About Daimeera

Hello there!

I'm a 21 year old female from Nova Scotia, Canada. I'm not as active on this site as I once was, but I will almost certainly reply to private questions sent to me.

Let's see, about me. I've been diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia Syndrome, Clinical Depression, as well as some other related mental and physical illnesses. Despite this, I'm happier now than I can ever remember being.

I've been a vegan since August 2007. In other words, I do my best not to consume anything of animal origin, ranging from the obvious (meat), to the somewhat obvious (eggs and dairy), to the not-so-obvious (honey, wool, silk, and more). I love this life. I have so much more appreciation for everything and everyone around me, and I feel so at peace with myself and the world. I wake up everyday and know that I'm making a difference. It's been a huge turning point in my life.

I recently graduated from high school after an extra three years due to my illness. It was a long road, but it felt amazing to walk across that stage. An added bonus was having the 15th highest average (over my high school career) out of 258 students!

I intend to pursue a career in psychology, first obtaining my BA, and then attending graduate school in order to study for my PhD. It's a little daunting at times, but I know it will be worth it. I want to help people, plain and simple. I want to make a difference. I want to change the world. And I believe I can, if only in a small way.

I think that's me in a nutshell. I also enjoy writing, knitting, multiple other artistic endeavors (including drawing, photography, music, and more), web design, and many other things. So, feel free to drop me a message if you think there's something I can help with.

Psst, guess what? I, like everyone else, have my very own message board! You can visit it here.

i was just wondering.. is there anyone reading this that picks their eyelashes?

well.. it's gross, but i do too.
i want to talk to someone that has the same problem i do.

thankss.

I don't pick my eyelashes, but I do/have picked at most of the other sources of hair on my body. It's not gross--it's a medically identifiable disorder called Trichotillomania.

You can find out more about it here:

http://www.trich.org/about_ttm/intro.asp

Or you can try googling it for yourself now that you have an idea of what it might be.

Try not to be ashamed of it. It's not your fault, and it's not something that you can make magically go away.

Feel free to send me an email if you want--it's on my column page.

You're not alone. Not even close.

I hate going to school. It just honestly doesn't work for me.Besides that,I think that I'd be better off on my own.

What are some ways for me to continue getting a credible education without actually going to a school every day?

You really have two other options. You can homeschool, or you can take correspondence or online courses.

Homeschooling really depends on if your parents are willing to go that route. Basically, they'll have to submit a curriculum to the government, which will have to approve it. You will then be required to complete the curriculum and send proof of its completion (or that's how it works here).

Correspondence courses are done through the mail (and depending on your marker, they can be done through email). You teach yourself the material and submit the required lessons to be marked. It's tough--really tough. I was a good student (usually my marks were between 95% and 98%) and then I was forced to leave school due to illness. I'm now working on correspondence courses and my marks have dropped significantly (my math average is currently 79%). So you need to be prepared for that.

Online courses are done online, of course, and the rest of the details depend on the course itself. Sometimes you have to be online at a certain time every day, and for other courses, you simply have to check in by a certain time. You'd have to find out more about the courses you need to take.

School is under-rated. I never liked it that much, but I would go back in an instant now if I knew I could physically handle it.

i have this small bump behind my ear. it's under the skin & some what hard. i've had it for years now. it's pretty small, doesn't hurt at all. i wouldn't even notice it was there until i felt it awhile ago. it's on my head directly behind my ear. it's not red or irritated. when i touch it, other then the bump, it feels like anything else. no pain whatsoever. should i go get it checked?? it doesn't seem too serious, only because i've had it for years, it stayed the same size [never got bigger or smaller for that matter], and was never painful. any ideas??

thanks!!

I'm no doctor, but it sounds to me like it's probably a cyst. I have two--one on my forehead and one on up near my neck between my shoulders. So yours sound like what I have.

That said, it never hurts to get a doctor to check it. It'll set your mind at ease, or worst case scenario, catch something that could become more severe.

