My mom is crying because lena horne died, and I don't get it. Who is she and why is my mom sobbing so much that she can't explain it to me? She was just a singer, right?

She was a singer, dancer, and actress who basically performed for about 6 decades.

Maybe your mother is crying because she meant a lot to her. You never know, maybe when your mother was sad, it could have been her songs that cheered up. Maybe she was her idol and her inspiration.

There has to be a reason she meant a lot to your mom. I'm sure it's a great story she'll be willing to tell you later on. Just be patient and give her time.

Hope that helps :)

I've been waiting for the summer to come for a while now and it's coming closer and closer. I've been also expecting to spend a lot of time with my girlfriend this summer. I was thinking that this summer would be great; she and i on the beach watching the sunset together. I already knew that for three weeks of the summer, she will be studying at college because where she is going, it is required. Then last night I find out that she will be spending another two weeks with her cousin up north. Her mom just bought her ticket. So that leaves time for she and I at about 2-3 weeks or not even that because we will be getting ready for college. There's barely any time for us this summer and while she's studying or having a blast with her cousin, I'm going to be all alone at home missing her. That just ruins everything I hoped for and on top of that, her mother would probably make it worse by not letting her go places with me or by not letting her spend much time with me by making excuses for her daughter that she has work that needs to be done. I can already picture her doing this. We are both eighteen now so I think her daughter can make her own decisions. [By the way, I'm also a girl]. I can see that my summer will be very depressing. Also we are both going to different colleges. Maybe this is a sign that it's the end of the road for us; we're not going anywhere together. Even now, we don't have much time for eachother. Because she's in school and after she's working while I'm at home all alone or trying to get a job ehich has been very hard for me. I've been rejected for employment over 50 times. There's barely any us time and this summer when I thought the majority we would be spending together, it will just be only me. I'm not happy with this arrangement and I feel in the future, history will just repeat itself. Maybe it's time for me to find someone to love that can share time with me. I don't really know what to do but feel upset about this.

My best friend lives more than 2000 miles from me. I moved and we go to different colleges. Yet we have stayed the best of friends for over 3 years since I moved. How do we make it work? We constantly keep in touch. We text each other ALL the time. We facebook chat, MSN, and gmail chat. We share links and also email. There are times when we'll both be super busy and can't talk. When this happens we simply write long emails to each other keeping each other up to date on what's going on.

So maybe you should try that. It's hard, I know, because there will be times you guys will be super busy or one of you will be super busy while the other is doing nothing. You have to have patience. Just remember to let her know about things that are happening, like new friends or new problems.

I couldn't hang out with my best friend the summer before I had to move. It was sad at the time, but what we did was watch some of the same shows and movies and then talked about them. SO maybe you can try that.

Also try not to get too sad. Go out and have fun! Take the time to visit new places around your neighborhood and try to get close to your other friends. It's life and things like this will happen all the time. If you can learn to deal with this, then it's just another obsticle in life you've passed :)

I hope that helps! Best of luck! :)

i like this guy but he doesntseem like to like u what do i do

If he doesn't like you then the best thing would be to just stay friends with him. Maybe when he learns more about you, he might like you or maybe if you learn more about him, you might not like him as much. All in all, staying friends with him seems to be the best idea.

ok i have a problem....there is this girl and she was one of my good friends untill one day her mom calls to complain all these mean thing that i did even though there not true....so what do i do...i cant just not be friends with her! SHES MY NEITHERBOR!!!

Is she not letting you hang out with her? Or is she just complaining?

So you have to wonder why does your friends mother think you did those things? Maybe you can try talking to your friend asking why her mother thinks that. Something had to make her come up with those complaints and if you can firgure that out, you can get closer to solving your problem. Another suggestion is asking your mom to talk to her mom. Mothers speak the same language and it'll be easier if you can get your mom to understand the situation. Do so calmly and be patient. Because you did none of the things she said you did, you should be confident that things will work out. It's not your fault at all and you should be patient for it to get better.

Hope that helps and best of luck :)

what do i do if i by all the clothing i think is really cool...but when i were 'em at school they dont look so cool.....

