I don't want to use store bought shampoos and conditioners anymore. I've tried so many in the past years, even some recommended by doctors & people from salons and they make my hair look worse. I don't have itchy scalp/dandruff. My hair just looks greasy.
What can I use every day to make my hair shiny and soft?
And is there something that I could do like once a week as well?
I don't want to use eggs. I was considering some tea but I'm not quite sure.
I use biolage hydrating shampoo & condition with biolage conditioner, & use a lancome hydrating masque (twice a week). Then, I use either perfect 10 leave in conditioner, biolage curl defining creme (even though I straighten my hair), or biosilk (tiny amount.) I switch things up every once in awhile.
A way to keep your hair from looking dry is to not blow dry/use heat. If you have to blow-dry, try doing it on the coolest setting possible.
If you need to use heat, use something like the CHI keratin mist to protect your hair from heat.
Also, one more thing. Stripping/clarifying shampoos are awful for your hair because they strip all of the essential oils from your scalp. You would do best to stay away from those.
I read somewhere that Herbal Essences Hello Hydration is good, too, but I never used it. It probably smells awesome, too.
Also, when you shampoo, apply lots of pressure to increase circulation to your scalp because a healthy scalp translates to healthy, shiny hair. :)
I went to a party and said something and my friend started crying and everyone is on her side and now my social life is ruined and i dont know what to do to get it back i didnt even know i offended her but i guess i "went too far" and really hurt her but i need to know how to get my social life back
If you were drunk, you might be able to undo the damage by making that known...unless these people look down upon drinking. If that's the case, it'll make matters worse. And if there was no alcohol there, this isn't an option.
okay, i have like a bunch of black hair on my arms and i guess i could live with that but i was wondering if i shave it then will the hair grow back thicker that before? if it does i might as well leave it as it is. i really wanna know.
It won't really be thicker & darker, but it will appear thicker as a result of the blunt edge a razor leaves on the hair. Because of the blunt edge, the angle at which light hits the hair will cause the hair to appear darker.
Rather than shave it, I'd trim it because I shaved mine a few times in hopes that it wouldn't look bad...and it was awful.
It grew back looking not only thicker & darker, but it was spikey because of the blunt edge.
Even now, when people sit next to me in the car, even if I have a long-sleeve shirt on, my arm hair sticks them & they're like "OW!"
So, now I use Smooth Away. It takes your tan away, but oh well.
Okay well ive been dating this guy for about 2 months now and every thing is perfect but ther is one thing that is bugging me he is still really cool with his ex and she still likes him i mean he tells me everything like what she tries to do and stuff like that she knows he is with me and she does not like me at all (i really dont cre about all that) but she texts him all the time tries to come see him and asked him to come over her house im kinda stunned i really dont knw what i should do i mean ive been done so wrong in the past and i dnt wnna put all my troubles on him but i just need help
It's likely that if you tell him that it bothers you, he will list reasons why you have nothing to worry about.
If this is the case, it could mean that you really don't have anything to worry about, or that he's defending her & you do...it depends on what kind of a person he is & the way he reasons...but you might not know that side of him yet, after only 2 months.
One thing that is very reassuring is that he tells you things about her. It might aggrivate you, but this tells you that he isn't hiding anything.
I do think that him going to her house is a bit of a stretch, though. Although if they were friends before they dated, it would be less of a stretch. It sucks because it's not like you can/should go there with him because she doesn't like you for whatever reason & that's the kind of thing only married couples do...or couples of like years...or those of one or both clingy people.
Maybe if you told him that you're uncomfortable, you could ask what he was doing at her house (not in a maternal "Where were you?" kind of tone.) or if it was just him & her, or if other people were there, too.
Good luck.
It'll be obvious if he cheats
Okay. Me and my boyfriend started dating on my birthday in 2006, it is now 2009 and almost 3 years. But yesterday april 4, 2009, he broke up with me. And let me tell you why. About less than a month ago I started talking to a guy, in LA, its about 6 hours from where I live. I never met the guy and never planning to. Well he called me babe and I did too. Well yesterday I got a text from the other guy saying that if he could call me in 15 minutes. My boyfriend read it and he broke up with me. I know I did something wrong. But I never had sex with the guy. I never even met him. Please I lost the love of my life. And I want him back. He is the one person I want to spend the rest of my life with. Please help me. I don't know what to do.
Does he know that you never met this kid?
I think that if he knew that much, then it would seem way more harmless, because, really, it is if it's only over text...or even over the phone.
Tell him that you never planned on meeting this guy because you have him within reach & wouldn't want to have anyone else in his spot.
So, you really can't say that you "cheated." You haven't even been able to smile at the kid, much less kiss/sleep with him.
