Sometimes it happens to me, whenever I'm EXTREMELY nervous. When I'm a little nervous or excited, my right knee will shake up and down (if I'm sitting). It's pretty much incontrollable - I can't stop it or slow it down or anything. But if I'm REALLY, REALLY nervous I'll shake all over.
Perhaps you were nervous because you were in a house with some strangers, and then you didn't know where your dad was?
If it continues, you should go to a doctor.

Some abbreviations I have no idea what mean
what does i.e. mean???
i sometimes rate (link)

i.e. > abbreviation > that is to say.
-ORIGIN from Latin id est 'that is'.
i.e. when you use a confusing example, and you want to simplify it, you say, "i.e. blah, blah, blah, blah..."

Hello...this is a question for guys to answer but girls are welcome to answer the other question i ask.
okie dokie...
GUYS: do you think it makes us, girls, feel good about our selfs when you call hott to an extended degree?...(example: yesterday this guy YELLED from across the street at my friend(13/f) "turn down the AC cuz its getting hott in here".)
GIRLS: do you apperciate (sp?) it when you are called hott (like the example above) by your boyfriend or another guy?
will rate for good answers
1s for dumbass/smartass/stupid/iggnorant answers (link)

I hate being called "hott." I ABSOLUTELY CAN NOT STAND IT!!!!
I've told my boyfriend that - so he won't say it - under penalty of death. It makes me feel like a toy or a plaything whenever a guy says "Man, that chick is hot!" I can't stand it. Most girls I know don't like it - though there ARE exceptions; some girls I know actually like to be called "hot." Not me though.
I'm not a guy, but maybe they see it as a compliment? They think that we want to be called "hot"?
Sometimes my boyfriend will tell me that I'm pretty, or beautiful, and that makes me feel really good about myself. I'm naturally self-conscious; and when he says something like that, I can just feel a bubble (so to speak) rising inside me.
Once I was talking to a guy online (AIM) and he said he thought I was hot - and he lives in a different state than me! I've met him once in person, five or so years ago. He's my mom's friend's grandson. Seriously, he's seen one picture of me in that was taken two years ago. It made me so angry when he said that he thought I was "hot," I signed off of AIM without saying bye to anyone and went into my room just to scream. I can not stand being called hot. Another friend once called me hot (E-mail) and it made me very mad, but that was more tolerable; since I do see him much, much more frequently. Only one guy has called me 'hot' to my face, and when he did, I turned and went into the bathroom - and didn't come out for at least fifteen minutes. I was NOT very happy.
Yes, there are some girls who love to be called hot, but I'm not one of them (obviously).
I feel sorry for your friend. I'm sure she's very pretty, and to me, being called hot is an insult. Degrading. I bet she's really, really pretty. :)

