Igotamonopoly answered Wednesday September 28 2005, 12:46 am: I really would rather be called beautiful, because that refers to a girl's body and mind, as opposed to hot, which usually refers to a girls boobs and butt... [ Igotamonopoly's advice column | Ask Igotamonopoly A Question ]

FunnyCide answered Tuesday September 27 2005, 5:59 pm: I hate being called "hott." I ABSOLUTELY CAN NOT STAND IT!!!!
I've told my boyfriend that - so he won't say it - under penalty of death. It makes me feel like a toy or a plaything whenever a guy says "Man, that chick is hot!" I can't stand it. Most girls I know don't like it - though there ARE exceptions; some girls I know actually like to be called "hot." Not me though.
I'm not a guy, but maybe they see it as a compliment? They think that we want to be called "hot"?
Sometimes my boyfriend will tell me that I'm pretty, or beautiful, and that makes me feel really good about myself. I'm naturally self-conscious; and when he says something like that, I can just feel a bubble (so to speak) rising inside me.
Once I was talking to a guy online (AIM) and he said he thought I was hot - and he lives in a different state than me! I've met him once in person, five or so years ago. He's my mom's friend's grandson. Seriously, he's seen one picture of me in that was taken two years ago. It made me so angry when he said that he thought I was "hot," I signed off of AIM without saying bye to anyone and went into my room just to scream. I can not stand being called hot. Another friend once called me hot (E-mail) and it made me very mad, but that was more tolerable; since I do see him much, much more frequently. Only one guy has called me 'hot' to my face, and when he did, I turned and went into the bathroom - and didn't come out for at least fifteen minutes. I was NOT very happy.
Yes, there are some girls who love to be called hot, but I'm not one of them (obviously).
I feel sorry for your friend. I'm sure she's very pretty, and to me, being called hot is an insult. Degrading. I bet she's really, really pretty. :)

K2204 answered Tuesday September 27 2005, 5:27 pm: I prefer to be called beautiful or pretty. I would feel more loved to be called beautiful or hot.
being called hott or sexy or something makes me feel like im being used or something, like the guy would only like me for my looks.
beautiful and pretty, to me, how my boyfriend says it, is like inside and out, where hott and sexy is like outside only,
Id wrather be liked for only inside or inside and outside, not just outside!
mystical_breeze answered Tuesday September 27 2005, 4:56 pm: I do like being called hott, but as long as he isn't being a jerk about it. Like if he's with all his friends and he says, "Hey hottie!" trying to sound all cool in front of his friends, then it makes it uncomfortable. But, if he's being a nice guy and just wanting to make me feel good, then I think it's really sweet and a nice compliment. Especially if it comes from a boyfriend, and he really likes me, then I like that feeling of being attractive. I love questions like these, when I can give my opinion. Thanks for asking! ♥

xXxpinky615xXx answered Tuesday September 27 2005, 4:01 pm: Yes, guys do think it makes girls feel better about themselves when they call us hot. It's supposed to make us like them.
I could care less if a guy (other than my boyfriend) says I'm hot. If a guy says your hot, he's not looking at your face.
A guy who says you are HOT is looking at your body, a guy who says you are PRETTY is looking at your face, a guy who says you are BEAUTIFUL is looking at your heart.

Curemysadness answered Tuesday September 27 2005, 12:49 pm: Being called "hott" does make girls feel good to a certain extent. What I mean by that is..when guys continue saying it to you everytime they see you or talk to you..it gets old after a while. Of course girls are going to appreciate the compliment, tho. In my opinion, I find it much sweeter when a guy tells a girl that she is beautiful or gorgeous, rather than..hott. [ Curemysadness's advice column | Ask Curemysadness A Question ]
LadyGoodman answered Tuesday September 27 2005, 12:44 pm: I think I like being called hot, even if it is supposedly "degrading." If they called me hott, on the other hand, I'd tell them to learn how to spell.
Teen_Guru answered Tuesday September 27 2005, 11:52 am: in my personal opinion; I believe that when a guy keep saying stuff like that, most of the time (for most guys) r trying to "Butter up" the girls. this is ether doe to lack of confidence in themselves or being young, naive, and not knowing the proper way of treating women.
in my opinion also that when guys say that all the time to a lot of girls at the same time, it soon losses meaning.
I'm not saying there is anything wrong with it, but in obsessiveness, it can be more harmful, that fun. I personally don't believe Guys fully understand all that it can do to some one.
