talking about? Could you help me out please?

yeah, this might be long, and from my viewpoint its pretty confusing so leave now if you want...
okay, im a sixteen year old male to begin with, and ever since i can remember, ive had five best friends (and i mean BEST, these five people mean more to me than anything else in this world). these five friends consist of four girls and one guy (the guy has nothing to do with this so you can forget him). Well, the problem is that near the end of last year, the girls all started fighting with eachother, even though theyd all been the best of friends since forever. the group ended up split apart, with two girls on one side, two girls on the other, and me and my guy friend stuck in the middle while still being best friends with both sides....so here comes the complicating part...for the whole time i can remember, ive really liked one of my friends (lets call her girl 1). well, girl 1 has always acted like she doesnt want to be more then friends with me. so now one the girls from the other group (girl 2), has told me that she likes me...so i asked her out and weve been going out for a month now. well, ever since i asked out girl 2, girl 1 hasnt spoken to me at all (by the way, the two groups of girls hate eachother a LOT)...so ive been trying to find out why girl 1 hasnt been talking to me...and it turns out that girl 1 really likes me....which sucks because im already going out with girl 2....i want to talk to girl 1 again because i love her to death, but i dont know how to do that...she wont answer her phone when i call, ive sent her emails, text messages, and even stuff through myspace...im about to just go to her house and show up with some flowers or something to show her that i still love her to death, and that the only reason that i didnt choose her is because she acted like she didnt like me....but im afraid that my girlfriend (girl 2) will find out and be mad at me for somewhat obsessing over getting my friend back....what should i do? any help is appreciated...
That's a bad situation.
I would say break it off with girl 2 ASAP because she's the one whose going to end up hurt. If you don't feel the same way about her, just be honest.
And wait a while before you start going out with girl 1 too to spare girl 2's feelings.
By the way, it seems like such a shame that your group broke up. It's a little off topic, but have you tried patching up things between them? Sometimes high school can get intense and you need a third party to look at it.

I am a guy, 32 years, even though people say I look and act 25. On May 9 2006, I met this 21 year old girl when she came for a 10-day workshop in my film school from another university some 3 hours drive from my film school. She is in her 3rd year. She gave me the impression that she liked me, always hanging around me, and I started to give her my time. I really got to like her afterwards. She told me she had no boyfriend, as her previous boyfriend, who was a student in her school had graduated and left the town and wasn’t calling her frequently enough the way she wanted and they tended to drift apart. Time could not permit us to start sleeping together before she returned to her school. She told me she was not good with long distance relationship but we agreed to give it a try. We exchanged phone calls everyday, with me doing most of the calling, but then she beeped (flashed) me very often whenever she wanted me to call. About first week of June she stopped beeping (flashing) me like she used to, even though I continue to call her regularly. I wondered if she wasn’t as enthusiastic about our relationship like before. I’ve visited her once and she promised to visit me in my school but she doesn’t until I graduated from my film school last month and left the town. I once told her that it seems we are not as imitate as before and she says it is because she has doubts that I can handle a long distance relationship. When I promised to play my part right, she promised to play hers too. In the last 9 days, I have been putting up in a town some 45 minutes drive from her school doing some screenwriting and I visited her once. She keeps saying she would come visit me in return but keeps saying she is not sure when, until she told me today that she will not come for reasons best known to her. I still do all the calling, she still doesn’t beep (flash) me always claiming she is broke, even when she is from a rich family. However, whenever we chat she sounds as friendly as ever. I have not slept with her or even kiss her, although I am not eager to, because I truly love her. I wonder if all is well, or if I am wasting me time on her.
It sounds as if she's losing interest but the only way you can find out for sure is if you talk to her about it.
Call her up and tell her you're coming over to visit. Get over there and ask her yourself if you're wasting time with her. Usually, if you're upfront about it, she'll be honest too.

I have gotten so many comments on how big my eyes look. I don't really know if this is a good or bad thing....but i would kinda like ur guy's opinion. Also, Is it because i wear eyeliner??? will that make it look bigger? some people say it makes their eyes look smaller...but i dunno. I use a dark brown eyeliner and i only do the bottom...not the top. (i have fair skin too)
Rim the bottom with a really dark black eyeliner.

Hey i have my first interview in the next couple days, and im really nervous. I have no idea what to say or what questions they're going to ask. Since this is my first job do you think that i'll get hired? Because i have little work experience? Any piece of advice would be very helpful!!! thanks
They'll probably ask you about yourself and why you want the job so read up on the company history and come up with a good answer. They'll ask you about experiences you've had and about your character. The fact that you haven't had any experience will only effect the types of questions you're asked. Just keep in mind a few situations when you've "been frustrated with someone and how you've handled it". Basically, they're just trying to get a feel of what type of a person you are. Wear nice clothes to make a good impression and that means NO jeans. DRess pants and a cute blouse. Change the formality of your outfit according to the type of environment it is. Be polite, don't fidget and remember to sell yourself but don't exaggerate.

Brake is on the left, gas is on the right.
If you're driving a standard, the clutch is on your far left.
Only use your right foot if you're driving an auto. If you're driving a standard, use your right foot for the gas and the brakes and your left foot for the clutch.