If you told him that you're sorry and everything that I wrote above, it would be very humbling, especially if you're the kind of person who doesn't find it easy to apologize, like many people, including myself, are.
If you really wanted to cheat on him, you wouldn't try it with a guy who lives 6 hours away because it'd be too easy to get caught if you ever wanted to go see him, as most couples like to see each other. Where could you be going that takes a 6 hour drive?
It's not as though your boyfriend could think you find this text-guy more captivating in conversation than him because...how much charm can you send through your thumbs? Not much.
Hope I helped.
I'm in 8th grade and I heard a lot of stuff 'bout high school. I heard about cliques (which kinda scared me) and about the work gettin harder and gettin more of it (more school work, that's impossible). So I need some trues or fakes. Are there the cliques? Is the work harder? Is there more work? Will it all be worth it? Am I gonna lose my mind on the first day? (please don't awnser that last one). Ok, 1 more question. What will high school really be like? I fu can help, then thnx. If not, then thnx anyway. Laters!
Okay,
1. Yes, there are cliques. Find your friends early on & stick with them. I don't mean to scare you, but breaking away from the your earliest friends you make in highschool, unless they do something backstabber-ish, is not a smart move. Trust me, I know.
2. The work really isn't that hard. When I had problems, the counselors were all concerned & moved me down from honors.
3. There isn't much more work than elementary/middle school.
4. Yes, it will be worth it because my sister told me college was better. And without getting through highschool, you won't see college ever. Then you won't have the career you want.
Don't be nervous.
It's pretty much what you make it because when you enter the halls on the first day, everyone else will be just as nervous as you, so you won't be alone...and a lot of people talk more when they're nervous. There's a chance you'll make a few friends on the first day.
i am a male of 20. i have been going to gy for a while (3 years). after a lot of efforts i succeeded in gaining muscle mass as i ama eggetarian(no flesh) and it prooved harder then i thought. as a source of protein i have been having cheese in adequate amounts and some eggs to but not daily.but this winter i gaines weight around my belly and chest which i hate.the thing is if will try to cut my diet a bit then i may loose my hard earned muscles but i want to loose excess fat without loosing the muscle mass. shoul i continue having the cheese and eggs stuff while i am under the weight control period ar are they too fat increasing in nature that they may make t\my efforts to loose weight gain go in vain. please help me and even with additional tips if u can.
If you cut out cheese/eggs, you will lose muscle mass because protein is what builds tissue. Your cholesterol would go down, but that's not an issue that you wrote.
I'm sure that you COULD say that the cheese & eggs are causing weight gain, but only because of what you're eating them with.
If you're trying to lose weight, you shouldn't eat carbs & protein together. So if you eat eggs with cheese, and then an hour later, eat a piece of fruit/toast or something, that's not helping with weight loss.
I lost weight recently by just cutting out sugar & starch altogether & it was easy because I've always had issues with those types of carbs. But I will eat green beans & other vegetables that have carbs (excludes corn, potatoes, yams, peas.)
If you don't think you'll have an easy time doing that, then make sure carbs & protein are not consumed within a 2-3 hour period of each other.
I've been taking protein shakes for a while now, mostly whey protein, and occassionaly this new creatine product that I take before workouts called cytonox.
If there are any nutritionists on this website... what would be the best product overall for after workouts, as in what's the healthiest decision amongst the protein shakes out there. And also what's the best product overall for creatine based products?
I know you didn't ask this, but creatine is very bad for your kidneys.
Hi I asked the question about depression cutting smoking/ drinking & things a while back - you answered today- i wanted to know if you could give me your aim screen name to talk to you deeper you really just inspired me. I'm rating you a 5 to the past question & this one.
Yes, I do.
I might have to create a new screenname, though,
because I have to figure out what my password was, ha.
But yeah.
My screenname is
supercalaturk.
15/f
I am loosing hair EVERYWHERE. It's crazy! Everytime i take a shower, run my hands through my hair or brush it. It's just everywhere! It has been more than normal lately
I dye my hair with natural instincts and wear clip in extensions everyday. Could that be the reason of it or is there something wrong with me?
Thanks in advance
The clip-in extensions could definitely account for that because it's seldom that if something pulls hair out of your head, it pulls just one strand.
I know by experience that clip-in extensions pull hair out. So, if this applies to you, some of the hair that was pulled out of the scalp may be left behind in your hair, loose.
Once water hits it, it pushes it out.
I'd doubt anything's wrong with you.
i havd these werid bumps under my right arm and on my stomach. there skin color and arent itchy or anything thay just are werid
They could be from taking hot showers.
Many of my friends have them.
Hi, I'm hoping you can help me. & Not tell me to go talk to my school couslar or a professinal, my friends, or even my family. I won't do it.