i just hate when the boys make fun of me.i just want them to treat me like a girl.i always feel like im one of the boys and i just hate it.nobody care for me i always left out.i feel realy lonely to the maximum.other girl friends all get attention from the boys but nobody understand that i need to be cared to.i want to be loved to.its there anything wrong with my character?maybe im boyish but the way i dress up is lady like.perhaps im too friendly and outspoken.what to do??? Be yourself girl!!!!!!!!! If that means wearing boyshorts, big t-shirts, no makeup, baseball caps, Converse chucks, and skateboarding - GO FOR IT! There is a guy out there who is right for you and will love you for who you are. Most guys can see right through fake girls. Though some don't care...
I faced the same situation. I wasn't really a "girl" nor was I a "boy." I just didn't fit in. No one treated me like a girl - or how I think girls should be treated. I think that guys should help girls open doors, walk them to their cars / house, help them carry things that are heavy or when their arms are full, guys should ask our opinions and tell us how they really feel. But for almost fourteen full years, I opened my own doors (and opened doors for guys!), carried my own stuff, helped myself etc. I felt awful, left out, miserable, neglected. Until.... until I met my boyfriend and such. He acutally makes me feel like a girl! He opens doors, walks me to my car, tells me how he feels and asks my opinion. He compliments me on how I look, and provides great knowledge when I'm stumped (either on a life issue or struggling for the right words - even in school - though he might not know it...).
My best friend is a guy magnet. And good looking too. She's beautiful, smart, fun, caring and more. For a while, whenever I was around her, I felt lesser than her because I don't feel like I'm as "good" as her. She would tell me about her love life problems, and I could sometimes sorta help - not like I had experience or anything, but you know.
I know girls who are more than guy magnets - they are guy fishers. They literally put themselves out to get a boyfriend. I'm sorry, I find this incredibly shallow - to make yourself seem like someone you're not just for attention from a good-looking guy. Blah.
I'd rather be hated for who I am than loved for someone I'm not.
I don't go to the same church as my boyfriend, and whenever I'm at church, I feel very lonely and disregarded. I simply don't fit in. (There are many reasons, I won't go into that though) I don't have friends there, and they don't want to be my friend. When I see girls and guys flirting, or couples, I feel so ... depressed almost. It just kills me - and I'm sure you feel the same way.
Hey, you're lucky - at least only the boys make fun of you! Everyone makes fun of me!
Guys are, for the most part, immature. They're just more immature than girls are. Most of them will grow up - just slower than you and I do. There are a few exceptions of course. They'll grow up and see what a WONDERFUL girl you are - you'll have guys calling you every night!
There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with your character. You are unique. Wouldn't it be drab and boring if everyone looked alike, sounded alike, acted alike, liked the same things etc.? It would be terribly unexciting. I am a peculiar person, no doubt about that. But that makes me unique. You're very uniqe also!
I get made fun of because I have a more-than-slightly-morbid curiosity. Really! I love learning about the Salem witch trials (how they were killed, tortured and mistreated), the Holocoust, the Black Death and other plagues. No one else really has that odd love for slightly disgusting knowledge. I love learning about the war doctors - like during the Civil war, how the doctors would amputate limbs... that's so fascinating to me! And I get teased. It's not a big deal to me anymore.
As a girl, you naturally have a desire to be loved. More than most guys. I know... and it bites when no one cares for you.
Just keep your eyes open. Make a list of all the things you want in a guy. That way you'll not lower your standards and you'll know when the right guy comes along.
Oh, stand up for yourself girl! Don't LET those boys make fun of you! Laugh with them, then pull one on them. They'll get the idea - you mean business. And ask your chick-friends to cool it a bit. They don't have to flirt so openly with you right there, do they? Ew - take it somewhere else man! It'll all work out, you'll see.

Okay : Superchic[k]'s CD called Beauty From Pain is absolutely phenomenal. I bought it recently and I'm amazed at how relevent it is! One song acutally made me WANT to cry. There's stuff on that CD about guys, love, losing family members, friends, fun and God - it's a great CD. You can use http://www.lyrics.com/ or http://www.azlyrics.com/ or any other lyrics-search engine to find their lyrics. Acutally, one of the best songs on the CD, Beauty From Pain, is called Beauty From Pain. That's a good song. A REALLY good song.
Try some of the stuff from the OC Supertones. They have some good songs - good lyrics.
Skillet. Wicked awesome band, great songs. I love their song called Open Wounds. It's fantastic.
Mae has some good stuff, but not really for girls.
Sugar Cult might have some stuff, and I know Yellow Card will have songs that relate. The All-American Rejects might have a few songs, as will Kelly Clarkson. Three Doors Down probably has some songs also.
I highly recommend Superchic[k] and Skillet. Mat Kearney probably has some stuff, and so would John Reuben and KJ-52, that is - if you don't mind rap!
It just depends on what you're going through, what you need to hear etc. Superchic[k] covers most of it though. :)

ok i straighten my hair alotttt. anyone have any good conditioners or shampoos that help your hair from such damage (link)
|
Try using a flat iron with ceremic plates (it helps a little). Though, for the heat damage, go with something from Aveda. They have a shampoo / conditioner set for EVERYTHING. Seriously, split ends, dry hair, curly hair, damaged hair, straight hair, thick hair, thin hair - you get the idea. I use the moisturizing stuff because I straighten my hair frequently also. I use the moisturizing shampoo and conditioner from VO5 (mixed with Aveda) to make it last longer. VO5 isn't GREAT shampoo/conditioner, it does the job though - whereas Aveda is GREAT shampoo / conditioner, but can be a bit pricey; which is why I mix them to make it last longer. :)

