Drinking Alcohol while Breastfeeding

Question Posted Thursday May 6 2010, 2:58 am

Ok, so I am breastfeeding my baby but I have a question that I don't really want to ask my doctor because I don't want him to think I'm a bad person.

Before I got pregnant I really liked to go out drinking with my friends sometimes. My husband and I actually use to get a little drunk on the weekends and enjoy ourselves and our time off work. I haven't drank since I found out I was pregnant and my baby is over 3 months old now.

Is it safe to drink alcohol while breastfeeding? I looked up foods to avoid while breastfeeding but didn't see anything about avoiding alcohol while nursing.

I found some helpful links that will help you understand. Basically from teh research i have done, it says that you can have an occasional drink, it just has to at least 2-3 hours before your rwould nurse your baby and I'd advise you not to have more than one drink.

no it is not. It takes about half an hour for the alchohol too get into your milk. So try not too do it. It can affect your babies development.