I use to cut in 7th & 8th grade. (Wrists) I recently (about 5 months ago) cut on my leg because I couldn't take it. I told myself it's the last time I'd do it.
Well, I can't take it any longer. We're reading a book in English 2 where this kid cuts himself because of his life, Wanna know what I did when I had to read it? I cried. & I didn't read the rest.
I don't know who I can talk to without them telling my parents, or me going on 24/7 sucidide watch. I'm not that bad. I wanna talk to my favorite teacher, but I CAN'T.
What can I do to make myself not cut myself? I hate writing, running doesn't take my mind off anything, and I feel like my life is going down the drain. I never use to drink, I'm a huge drinker now, I think about smoking to cure my problems almost daily. & I even skip school now. Please, what do I do before I screw my life up?
I'll rate 5 if you answer asap, please.
I'm going to let you know that smoking, drinking, cutting, and skipping school aren't going to help you recover. They may help you feel better for the moment that their effect is upon you. But, they're only bandaids. Every bandaid comes off eventually. Every cigarette incinerates into nothing but lung cancer. Every beer disappears as you drink it & every drunken night ends with a morning hangover. Every drink brings you closer to liver disease. Skipping school will only make the tests harder.
You'll just have more to worry about.
In order to keep yourself from cutting yourself, you'll have to build up your self-esteem.
Everyone has something to be happy about.
You're here to type your story on this site, so that means that you can still fog a mirror...you're alive, and that's a blessing that some unfortunate people only wish they could've had.
You don't need to talk to your friends, family, or teachers about this, but it would be wise...just be careful what you say to certain people...a psych ward may cause anxiety in addition to your depression.
Really take my advice because this is important...think positive. There are many ways to replace negative sayings with less-negative sayings.
For example:
NOT "this sucks."
BUT "well, this could be better."
The fact that you asked for advice on this site is a step in the right direction & it's easier because people like me aren't close to your situation.
I think rather than dwelling on the reasons TO cut yourself, smoke, drink, or skip, you should think of the reasons NOT TO do those things.
Sometimes, it's really hard to see the good things in your life when the bad things are the ones that are contstantly in your face & in the spotlight of your mind.
You're someone worth knowing, befriending, loving, and respecting- as everyone is. When you do these self-destructive things, you hide the goodness in you that people want to see...and that you want to see.
Continuing these harmful habits will only cause more problems than anyone can handle.
So, before you decide to cause more problems when trying to fix the pre-existing problems the wrong way, fix whatever is bothering you right away...the right way. Once that's done, you'll see that you're worth more than a hospital patient with many problems like depression, lung cancer, liver disease, and scars from cutting.
You don't deserve this.
You can even question yourself in your head. Introspecting for long periods of time will bring solutions that you'd have never thought of without taking time to really think about everything...the key to not digging yourself into a deeper rut of depression is thinking positive.
If you don't want to talk to anyone, talk to me, or anyone on this site just so that you know someone's listening...or reading.
Lately, I have started working out more.
I also have started to get dizzy very often. I forget things that I was told just a few seconds ago. Also, the circulation in my legs have been retarded. Sometimes I forget to eat, so maybe that could effect. I just am not hungry very often anymore.
The fact that you forget to eat accounts for the dizziness. It may also account for the circulation issues because certain vitamins & minerals are responsible for proper circulation.
You may not be hungry because when you work out more, your metabolism speeds up, thus, causing your body to move faster. You may be busy thinking of things other than eating.
Something very, very similar to this happened to me when I first started taking adderall.
In this period, I drew for hours on end, eating one piece of fish in a whole day.
Also, when someone starts to lose weight, subconsciously, they notice their progress & don't want to do anything to sabotage it. Your brain can control your hunger. I don't mean the way that the hypothalamus controls hunger. I mean that it's possible to convince yourself that you've eaten enough, even if you've eaten nothing.
Perhaps you're experiencing something similar.
i had a tab (speed based) friday night around 10 and it was my first time. i didnt go to sleep that night and my jaw all the way up to my temples hurt really bad! is it from chewing gum for many hours? and then saturday night i went to a party and got drunk and my jaw still hurts! it hurts to the point where i cant eat so i havent eaten an actual meal since friday afternoon. i have to be really careful when i shampoo my hair and it hurts when i open my mouth wide. it hurts really bad like sore wise.
why is that? and when will it go away?
You should be careful with these things because if someone gave it to you, you don't know whether or not it's laced with something toxic to the brain.
Certain areas of the brain control muscle function & nerve impulses that go to the immune system.
