itsaprilagain answered Saturday May 8 2010, 10:42 pm: I've heard that it's true.
I tried rinsing my hair which is thin and naturally wavy with cold water once to see what effect it would have, but it actually made my hair less shiny. I don't know why, but my hair is always more shiny when I use hot water and a hot setting on my blow dryer. I think it really depends on the type of hair that you have.
If you want to be sure, try it for yourself and see what effect it has on your hair. [ itsaprilagain's advice column | Ask itsaprilagain A Question ]

This article on [Link](Mouse over link to see full location) says:
Rinsing hair with cold water closes the cuticle, leaving a smooth, shiny surface. Blasting with cold air after a blow-dry has a similar smoothing effect, and most dryers have a cold setting for this purpose.

Wash your hair with warm water first, then right before getting out of the shower wash with cold.
Cold water smooths the hair cuticle down and promotes shine. [ PaperHeartsX3's advice column | Ask PaperHeartsX3 A Question ]