How do you cry? Like, what causes you to start crying when you are upset? Or when you are in pain. I can understand in pain it may be a natural reaction to the body, but when you're feelings are hurt or something, how does that work? (link)
|
I can't give you a fully scientific answer, in fact, I'm not sure if scientists have totally figured out WHY we cry when we're sad, or upset - perhaps they have, I don't know.
Either way, crying is relief of emotional or mental stress. When things start to build up, and I've got fifty different people all spouting off at me, plus chores and schoolwork, and 32 very demanding animals, home conflictions, friends whose lives are taking a turn for the worst - yeah, those are times that I just want to cry. Not beacuse I have physical pain, but because of emotional and mental stress / pain.
I've cried for my boyfriend, if he wasn't feeling good, or something bad happens in his neighborhood, frankly, it scares the CRAP out of me. He doesn't live in a "wonderful" neighborhood, and whenever something bad happens, often I'll either write about it, or talk to God about it, or call up my "sister." But no matter how I get my feelings about it out, I'll probably cry.
Sometimes I cry out of sheer happiness. I can't explain that one. I'm just so happy I want to scream, jump, skip, cry, hug - anything. I don't know why though. But that's only sometimes.
Sometimes I cry out of pain, emotional pain. Like missing someone... I miss someone so badly that it makes me cry. :\
I don't cry over physical pain though. Just... I don't. The last few times I had something REALLY bad (physically) happen to me, I pulled the tendons, ligiments and nerves attatched to my hamstring and knee. It hurt like crazy, but never once did I cry. After that I pulled the tendons in my elbow. Didn't cry about that either. Before both of those incidents, I fell badly and scraped my knee up - there was a piece of rock in my knee. Now that wasn't fun, and it really hurt. But I didn't cry.
However, being sick (like with the flu) really does change everything. Something like an ant bite will make me cry when I'm sick like that. Actually, when I did have the flu this year, I woke up really sick on a Friday. I was supposed to go to a ballroom dance class - and I love dance. I was so angry and upset about being sick that I cried. That, in turn, made me feel worse (I ended up vomiting - haha..) which made me cry harder. Crazy.
For most girls, being on their period or PMSing really messes with their minds. Because their hormones change SO much during those two weeks, it's like Jekle / Hide. Thankfully, I don't suffer PMS badly (or... lucky for my family and friends!), but I'm more emotional during the "week of." That's normal, though.
I honestly can't explain it any better than what I've tried to do. Sorry if this was a useless waste of time and energy.

Do you have to have an ID to buy ciggarettes? (link)
|
Yeah, you do. Some places (random chance that you'll pick the one that doesn't) say they card, but don't. Either the cashier forgets, or doesn't care, or you look old enough. Usually, if you look like you're in your late twenties (at least!) no one will ask for your ID.

ok i had sex on my period, couple of days after and that sunday it was the first time i go on the pill can i get a preganant? and if yes how can i b sure ? is my period going to come is thier any danger for the baby if i keep using the pill ? please help me i need all the info i can get it will realy help me with this agony i have... (link)
|
Yes, there's always a CHANCE that you'll get pregnant whenever you have sex. However, it is NOT LIKELY that you'll get pregnant while you're on your period. A period is a discharge of the uterus lining - something your body doesn't need because you're not pregnant. The lining helps protect, support and sustain a baby during pregnancy. However, when a sperm does not meet the egg, the uterus doesn't need a lining, so it sheds it. This is a period.
Because you were on your period, you'll not get pregnant (unless by some MIRACULOUS happening).
The pill terminates pregnancy - kills the baby. If you were to get pregnant, the pill would terminate (thus killing) the baby.
Just to be safe, get a home-pregnancy test from Wal*Mart, Kroger, Target or CVS. They're not always accurate, so if you show any signs of pregnancy, you might want to go to a doc.