I have a project to do on how Saddam Hussein's execution will help Iraq...or not help. My belief is it will not since hours after the hanging, another bomb attack took place in Iraq.

What's some other people's points of views?
Will it in fact help or not?
And do you seriously think they should have killed him?

I'm against the death penalty. I think that it's wrong to take someone's life, no matter what they've done. That said, I find myself torn when it comes to Saddam.

He had a lot of power. Keeping him in prison would be a constant threat. He has so many supporters that no matter how careful his capturers are, there would be a distinct possibility that they would at the very least attempt to get him out. That is what makes it such a dangerous situation.

I don't think they should have killed him, no. And I don't think it will help anymore than just having him in custody. But I also think that in this case, it's a very close call.

Sorry I couldn't be more decisive.

16 female. The other night my best friend invited me to go to a party. There was alcohol at this party and i know i get very sexual when i drink, but usually I can control myself. The guy that my friend asked to prom was there and he was completly wasted. He came over and was talking to us and before i knew it i was telling him how hott he was and making out with him. My friend passed out, and this guy took me up to him room and we had sex. He is 3 years older then me-19) My friend is really mad at me and even though i appoligized and she knew i was drunk and didnt know what i was doing she is still mad. Now im precieved by alot of people as a slut. How can i make my friend not mad and change my "slut" image?

If you really want your friend to forgive you, you have to be willing to walk the walk, not just talk the talk (eww, cliches).

Make an effort to change. Demonstrate that it won't happen again. Tell her you're going to give up drinking, and do it. There's no reason you SHOULD be drinking if it has this effect on you. No matter how good you might feel when you drink, it's obviously not working out. So stop altogether. If I were her, that would be a impressive step that says you're serious.

Give her time. Give everyone time. Chances are, if you don't do anything else gossip-worthy, most people will move on. Just try to stay out of the limelight for awhile.

You made a big mistake. And you're still trying to justify it. Saying things like "I didn't know what I was doing" is justifying your behaviour--behaviour that is not justifiable. You knew you act impulsively when you drink. You drank anyway. It was therefore your fault.

I'm not trying to say you're a bad person. I'm not trying to piss you off or make you feel like crap, either. But from your friends point of view, you're NOT sorry. If you make excuses, it implies that you don't really care about what you did, you just want her back. Tell her you made a terrible mistake. Tell her that you won't drink anymore. Tell her that you're sorry and you hope that she can eventually forgive you.

And live up to your words. It'll make you a better person.

I'm always tired, even if I get 13 hours of
sleep I always wake up feeling drowsy and tired.
I'm healthy, I eat well. My bed isn't
lumpy or bad for my back (I heard this could
be a problem) So why am I always tired!?

Chances are, exercising and sleeping less like suggested below will help. BUT, if not, you might want to see your doctor.

You may be tested for Mono, and some other illnesses that could cause fatigue. Some of them could do major damage, so although they're not likely, it's still important to get them ruled out.

If your fatigue started suddenly, after a flu-like illness, and you have pain, increased anxiety or mood problems, or even none of the above, there's the possibility that you have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. It's not common though, and it's not something to worry about at this time.

First thing's first--try the suggestions below, and if none work quickly, get to your doctor.

Me and my girlfriend have been sleeping together for a while, except recently I've been worrying myself to pieces. Even when we use a condom and it hasnt split or slipped for weeks later I'll be stressing out because I get paranoid she could become pregnant.

Recently Ive been avoiding sex and she's starting to notice I don't know how it'll affect our relationship. I don't want to be this paranoid about sex for the rest of my life either I just can't stop worrying! I don't know what to do?

I think it's normal to be nervous--if nothing else, it shows that you're actively engaged in thinking about your future.