Maybe it's because when you buy them at the store, you are seeing them for what they are, but when you're at school you are comparing them to how others dress. So, you can take a look at how you look before you leave your home and then remember that image when you think your clothes might not be so cool. You can also try not comparing them to how others dress. Be unique and if they are nice clothes that make you look good and feel good, then it doesnt matter how they look at school.

Hope that helps :)

I have a puppy who is in the process of getting trained. She still makes some accidents and I was wondering if anyone knows of a good spot carpet cleaner. Thanks!

I use Resolve a lot. Here is one that is specifically for pet stains.
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Resolve-Resolve-Pet-Pet-22-fl-oz/11027240

I would also suggest you to go to say Walmart or a similar store and ask them. You can also try any pet store and they'll give you advice because they deal with this a lot.

Hope that helps :)

Hello i have a 11 week old Toy Fox Terrior we got her about 2 weeks ago. I'm having troubles with her biting and eating her own feces. I've looked online at ways to teach your dog not to bite and it seems like ive tried it all. The first couple times she started biting i yelped like a dog and that seemed to startle her now i do it and it doesnt even phase her. I tell her no firmly and she does it anyways. I put her in her kennel then she calms down and is up to it again. I dont expect her to listen to everything i say i know shes a puppy. But any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

My teacher once had this problem. She would put tabasco sauce or hot saunce on it so that it would burn teh dog's turn and she said it worked perfectly. So...if you havn't tried that you should :)

Best of luck!

I watch my boyfriends five year old little girl she tells me no she isnt going to do something and she wont. today she threw a cookies on the floor i thought it was an acident so pick them up. then goes a can of chip... alittle fishy i clean them up again. next goes her pizza and all her food on her plate... this time i catch her she is doing it on purpose. i tell her five mins of time out she says no.... i say it three more times nicely and she says no. i give her a choice time out or bed time she says neither. so i pick her up take her to the bed room i dont loose my temper i do it calmy and tell her i will see her in the morning goodnight then walk out.

she screams kicks throws stuff now i am mad i hear things falling and hitting the wall... i go in tell her to get into bed and go to sleep now. she jumps in bed then she starts kicking and sreaming begging me no bed time.

I decide its way to early for bed but she can sit in there for 15 mins if she is good she can get up and try again.

15 mins later she is till throwing a fit so i say ok 7 oclock go to bed fine with me. finaly she calms down.

but i have had these fits before and the same results the end in bed time or nap time. i would throw it up to her just being tired but it cant just be that they happen 30 mins after nap time when she is wound up.

how do i deal with this with out spanking.. ignoring this behavoir isnt safe or possible... help me......

I agree with the previous advice on getting your boyfriend involved. Although I have some other suggestions.

I wonder...does she listen to her dad? If he tells her to stop does she? If she does then the problem is that she doesn't respect you enough to listen to you. If that is the case then there are ways you can fix it. You can try to ask your bf to tell her to listen to you. Maybe if she is told to listen to you she will. Also, does your bf use the same methods of discipline as you? For example, if she isn't familiar with the concept of a time out then she won't be afraid of one. Ask him what he does to get her to listen.

I would also advise you to not lose hope. It's fun for her to see what she can get away with. It's her job to test the limits. If you give in even a little bit (such as telling her it's bedtime, then deciding it's too early for bed) then she'll only try it again because she'll know you give in. So you have to be consistant and try your hardest to not give in. No means no and if you have to tell her in a stern voice, then so be it. This also goes with her dropping her food. First, give her food that are a easy clean up and give her a little bit. Tell her that if she throws it then she won't get more or that she won't say get the pizza. Another idea I have is to try to put her in a room where there aren't many toys or things she can move around. If she is in a room without this then she will have no choice but to eventually stop.

Also here are some sites that might help:

So is it true? does cold water make hair shiny? If it does could you tell me why?

According to some articles I've read, it is true.
This article on http://www.harpersbazaar.com/beauty/beauty-articles/thick-shiny-hair-0907 says:
Rinsing hair with cold water closes the cuticle, leaving a smooth, shiny surface. Blasting with cold air after a blow-dry has a similar smoothing effect, and most dryers have a cold setting for this purpose.