One of my closest friends just recently admitted to me something that I found quite disturbing.
She told me a couple days ago " no offense, but my cats are more important to me than any of my friends or family.
She said if her house were on fire the first thing she would grad were her cats, and not her parents or friends!!
I didn't say anything but I was quite upset. I would always pick my friends and family over my pets.
Am i overreacting to being upset? (link)
|
That's a little odd, I must admit. I would definitely go for my family and friends before I would even THINK about the animals. Animals have a sixth-sense, so to speak. They can tell if the house is on fire or sense a danger before humans. Cats have been known to save peoples lives, warning them of burglers and prowlers, helping them escape fires and gas leaks. The cats will KNOW if the house is on fire.
I don't really think you're over reacting that much, I can understand your feelings though.
Just ask her if she'd at least yell to you that the house is on fire. I mean, you have two legs right?
Another good question to ask her would be if you were injured, would she help you, or would she go for the cats. (Remember, the cats are going to be frantic, trying to find a way to get out!)
I know that I'd always go for my friends and family. I've recently discovered what it really means to care for someone greatly - I know that I'd give my life (or a limb, anything) for one person. Including in a fire. I would be more worried about that one person (then the rest of my friends and family) than I would any material item or pet.
Let's just hope and pray that you're not stuck in a burning house with her. :)
Don't worry about it.. some people are extremely passionate. She's one of them.

ok, my hair is naturally blonde...and uh i dyed it black...(but it was a lot of colors in between and the black was a boo boo) and now my roots are back and it has been dyed black for almost 1 and a half years now. i have been redoing it and stuff when my roots needed it. but now i wanna get back to blonde!!! how can i go about getting back to blonde with blonde roots of about 2 inches and then the rest of my shoulder length hair black? is there any way to get hte dye out, cuz i wanna be blonde again ASAP!!! thanks! (link)
|
Well... there are basically three options.
- Go to a salon and let them strip your hair. It's damaging, and a little pricy, but you'll get your natural color right back.
- Go to a store and find a blonde dye that is the closest thing to your natural color and dye your hair. It might take more than one box, considering your hair is black.
- Let the black grow out naturally. Not exactly your best option, but it is the cheapest.
Other than that, I don't know.

What is this song. its so old!
Its slow and romantic, I think by an african american singer. and Its not really like rap.
Its like 1- im in love with you 2-i just wanna be with you 3- its plain to see that youre the only one for me, and 4 repeat steps 1-3
does anyone remember that?
5's and feedback!
Thanks!