Have you tried talking to her about what you said here? It would allow her to better understand why you're avoiding sex, and prevent her from thinking that you're bored of her or don't like her or whatever else might go through her head. If you use a condom and spermicide, you're fairly safe. If she's on the pill or another form of hormonal birth control, and you combine those with a condom and spermicide, you'll be even better off.

One other thing--unlike what was said below, never use two condoms together. The friction between them can erode both condoms, and it can sometimes make them easier to slip off. Not a good idea.

does anyone know of anything free or non-free that you can download/buy to edt your pictures? ex. teeth whiter, tannner, delete certain things on your face, change eye color, & so on.

dont care if it doesnt have it all

I use the GIMP. It's free, and you can find it at gimp.org. Has a big learning curve to it, but for that purpose, it shouldn't be too hard. It can do everything Photoshop can, sometimes it just takes a few more steps.

I love it, personally. But it's only good if you have patience.

Okay, this is the thing... I'm 15, and just got my period last year and i have a big thing with blood I cant see it , touch it or anything. So when i get my period i throw up sometimes beacuse its nasty or sometimes ill pass out.. and in school this is very bad what should i do ?

Honestly, a therapist might be your best bet. He or she can work with you to gradually desensitize you in a safe, controlled environment to the point where you can deal with blood.

If you can't afford a therapist, or choose not to go, I'd still try to desensitize yourself. Depending on how much it bothers you, you might do something like take a red marker or something with red ink, and draw on a fresh pad or tampon. Or watch a cartoon with simulated blood, and then move onto something like Law & Order. Try not to rush it--too bad you can't delay your period.

Sorry I can't be more help. I hope things work out for you.

idk if any of you know who hyori is, but if you google that name i'm sure you can find some pictures. i think she is absolutely gorgeous. but idk how to get a face as skinny as hers or a body like hers. does anyone have any tips? i always seem to lose my boobs when i exercise before i lose fat anywhere else (my stomach) any tips would be helpful thanksss.

I can tell you right now that you won't like this answer, but it's the only one that's true.

You're stuck with the body shape you have. If you have big bones, you'll always have a big frame--and if you lose weight, you'll just look anorexic instead of smaller. If you have a round face, it's going to stay round. If you lose weight in your boobs before anything else, you're always going to.

You can't pick and choose where you'll lose and gain weight, I'm afraid. You CAN do toning and muscle building exercises that will HELP your shape, but ultimately, you're pretty much stuck with what your genes dole out.

Sucks, I know. But it's the reality.

I wasn't sure what category to put this in so sorry if this makes people mad I just wasn't sure. Well I (f/16) have been writing poetry and short stories for a few years and have gotten special recognition and first place titles in local contests. Well I want to see if maybe some of my work can get published and I don't know where to begin.

First thing is first--write something. Edit it. Edit it again. Make sure it's as good as you can get it.

Next, learn about query letters and agents. Practice writing query letters, and read everything you can before submitting anything to an agent or publisher. They'll look a lot more closely at your work if you approach them in a correct, educated manner.

Finally, visit Writer Beware:
http://www.sfwa.org/beware/

This site will help you avoid common scams (like the poetry.com "contest" and agents who charge money to read your work). It pays to do research.

Good luck. Read as much as you can, too, so you develop your vocabulary and abilities further. Part of a writer's job is to read.

do you watch episodes of Degrassi TNG on the internet for free? where do you watch them? i tried looking on youtube and sites like that but i couldn't find anything. please let me know and if you could provide the link i would be really greatful.

Good taste in tv! ;0)

If you're American, the-n should work for you. If you're not, however, it won't let you access the episodes. Try http://episodes.degrassi-photos.com/index.php for the majority of the episodes. They're hosted off-site and you'll have to download the majority of them, but they're safe to download.