Here is another link that will help. http://www.womanjunction.com/topic/hair/how-tos/shiny-hair/

Hope that helps :)

hi! i'm about to get a new phone, but i cant choose which one to get.
i'm choosing between the samsung solstice. and the samsung impression.
i'm 16, text ALOT and i'd like fast and easy texting.
my sister has the solstice. and i've played with it. i like it alot. but i wouldnt want to miss out on a better phone.
if you could, tell me which one would be better for me.
thanks!

Ok! I have the Samsung Impression and I have to tell you I LOVE IT. Honestly, I didn't like the Solstice very much. It was a great hone, but I liked the feel of the Impression.

I haven't had the Solistice, but I have to tell you that texting is really easy on the Impression. I'm not a fan of touch screen and I like texting from the touch screen (I also use the keypad alot).

So, all I'm saying is that I'm very satisfied with the Impression and I have no problem with it. In MY opinion, I would say the Impression is better from experience, but again it's just my opinion.

It would also be great to go to the store and compare them side by side. It really makes a difference when they are next to each other and you can see what you like about both.

Hope that helps!! :)

Hi Annie its Moss again.

Hi five for the super advise it worked like a charm.

I do have one other problem though I seemed to have forgot that my mother has grass allegories and would not tolerate my fetish of the grass and she watches TV all day even when I'm hungry for a sandwich. She is driving me up the wall. I am intending on writing her a email to tell her she is "not cool" can you help me with this highly important task. Is this the correct retaliation. Please help me out again.

Regards Moss.

Lol... Hi Moss :)

Have you simply tried talking to her? It might be easier to get the point across if you tell her your problem directly. (Also, why can't you make your own sandwich?) But, really, if it is bothering you I think it would be best to tell her outright. Try hard though to not say it the wrong way. Sometimes mothers overreact and you don't want to deal with that. However if you have tried to talk to her before and it didn't work, then perhaps emailing is a good idea (especially if she checks her email often). You can also write her a note. I hope that helps :)

Also...great question once again ;)

Ok, so I am breastfeeding my baby but I have a question that I don't really want to ask my doctor because I don't want him to think I'm a bad person.

Before I got pregnant I really liked to go out drinking with my friends sometimes. My husband and I actually use to get a little drunk on the weekends and enjoy ourselves and our time off work. I haven't drank since I found out I was pregnant and my baby is over 3 months old now.

Is it safe to drink alcohol while breastfeeding? I looked up foods to avoid while breastfeeding but didn't see anything about avoiding alcohol while nursing.

I found some helpful links that will help you understand. Basically from teh research i have done, it says that you can have an occasional drink, it just has to at least 2-3 hours before your rwould nurse your baby and I'd advise you not to have more than one drink.

I really don't understand ovulation and I was hoping you could explain it to me in a way that I could understand. The timing of it and how you tell of you are ovulating seems more like guesswork than science.

Can you help me?

hi got a very important question to ask you. People think i'm gay because I like the smell of fresh cut grass. I have fermented my clothes to smell like grass because it smells so good. But now every one thinks i'm quire what do I do to rectify this problem?

regards Moss

Have you tried to telling them you're not? If you havn't you should. Also perhaps you can ignore them. The less you care, the less they will too. :)

my mom has a lot of aloe vera plants in our garden.. i was wondering, is it good to use it on the face as a moisturizing mask before bedtime?? i want to use it fresh.. and what are its benefits?

Yes you can use it. It's especially handy for sunburns and other skin discomforts, but it also keeps skin soft and supple.

Visit this site for more info: http://www.ultimate-cosmetics.com/aloe-vera/using-on-face.html

You'll also have to know how to extract the aloe properly though. So this link should help.

Well, I am in college now and will be playing beer pong for the first time soon. I have no real idea what to expect or how this really works. I am old enough to drink, and I will have friends with me so I am not worried about going to the frat party where we will be playing so don't worry about that.

Can anyone explain how it works? (I am a girl and sports aren't my thing)

I will rate you!

Here are soem links that'll help:

Since you're old enough to drink, I guess I won't bother with that speech. Be careful and know when to stop :)