I am new to this site and it seems infested with young teenagers asking about bands who care more about their image than their music. Since when do trends like black hair and girls jeans take precedence on what muscians are there for in the first place? Everyone is following a cookie cutter sound and it seems no one cares about throwing something fresh into the music community and that the only way to get noticed is to follow the crowd.
I guess what I'm asking is, are the cookie cutter image based bands just marketed well and forced upon youth, or are kids not being exposed to the real music enough for them to get into it? (link)
|
Ohh, good question. Good grammar too, you get a gold star. :D
Most of the teenaged population follow (and are infatuated with) "cookie cutter image based bands." Part of the reason is commercial TV / Radio and peer pressure. If all the "cool" people in your school are listening to 'Band X,' and 'Band X' has been on MTV a few times, regardless of their music quality - Band X is going to be a hit. ESPECIALLY if they sing punk/emo stuff.
Sometimes I'll browse through PureVolume, and I'm amazed at the number of 'boy bands' who all have black hair, black TIGHT girl-pants, red or black shirts and matching shoes. HUNDREDS of these bands.
Do you know why there are so many of these bands?
Because they know it works.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Right?
I prefer stuff that's a little different. Skillet is okay, and Pillar is cool. Superchic[k] is wicked awesome the Supertones are pretty good, Seventh Day Slumber is cool, Mae is great - you get the idea. None of those bands sing punk/emo stuff. In fact, they're all a little different in what they sing. Superchic[k] definitely has the most original music of them all. Their music is sort of techno-dance stuff. I like it. Especially because they have guys and girls in their band and they don't follow the "cookie cutter image."
Most of the music out there all sounds the same. I like something new and fresh, something you don't hear on the radio every three songs. In fact, most of the bands I listed above are never on the radio.
Because most of the smaller companies are owned by larger companies (though they keep their own labels), there isn't much variety in music anyway. To make it worse, teens hear the same stuff over and over, so they start to like it. Once they decide they like it, they want more of it. When they want more of it, the newer bands (who still sound very much the same as the older bands) get a chance. The band-wanna-bes see what teens want and conform to that in order to survive. It's just a big circle of madness.
That, combined with "everyone listens to Band X" is pretty much why most youth listen to the same stuff : Cookie cutter image based bands.
Don't conform - be different! :)

how can i tell if a girl likes me 13/m if it helps
(link)
|
Each girl will do things a little differently. But it is widely accepted in the world of girls to flirt a little. Just remember that every single one of us will do things just a little differently.
Most girls will dress nicely. Perhaps they don't change their wardrobe or anything, but they make sure they look nice, do the hair, the make-up, the purfume, yada yada -- all to look nice.
Many girls will flirt by smiling sweetly in your direction, look at you, sit near you, etc. She might ask for your SN, give you her phone number etc. She will most likely look at you A LOT. During class, across the room, on the bus, whatever. She'll probably attempt to attend the same social functions as you. If you go to the football game (or play football), she'll probably be there - regardless of her team spirit or love for football (or lack thereof).
She might talk to your friends or ask them about you. Maybe her friends would ask you stuff, if you like her etc.
She might walk OUT OF HER WAY just to pass your locker, even though it's not on the way to her next class (block, period, whatever).
Basically, she'll probably try to appear nice, look at you a alot, perhaps talk to you a lot, and basically be flirty.
The forward girls will ask you out themselves. Other girls will make phyiscal contact. [i.e. - hug, hold hand, grab hand and squeeze, gently caress back of neck, play with hair etc.]
The shy girls will glance at you, then smile shyly and look at the floor. (Or at least I do...) Her friends might ask about you, or she might not even tell them that she likes you. Just depends on the girl.
But almost EVERY girl wants to look nice for her man.
You could always ask her...
You'll probably be able to tell though. :)

i grew my hair out to my shoulders(that is the longest ive ever had it) and i got my hair cut REALLY short. so today at school the popular girls keep looking at me then laugh. I just feel really weird...please help!! (link)
|
Hello,
Don't let those "popular girls" get you down! If YOU like your hair, that's all that matters! I know it really hurts to be laughed at - I know. My hair has red and purple (right beside my face) streaks in it. People constantly laugh at it or say cruel things. Does it hurt? Yes, sometimes it does. But does it stop me? NO WAY! See, I really like it. I like the purple better than the red, but whatever. Really, there've been two people who actually came up to me and DIDN'T say something mean about my hair. Both of them are - of course - the "weird" kids. But hey, that's stereotyping. And that's not nice. They're both really cool.
In fact, those two are good examples. They're both, I suppose, kinda punk, but that's okay because they enjoy it. Most people would think they're weird - but they don't care! The guy, whew! He's crazy! But it's not in a bad way. The girl is just as crazy, but it's definitely NOT bad. They are their own people, and that's how it should be.
If you like how your hair is cut, then don't worry about those girls. Something I've found out is that if someone is jealous of you, they'll make fun of you. You probably look SUPER pretty and those girls are uber jealous - so they make fun and laugh. Don't let them make you sad.
Alot of the popular (not ALL, but most) people are "clones." I simply detest this because, guess what?
YOU WERE BORN AN ORIGINAL, DON'T DIE A COPY.
I like that phrase.
Wear funky clothes. Go all out. Cut your hair short and dye it green (if it's okay with your parents and school board). Wear red Converses with hot pink pants. Paint your nails black and don't wear makeup - be who you are. If you're more conservative, and like pink etc. Then wear pink, cut your hair how you like it, wear pretty clothes and nice jewelry - do whatever makes you who you are.
It's better to be hated for who you are than loved for someone you're not. :)