I also agree with the girl below.
they look like birthmarks.. the little black dots you get when your really little. Like 2 years ago I got the first one and then 2 more appeared. Its like.. they arent there and then the next day when I wake up I see it on my hand. There havent been anymore recently that I know of but its weird.. why did/do these random spots appear?

^the three on my hands
You should look at the shape of them.
If they're oddly shaped, they could be melanoma (skin cancer.)
If they change shape or get darker or larger, get to a dermatologist.
If not, they could be freckles.
how can i stop eating so much?? i used to have belimia and its always on my mind.. i keep eating LOTS every second i want food and its driving me crazy. if i dont do somethin about it now im gunna turn belimic again and i dont want to!!! plz help me! IM SCARED ILL GET BELIMIA AGAIN =[
Bulimia is sort of a method of control.
You feel like you don't have control of yourself when you're exposed to food, or when you're hungry.
What you might not realize is that now, it's not only the food that's controlling you, but the constant threat of becoming bulimic again is, too.
I know that no one wants to be controlled by something like food or a past problem.
What you should do is, before taking a bite of anything, ask yourself why you're eating that and think of all the benefits in the food...if it isn't good for you & will make you gain weight, nothing will come to mind other than, "It tastes good."
That's not a reason to take the bite because you're trading hours that would be sane for a few seconds of joy before you swallow.
Weigh your options:
-You could continue to eat bad food, then be tormented by your own mind.
-You could eat right, then feel good about it.
Your options seem to be limited right now.
But if you consider the fact that you have control over what goes into your mouth, you will experience a feeling of peace...that everything can turn out fine.
Every morning, you should compliment something about yourself when you look into the mirror.
This will help you to feel better about yourself & convince yourself that you deserve more than unhealthy food & hours of self-torment.
Talk to your doctor.
You'll overcome this.
i'm 20 years old and been bulimic for about a year now. my sister has caught me once throwing up and i just said that "i was sick", also my mom has suspicions because of the weight loss. But i want to stop it, because the other day i woke up and had trouble breathing and i had chest pain throughout the day. now, i dont know if it is a cause of my bulimia but im pretty sure it is. My problem is that i can't stop thinking about purging. like i would eat a normal small meal and all i could think about is when would be the time to purge in order for no one to hear me, while im eating it.
Just to answer your question, the chest pain is caused by the disorder because every time you purge, acid is sent back up the esophagus and eventually wears holes in the esophagus.
The chest pain is commonly known as gerd.
The trouble breathing is caused by the chest pain, because, when you have chest pain, breathing causes further discomfort.
Without a doubt, you should go to your doctor.
I also think that you should sit down & just think about what the reason could be for the purging & why you feel the need to.
It would benefit you to sit down & write positive aspects of your physical appearance because the disorder is caused by a distorted body image & the disorder only worsens this cause.
If you have problems thinking of many positive aspects of your physical appearance, elaborate on the ones that you can.
Then look at those features in the mirror for confirmation of the compliments you'd just written.
Good luck with recovering.
Make sure you see your doctor.
Okay so,
I was really curious about this...
How close can you get to your root when you shave?
Can you actually kill the root with the razor?
Or will your skin not let you go that far?
This question is haunting me!
PLEASEEEE HELPPP! :)
You are not able to kill the root. Your hair will always grow back, no matter what...even with lazer hair removal.
The skin is composed of many layers. Deep within the dermis (one of the layers) is the hair follicle, through which sweat & other fluids are released. If the hair follicle gets clogged with dirt, an ingrown hair forms.
Because only your epidermis is what your razor touches, you are not touching the root.
Epithelial tissue (skin) is there to protect your blood from bacteria, like such that would be on the razor.
lately, no matter how early i go to bed, i dread the next seven hours of school. i really need some type of energy drink - i tried monster, which isn't even healthy, and i crashed fifth period when i took it second (just a few hours).
my dad agreed that I can get an energy drink as long as it's healthy & well, affordable haha.
any helpp?
There's "5-hour-energy," but my body never responds to anything that's energizing because of insulin-resistance.
So, when I used 5-hour-energy, it didn't work.
Green tea is energizing & it comes in many forms.
You can drink it, eat it in a mint, chew it in gum, take it in a pill...I'm sure the capsules & the brewed green tea are the most useful, though.
how do i get my dog to stop urinating on my bed??
This is going to seem not very nice, maybe.
But I'm not trying to make you feel dumb.
Just don't let the dog on the bed.
Every time he/she comes on the bed, just pick him/her up, place him/her on the floor, & say "get down," clearly & firmly.
This way, the dog should learn what the saying means much like a dog would learn the meaning of the word "sit."
Once the dog knows the command, he/she will obey when you say so.
Do not hit the dog. It is not nice.
Hope this helped :)