Holy crap. I went to the doctor's yesterday, and they said I weigh 155 pounds! And I'm only 13 and like 5'4. I checked the BMI thingie and I thought before that I was like 130, but like.. woah. I'm like 1 point over normal so now im overweight! ahh! how can I get back in shape? I already do basketball on thursdays and saturdays. and aside from things in school thats pretty much it. how can i get back in shape?????????? i really do not want to get fat.. if im not already not! or real heavy (though i probably am.) im not into doing those things that stupid kids do like be anorexic or bulemic, so thats out of question. but like.. its winter. i cant exactly do all the things i can do in the summer. plus, i have like no backyard (forrest) and alot of homework on weekdays. i think its because i may eat too much. because sometimes i may eat because im bored. but its not like i'll eat chips, because my mom cooks alot of african foods that are good. we dont really go out much but sometimes i guess i eat too much of a good thing. which is why i also bite my nails. should i get gum? but whenever i get it i always finish it in like 1 day. because i kinda feel that i have to be chewing something sometimes.. and i dont want to eat food just because.. when im not really that hungry, or bite off my nails. i dont even notice when i bite them.. but then later i see my nails arent that great and i have bitten them.. but its randomly. any help here? i reaaaally dont wanna get obese in the future!!!! and im a girl.

p.s. thankyou thankyou for helping!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What did your doctor say about your weight? Did he or she tell you to lose some?

You might want to make an appointment with your doctor specifically about your weight, or with a nutritionist. They can help you figure out healthy ways for you to lose weight, and then maintain your proper weight once you reach it.

It sounds like you might have a bit of a problem with food control, which is normal--a lot of people suffer from compulsive overeating, or binging. It's nothing to be ashamed of, and I'm not saying that IS your problem, just that it might be something to consider. A doctor and nutritionist could also probably help you deal with that.

It's good that you've ruled out eating disorders as a course of action. Just be careful that it stays that way--sometimes it's easy to slip into one if you're not paying attention.

But mainly, I'd first confirm with your doctor that you SHOULD lose weight (to make sure it's not muscle, or that you have a large frame) and then talk about what you two, together, will do.

Good luck. You sound like you have a sensible head on your shoulders, and that will be a big help in your quest to take off the pounds.

i got a laptop last christmas, its fairly new but lately it's been kind of slow lately. im mostly on the internet when i use it, so thats where ive noticed it being slow. we have dsl though so thats supposed to be kinda fast. i have a lot of pictures on here from my camera when i upload them, so could that be part of it? or am i doing something that makes it slow down? could elaving it on like over night or during the day make it slower or damage it? thankss

Rebooting might help. I find after a few days, mine gets slow and I have to restart. No big deal. If that doesn't work, it's time for a virus/spyware scan.

Also, it might be your internet browser. If you're using Internet Explorer, I would strongly suggest you switch to Firefox. It's faster, and it's safer. You can find it at http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/

Good luck. If none of those work or you need more elabouration on what I suggested, feel free to let me know. I might have a few other tricks up my sleeve.

I am about 15 pounds underweight. I am 13 years old 4'10'' and 70 pounds. I know that bad, I'm don't have any eating disorders or nothing. I just have a very high metabolism and have a slender body shape (most women in my family on my moms side are bulit like that). I don't want to gain weight fast. I know it takes like a month to gain about 3 pounds or something. But I just want to know are there any diets that can help me gain about 1-3 pounds each month?

I would suggest seeing a doctor and/or nutritionist. Chances are it's just the normal way your body works, but they can make sure there's nothing else going on, and when they find out you're otherwise healthy, they can help you plan meals that will be healthy but will also help you gain weigh. McDonald's, for instance, might help you gain weight, but it's not healthy. Trained specialists will be able to help you find better ways.

Good luck.

I think Im depressed. Every christmas day, we go on vacation somewhere. Except this year we didnt because money's been tight since my sister went to college this year AND plans just couldnt come together in time. :[ I sound like a brat, its just Im really bored! Im sitting here with presents but most of it is stuff I cant use right now. (Uggs, cell phone, clothes, hair products, etc.) Please tell me what to do. I think I am depressed because of boredom. Post-Christmas depression..?