whenever i get my period it it the worst 7 days of my life.. i accually cry myself to sleep because the cramps are so bad and sometimes i have to miss school is this normal and what can i take to help out??? i rate high (link)
|
Me too. Except I don't get to skip school; I just get to be miserable. Sometimes I have cramps BEFORE the "week of." I definitely feel your pain, it totally bites.
Try some Midol. That usually works. It's a little expensive... [about $5.50 for 24 capsules] but it works. Now, because of the price, I don't use it. Simply put, we use the cheapest stuff out there. Ibuprofen (purchased at Wal*Mart, Kroger, Wallgreens, CVS, Target, K-Mart etc.) is decent enough, and cheap. Tylenol / Advil are okay as well, but not exactly great for teenagers.
Whenever you have extremely bad cramps, lie in the most comfortable position possible, and place a heating pad on the place where the cramps are the worst. If you get cramps in your back and stomach, focus on what hurts the worst. For all-around relief (or help, at least), try taking a hot bath. I mean HOT bath. Don't burn yourself, but the warmer the water is, the more relaxed your muscles will be, and the relaxed muscles will help relieve cramps.
When my cramps are at their worst, I can't even sleep in a bed - not enough support, it moves too much etc. I either sleep on the floor of my room or on a sofa. (Not a pull-out sofa, just a regular couch.) To me that helps some.
Try not to wear constrictive clothing to bed; sometimes I can't even wear sleeping pants because it hurts too much. Just go to bed in a long, loose T-shirt and underwear. Try not to prop your upper body up with many pillows, it helps to lie flat.
Take the pain killer of your choice according to the box recommendations (like every 4-6 hours or whatever). Use a heating pad and hot baths. Get lots of sleep. Spicy foods make me feel worse, though that might just be me. Drink LOTS AND LOTS of water. Not soda. Not coffee. Not juice. WATER. Good old H2O. It will make you feel much better, look better, and besides - who wants to be dehydrated AND on their period?
If the recommended things don't help, go to a doctor. A family practicioner might be able to help, but you'll probably have best luck with an OB/GYN.

I was wonderin..if you guys have smelled her new perfume called fantasy..and the old one called Curious..i was wonderin which one smelled better?! If you can answer this i`ll love ya 4ever! But please no smart ass answers like they both smell like shit please.. (EASY 5) (link)

I do not own either one of them, but friends of mine do (and of course stores..). I think that Fantasy is a more appealing fragrance than Curious. You do realize why Brittney had to make another purfume... the first one didn't make enough because it smelled "not-very-good." Definitely go with Fantasy.

Haha! No!! I'm smaller than that!! You're totally normal. Each girl is going to have a different size in everything. Featured columnists are chosen by the site at random. There's a list of columns that meet the criteria and the site will automatically choose one.

I've been featured twice, and I didn't recieve an E-mail either time. Though because I try to get on the site every day, it's not that hard to see who the eatured columnists is. Usually you'll recieve a few questions in your inbox (either saying "Hey, look! You're the featured columnist!" or a real question.) Usually the questions in your inbox that say "Congrats, you're featured.." or whatever are a good hint that you're on the front page. :D Though usually you're only featured for a day, unless DangerNerd has changed something...