A lot of people do find Christmas a very depressing time of the year. Even when I was young, I would ALWAYS cry on Christmas night because I just felt sad. I later experienced symptoms of Depression as a teen and was diagnosed.

In your case, it sounds more situational. However, I wouldn't be surprised if post-holiday letdown wasn't part of it. Emotions definitely run high around the holidays.

Find something that will keep you busy for awhile, as suggested below--but also actively acknowledge and remember the way you're feeling (which you seem to have done) just in case it continues to happen in the future.

Alright well this is an embarassing topic I chose to ask about but here goes....

Alright so I heard about people shaving their pubes and I thought I looked unattractive down there with pubic hair. So I shaved a little and within a few days I shaved almost all of it. I used a shaving cream that could be used for it. Now, all I feel is pain and irritation. It stings constantly where the hair used to be. However, I manage to sometimes discover temporary relief from this antagonizing agony such as a hot bath, or a hot water bottle. Any tips on what to avoid and what to use to help? After you shave repeatedly does it hurt less? Should I come to the conclusion I shouldn't shave there, and only trim? Please help me! How long will this pain last?

I generally use hair conditioner when I shave my pubic hair and it leaves my skin pretty smooth. If you don't worry about shaving the hairs really short, you're better off--the five o'clock shadow appearance is SO worth it. Also, generally shaving with the grain helps as well.

If you don't want to shave, then don't. It really is a personal choice, and many people decide not to. The main reason I do it is because it helps keep things a bit neater when I'm having my period, and I actually find it more comfortable--no long hairs getting caught! But if you're in this much agony, and it continues, definitely consider trimming instead.

Today for Christmas, I got $110 and I already had $80, so now I have $190. Well I was thinking of buying this Coach purse for myself: http://www.coach.com/content/product.aspx?product_no=3337&category_id=460 in the brass/khaki/camel color and I was wondering if its a waste of money for $138? Anyone who has it please tell me if it is worth buying and if it has good quality. Please dont say ask my parents to buy it for me or ask anyone else to buy it for me because they sure bought a lot of expensive things for me for Christmas. Thanks!

~Merry Christmas!

Allow me to steal an answer here typically saved for other questions--if you're questioning whether or not you should do it, you shouldn't.

$138 is a lot of money and if you want to spend it all on one thing, you should KNOW that's what you want to do with it. If you're unsure, then I bet you'll always regret your decision. I've never really liked anything I debated against buying at the time; it just makes me think of what other things I could have spent the money on.

But if after all these people telling you not to buy it, you feel strongly that you want it, well, that should tell you something too.

Good luck with your decision.

where can i find straight legs or skinny jeans or whatever they're called?
the only places i know to find them are pac-sun and gap, and they're hella expenseive.

does anybody know of any place cheaper???

If you're really ambitious, you can make your own. Take an old pair of jeans, cut the extra material out, resew, and poof! This especially works well if you have one pair of straight-leg jeans that fit you perfectly (or close to it), which you can use to help with sizing..

This site might help:

http://experts.about.com/q/Sewing-3237/Altering-Jeans.htm

Or maybe this one--it talks about altering mens' pants, but you get the basic idea of seam matching and doing the bottoms of the legs.

You might try eBay if you're not so craft-inclined, or even discount shops. Better yet, used clothing stores might have something . . .

ok i know this is a weird question but does any one now what the laststring on a guitar is, i meanlike the thinest string? and if you now how to tune a guitar that could help too thanxz

~trisha~

I wish I could say it was a g string, but it's not; it is indeed an e string.

There are also pitch pipes available to tune to. I've never actually used one, so I'm not entirely sure of how they work, but basically they give you the correct pitch and you tune with your ear.

But I have a tuner from back when I was band and I love it, lol. If you're serious about guitar, or music in general, it's TOTALLY worth it.
